Forza 7 is the No Mans Sky of 2017

If you preorder any game, not just this one, don’t be surprised if it’s not what you wanted or expected. This is my first preorder ever and I only did so because I got a deal. If you preorder you essentially say that it doesn’t matter what the game looks like, you are buying it.

That’s all well and good, but if I pre-order a Porsche, I want a Porsche. I don’t expect to get a Kia… You will get your Porsche, but you’ll have to go from a Kia, to a Hyundai, then a Ford and eventually a Porsche, but we don’t know how long it’ll take to get it

The point is with every game there will be issues and if you want to know if a product is legit and will have what you’re looking for, the only way to do this is wait for after release and look at reviews and gameplay objectively. For example, I want the new Assassin’s Creed game but I will not preorder it. Right now it’s my top non-driving game on my list releasing this year. I’m waiting till after release to see what the game is actually like, not relying on advertising or developer rhetoric. Maybe more people on this forum should have done the same.

I pre-ordered Assassin’s Creed (my wife wanted it for her birthday) ;0) remember the hoo hah over AC Unity? Ubisoft apologised for the foul up and made Dead Kings a free DLC instead of the paid one as planned? They also decided to scrap the app, because it didn’t work properly and made all the app chests available to everyone. I can accept that mistakes happen, but it’s not the mistakes that matter, it’s the way in which they are dealt with, and so far, there’s not much of anything going on, and people aren’t being told anything. I think the lack of communication is what’s upsetting people the most :0)

I kind of agree with Kdogg on this one. I was tempted to buy FM7 before launch because it was €50 instead of €70, but decided not to. Sadly it’s not unexpected for games to launch in a bad state these days.

I still think the game launched in a poor state and it’s not excusable, but if everybody waited instead of pre ordering I’d say the game would have sold a fair bit less. That would encourage developers to make their games much more polished on release. The lack of communication from Turn 10 is very disappointing/annoying though.

Its absolutely irresponsible of Turn10 to remain silent after this mess. If they were smart they would be providing updates on what is being done and when the next patch should be out. Instead they keep us in the dark and people are becoming more angry by the day, basically ripping their fanbase apart. Did you see the response they got from the update on whats being done about VIP? People were so thankful they shared information… its that easy.

You can’t say when you preorder you have to accept what you get… especially when the advertising for the game had everything that is currently missing. They bait and switched the VIP, the clips they used in trailers says “actual in game footage” yet shows fully animated pit stops and the advertising for the game says “Forza 7 is the ultimate racing esport for players and viewers alike.” Really?? How when multiplayer crashes constantly and there is no spectator mode?

At this point I think Turn10 is lucky they aren’t being sued for false advertisement.

With every un-researched purchase you essentially have buyer beware. I’m not saying that T10 should be excused for crashes and game breaking bugs, only it’s on you to research the product and be sure that it is what you want before purchasing it. I bought Diablo 3 the day it came out and that’s on me for jumping the gun and not waiting to see if there would be any issues and that launch in my opinion was much worse than this one. At least most people could play Forza 7 on day 1. So you had the option, keep the game or bring it back/sell it back/ask for a refund if you did so right away. So in short, basing buying decisions on advertising will often lead to disappointment. Take the No Man’s Sky guy. He talked a great game before release and look where that got him. So glad I have Elite Dangerous instead!

Also the trailer did not show an animated pit stop. It shows a driver change. The text said something along the lines of Forza engine footage.

The game was broken on release, and two weeks down the line, it’s still broken. The only thing they’ve fixed is the exploitable glitch they introduced in the original release so people could no longer ramp up XP/Credits unrealistically. I actually like the game, but at present, lots of it is either still in development or doesn’t work as it should/at all. There are normally teething problems with any new game, and that’s accepted, but only releasing half a game, and that half doesn’t work, is just asking for a backlash, and that’s exactly what’s happening.

Lol … FM7 is far and beyondnot even close to being comparable to No Mans Sky.

NMS was absolutely barren, but yet, FM7 had far more to do out the gate than that game did. Trying to compare these two games, is just… amusing.

forza motorsport 7 is the battlefield 1 of 2017 a fantastic game thats the gold standart of its genre.

bf1 was not perfect out of the box(or out of the origin) and they keep improving it even now 1 year later
and… u need to pay to get shortcuts to unlock wapons or just grind the mp untill u get there urself… sound femilier???
this is the future now this is how games are being made now you get something thats constantli evolve and you have the option to pay to get all wapoens/cars fast.
i think some ppl are just stock in the past and cant adapt modern times witch to some (like me) is gaming haven

The problem is expectation and the feeling that games should give someone what they personally want. This is almost never true.

Or, the problem may be that people expect a game with a name like FM7 to carry over doing the same things, for the most part, that all the other FM titles have done.

This expectation is built in by the name, and Turn10 marketing. the problem isn’t the buyers. The problem is Turn10 has delivered a substandard product that has many problems, but more importantly has taken a design direction U-Turn from previous titles.

Turn10 should have given this game a new title, like was done with FH. FM7 isn’t a FM game really, and it’s perfectly reasonable for those who expected FM7 to actually be a FM game to be upset about all the things that are buggy, incorrect, or missing in FM7. Especially so considering that many of the things added are considered by many to be frivolous and not related to motorsports at all.

Still, it’s true though that FM7 is by no means the No Man’s Sky of 2017 unless the only requirement to be the No Man’s Sky of 2017 is community unrest.

You hit the nail on the head, with everything said, IMO this is like the release of No Mans Sky in regards to expectations and community unrest with the actual product. Well said

I totally agree too.

This doesn’t feel like a Motorsport title, it’s more like a story mode racer with the way AI cars speed away and then slow down for a grand finale.

I expected Forza 6 with improvements not for the game to have its heart ripped out and replaced by gimmicky fancy dress outfits and loot boxes.

I have loved all previous Forza Motorsports games but I can’t help but feel disappointined with my purchase this time around, they are taking the series in a direction I disagree with and unless they start getting back to what made the series so great (look at what we had with Forza 4) I fear I have purchased my last Forza game.

There’s no way it’s on that level. I got Horizon 2 on 360 when it came out since I did not own the XB1 at the time. When I picked up the XB1 version I ran it on both consoles at the same time and switched my inputs back and forth. HUGE difference!

God, gamers really are a whole new level of complainers.

In terms of the whole package (content + driving experience), Forza 7 is better than:
Gran Turismo Sport
PCars/PCars 2
Assetto Corsa
Need for Speed

  • everything else

The only game in existence with more cars and tracks to choose from than F7 is GT6, and let’s be honest - half of the cars in the game were ported from the PS2, therefore making the game incomplete.

You will not find a more complete game in terms of content that delivers a fantastic driving experience than Forza because it simply doesn’t exist. Once it does, I’ll gladly switch over to the new game. The only possible contender here is Gran Turismo, but PD would need to work their tails off in order to make it happen and they’ve (sadly) made it clear that they are taking the series in a different direction.

FM7 has a lot of content but has to sacrifice the quality of that content to have so much. FM7 is missing some vital features like AI in private lobbies and some form of system to stop multiplayer turn into the wild west. The AI is not very impressive either.

Assetto Corsa, both Project Cars games and GT Sport all have more realistic physics so to some they’d be considered better driving experiences. I’m pretty sure Project Cars 2 has the most tracks of any game at the moment and that has fully dynamic time and weather on all tracks with a competent online component.

The standout features of FM7 are the car count, career and upgrading (if it’s not a homolgated race) but in other areas it is eclipsed by other games.

ah come on, sure youre just disappointed by the technical hikups, like me and a lot of other people but the game itself, when its up and not killing your RAM is pretty nice  i like it a lot even there are in fact a lot of issues, for me the biggest issue is still the AI and also that i cannot set time and weather better, or lack of qualifying… hope they will patch this up, but still, i like it

Just experienced the track dissapearing for the first time in a long race, can honestly say that this is worse than no mans sky, no mans sky was at least playable, the planets didn’t just magically dissapear.

Honestly i cannot believe this, i have been ignoring most of the hate here because i didn’t want to jump on the band wagon and just chime in without a real reason, but i just cannot deal with this, a high budget game that should at least be working fine (maybe some small bugs) but no.

This game is just an early acces title.

and my biggest issue is the lack of communication, at least hello games had the balls to announce they really screwed up and were working hard to improve it (and what they were working on)

Idk bout gt sport being a better driver. Different, yes. Better is definitely subjective.

My oldest son has a PS4, so I pre ordered gt sport for him. We played a little last night and while the intro was impressive, as is FM7’s, I didn’t notice the cars being any better. I did notice the sounds, to me, were bad.

He’s enjoying it, that’s all that matters. I’m enjoying the hell out of FM7. I did my first online race today. Total mayhem off the line but I avoided it to come out seventh, finished 5th. For all the talk of homologation, I was wondering why the top three cars in that race were rated way higher than every other car, of course they finished the top 3 spots. I’ll stick to my career play and work on acquiring as much as I can.
