Forza 6 What we want. Bring back the SIM

Lets me start this off first by saying that this is my opinion and some of you might not agree. On the other hand I’m sure a lot of you will back me up. Ill try and keep this short as possible but theres a lot i want to go over.

I’m going to go over a couple things that i would like to see be brought back or incorporated into the new Forza 6 multiplayer. No I’m not talking about cars or tracks here.

  1. Bring us Back to Reality.
Over the past couple weeks i have got to try out different simulators and it got me thinking. What happened to Forza? Yes the graphics are amazing but some of us would rather sacrifices graphics for core game play. Tell me what races you know that only span 3-5 laps? none. Now i understand that the creators want to give people of all ages a “fun expearience” What about the rest of us that play this game and want what we payed for… a Simulator. How are we going to be able to play a simulator when were locked into online matches that we have no control over what assist are on or off, how many laps, and the amount of realism we are getting. I just wanna see user created matches be brought back into Forza 6. If you all played Forza 5 then you know you raced in user created races to have a more realistic experience, and the races usually had way fewer crashes and everyone had more race craft. If you do not know what Race Craft is i suggest you look it up.

  2. Gameplay
Take a look at some of these other Simulators on the market. (Not just Gran Turismo) Look at how they bring racing back to a realistic view. They have actual pitting.( and there steering wheels don’t go crazy as you are moving down pit lane). They have someone talking to you a feeding you information such as traffic around you. Most of us have one monitor so our vision is very limited. To have someone spot other vehicles on the track would be a massive help to keeping in your line, knowing when you have succesfully made a pass, when someone is pushing up in your quater panel and even give other players lap times that you are behind. This will help to know if your are going slower and need to try to pick up the pace in order to catch him. Lets take a look at how many laps our races usually consist of. One major problem about our races only being 3-5 laps is you hardly ever get decent races. Everyone is trying so hard to get into first place that they disregard everyone eles on the track and now you end up with a demolition derby. If we could add more laps if would allow people to take there time with complete a pass rather then being stuck behind a car for 1-2 turns and getting upset and pushing your way through. We need some sort of system to penalize people to ramming and or hitting other drivers. Now yes it wont ever stop the problem because the real cause is us the community but we need to try and make a consequence for hitting other people.

  3. Black Flag
The Flag we all need. If you are caught hitting people we need a point system to record the hits. For a general idea lets say when you start a race you have no points and the max amount of points you can have in a race is 20. After that you are Black flagged from that race and are now taken straight to the pits to sit and wait as everyone finishes. Now most people will leave if they get Black flagged but that’s okay because if they don"t want to race clean then we don"t want them racing with us. The point system should record hits and the harder the hit the more points. Now wheel to wheel racing has its bumps and rubs but for instence say you are bump drafting to help you and someone eles go faster. You should still take points but very little, maybe only 1. Now if your coming into turns to fast and hitting people you should get lets say 10. The Smaller the impact the less you are penalized. I’m Sure you all get the idea about what would be considered a hard or light impact. Now on to the course say you try and cut the course, and we all including Turn 10 know the places on certain track that are taken advantage of and are usually cut in most online sessions. Those that cut the track in these sessions should have to take a penalty. Either lifting off the throttle and coasting for a certain amount of time or dropping to a very low speed then you are allowed to start going again. If you fail to do one of these then you should be Black flagged and our now out of the race. This will never stop people from doing these things but at least there will be a penalty for doing so. Its all up to us to have clean and fun races.

  4. IT’S The Little Things That Count
After playing some of these other simulators there were some things that i liked that were not even that big of a deal. I liked Qualifying for positions in races. This gave everyone 10-15 mins to do basically a test and tune and try to run the best lap to be in a decent position. While allowed to make tweaks to there cars tuning for each track. Pulling out from the pits made the game feel more immurse and gave the feeling of pulling onto a race track and having to warm up your brakes and tires to preform your time attack. Rolling starts help out a lot with keeping the beginning of the race more intersting and even. We should have the choice between standing and rolling starts. Now Forza’s lighting engine does a very good job with making the enviroment seem real but can we please be able to minimize the sun glare. The last thing we need to happen is while entering a turn without suggestion lines, not being able to see your braking point. We should have the option to adjust the sun glare from being heavy to not having it at all. Me personally would not mind not having sun glare to be able to see my braking points and turn in points. As i said before we need user created games. Allow us to pick how many laps, which type of vehicles, the amount of simulation and all around realism of how “WE” want to play this game. I know everyone wont agree with the way i like to play or the way someone eles likes to play but with user created servers it allows everyone to get the most out of this simulator. Spec Cars. For example Cup Miata is a great spec car. No power at all and a whole lot of handling allows for having to rely on driver skill over who has more power. With Spec cars it now allows us to be more competitive and have closer races without the b.s. leader board cars. This is a BIG thing in my book!

  5. End Result
With a little more core features brought back to the Forza franchise we the players will be able to enjoy this game a whole lot more. If you like a relaxed game with only a couple laps of racing and a couple if not all assist you should be able to do that. Now say you want the most realistic path. Were talking qualifying to get your position then on to the 20 lap or so race with all spec cars, no assist, and all down to a drivers race. With user created races we would be able to have this. Wanna get rid of leader board cars? Allow us to not allow cars we choose in out user created races. We should be able to do that. No 20 laps is not an endurance race that is the typical amount of laps in most sanctioned bodies. Ive seen a lot on these fourms that people want endurance races brought back and i agree.

Now i could go on and on about things that either need to be changed or tweaked but its not my game or my vision. These are just some things i think most people would like to incorporate to make the game a better suited for everyone. Please don"t hesitate to comment and give your in put on these matters. The only way Turn 10 would know what we want is by speaking out.

I feel that you should be able to adjust the amount of laps that you want to have for each race in career mode. The more laps you select, the more credits you earn, that would be good. My favourite thing about forza 3 were the endurance races and I want them back badly. I feel that the Black flag thing of yours is a great idea aswell but I feel instead of dropping them points you could add a time penalty at the end of the race based on the amount and force of crashes.

Welcome to the forums. Did you see the Features Wishlist stickied here?

The problem with the points is it wont really solve the problem, it may reduce the number of crashes for a while till those who crash to win or grief figure a way around getting points.
Not to mention once they get blacked flag & automatically put in the pits they will quit & go to a new lobby.
what about lag?

Now the idea of slowing people down for cutting corners, that would be worse then the sticky patches that they already use to prevent corner cutting at places.
Don’t get me wrong corner cutters are annoying but slowing them down is only gonna make them more desperate in trying to block anyone trying to pass.

Actually this is already used in a number of sims, and the forced 5 second slow penalty works well.

Sticky dirt was the replacement for red time because people would just see who could rack up the least amount of red time on a lap.

I gotta agree… We shouldn’t be making cars stop, we should instead be making them not able to go. This would be much more realistic than hitting grass at 90 and stopping instantly. You aren’t just covering cheaters with that solution. There have been plenty of times my car hasn’t eaten the wall when it should have because of sticky grass.

Yes now like I said befor the real problem is the community that plays the game and nothing will ever stop people from ramming and cutting. Atleast with a point system for hitting and a penalty to slow people down will atleast make them pay for there actions. Think of it this way. If someone is in a race ramming people now he can keep doing it the whole race and never get penalized. If we had a system and they were ramming they will Probly only make it a lap or 2 then get black flagged out of the race. Now say he joins another game is does the same thing and only last a couple laps. Either he will try to straighten up his driving or he will stop playing the game because he loses interest since he can only ever race for a lap or 2. It’s just a way to help out the serious drivers. This is used in a lot of other sim’s and it works!

What i think would work is a player rating system where we can rate other drivers in the lobby. If they had a system like that in place it would be a simple effective way of grouping players. Of course some people might rank others poorly on purpose but i think the true ranking would show thru over time. There could be ranked lobbies for people who most likely really want to race and unranked for people who like a bit more aggravation lol. Whatever they do they have to not fracture the community too much. I think the whole black flag thing wouldn’t work the way you’d hope in forza it would be too strict of a system. When it comes down to it forza motorsport is not a racing simulator nor was it ever meant to be. Everyone plays forza differently that’s what makes it so great, it has a little bit of something for everyone. Its when people focus on one particular area is when the complaints start. Some people like road cars some like race cars, some people like to drift others like to drag race, some people like to tune cars while some people just want to paint and some people like to just play single player or just multiplayer or just do rivals. So many different options in one game how could they possibly please everyone, the answer is they can’t. Ive played many racing games in my time and i do feel the forza series allows me to get a little taste of everything. If i ever wanted to focus more on a specific type of racing there are other racing games out there and i would buy them.
