It’s a child-like hope when you REALLY want something. I can relate, I was really hoping for physical LCE.
But… I caved and pre-ordered the basic physical FM6 disc from EB Games (having the disc is a big thing for me). I’ll get the VIP and other content afterwards.
I’m the same way I started gaming on a NES and have always had a physical copy and I don’t like change so I ordered a physical copy I’ll buy the vip and Carpass day 1
Dang, was hoping there’d be some kind of legit physical LCEs available. I would not have a problem getting the ultimate edition off the Xbox store if it weren’t for my internet provider. From what I’ve heard of how big FM6 will be, and with my 30GB data limit… no way that’s gonna happen.
Since the first FORZA, If there was a Pre-order Edition I got it. This is the first time I Pre-Ordered and had to download any FORZA product. It feels a little like new tech. with plusses and minuses, NO additional cars or trinkets like a FORZA key-chain or FORZA 8GB memory stick like in past editions. I do however, keep every copy of FORZA, and XBOX ONE had better have them all ready sooner then later for the XBOX360 emulator. To everyone who pre-ordered the game-good luck and congrats, to everyone who hasn’t pre-ordered FORZA 6 or played any FORZA game-you don’t know what you are missing!!! Need to beg, borrow, st///// sorry beg some more to get the ULTIMATE EDITION of FORZA 6. TANKS, JONESY456
I hope Dan Greenawalt and Microsoft see this post, and understand my annoyance with this announcement, simply because if they had announced this limited edition V8 supercar steel case retail edition of Forza 6, I would’ve bought this version, like the previous steel case edition retail versions that I had been collecting since Forza 2!
They purposely left it until now because they wanted as many of us Forza fans to purchase the online digital download version from Microsoft. Mind you it was probably Microsoft who were responsible for this marketing fiasco!
I waited patiently for them to announce different versions of the retail edition, and it looked as though they were going to stick to their guns and only have the standard edition sold through retail outlets.
Personally, I don’t trade my games, and having all limited edition versions from Forza 2 onwards in steel cases was a hobby of mine, in which I would collect each Forza edition for years to come.
This might sound petty to a lot of you out there, but I’m a huge Forza fan, and I have my steel case versions of Forza sitting on a shelf next to a Stig statue, and an autographed SBR Ford Marcus Ambrose Ford Pirtek #4 and a Steven Richards, Perkins Holden Team 1:18 scale Biante V8 supercar models.
Even though I purchased the ‘Ultimate Edition’ which gives you access to Forza 6 five days prior to the release date, I still would’ve purchased the retail Limited Edition version if I had known about this retail version much earlier!
I guess I’ll just have to wait for approximately six months for some casual racer to trade this steel case version in at one of the retail outlets, and then I’ll purchase it just for the case when it’s a lot cheaper!
It says “EB Exclusive” which means nothing more, than it is produced for (or by) the retailer to make people buy the game there.
This has nothing to do with a Limited Collectors Edition.
Other retailers do this a lot in the last time. Amazon in germany for instance. There where ~ 30-40 games with an “amazon exclusive steelcase” in the last year. No matter for PS4, XB1 or WiiU.
The funny thing is… when you order it (amazon.de), you get two cases.
You will receive the standard game/case with the disc as everybody else and an empty steelcase … oO.
Complaining about the steelcase (AU) you can also complain about the T-Shirt (UK) the keychain (FR) or the basecap (DE). Everything from a different retailer.
Without checking the pre-order bonuses right now, i’m sure there are more “exclusive items” from different retailers worldwide with even more to come.
Microsoft want’s you to buy from Microsoft.
That’s why they offer the official CE and UE only via download. OK, you can complain about that.
All the other stuff is nothing more than other retailers that want to sell the game also to you.
You have two chances:
Get used to this kind of marketing.
or
Buy 4, 5, 6 … or 10+ “versions” of the game from different countries and retailers all over the world.
I don’t give a rats about all the other bits and pieces other retailers are offering. It’s totally irrelevant !!! And in regards to your comment
‘I already tried to explain it here, And i will try to explain it again …’
I don’t read every god damn page on this forum, so no I didn’t come across this previous topic you!!!
If you had read my post you would know that I’m not someone who’s buying their first retail edition of Forza!!!
The reason why you’re an idiot is because retail outlets don’t manufacturer their own cases for a game! The Publisher which in this case being Microsoft, has a marketing department that puts together a tailored version for certain countries. E.g. Australia has V8 Supercars, Germany might have DTM (This is just an example)
In this case, because Australia’s most popular GT racing is its very own ‘V8 Supercars’, Microsoft’s marketing team have designed a tailored version of the packaging, and are providing a download card with a code, for a specific vehicle that another retail is not offering.
For example JB HIFI, might be handing out a code for a free ferrari (Just an example), and EB Games are handing out a code for an Audi with every game sold.
‘SO ONCE AGAIN’ The steel case (Packaging) is tailored for the country (Region), and not for the individual retailer!!!
I look at it this way. My last two Forzas, 5 and Horizon 2, I got through digital download, standard for 5 as I didn’t get it until I got my X-Box One until July last year and Ultimate Deluxe Edition for Horizon, and since there’s no special edition of 6, why break the habit? Ultimate edition preordered, thank you very much. Can’t wait!!!
jasonr71 - uncalled for response. Settle down a bit. I would suggest you pre-order the game from EB and pick up the steel case and then cancel the pre-order. I got a similar one for Assassins Creed 3. They gave me the case the day I pre-ordered but I never ended up buying the game. But if they don’t give you the case at the time of pre-order, go in an buy in on release day and then return it unopened the next day (without the Steel case)
In fact, I don’t think it was an uncalled response because he was obviously being a smart .ss! I don’t get on here to insult or offend people, but if someone is going to have a stab at a reasonable comment I made, then surely I have the right to be offended as well!
I will refrain and remove the insults, but don’t lecture me about my remarks, when it was clearly obvious he was being a smart .ss!
And no Noobertson, you weren’t trying to talk to me like an adult, you were treating me like I was an imbecile because I hadn’t read a response you wrote earlier in relation to various retail versions of Forza 6!
If you don’t want me to bite back, show a little respect and be a little tactful on how you respond to others comments!
The above version doesn’t seem to exist unless you click on the link Noobertson provided in the above advert.
At present, when you go to the EB games website you only get access to the standard version (Non V8 Supercar steel case version)
I can only assume that the link above from the sales rep at EB Games has not been officially announced to the general public as yet, and might be published in the up and coming days on the EB Games website!
Your link is ‘.ca’ . The steelbook is ‘.com.au’ only.
Maybe some redirect issue. At least here (germany) i can access the australien site and find the steelbook. It’s no separate version, it’s a (limited) bonus for every standard FM6 they sell.
Yes you’re right Noobertson! I didn’t pick up on the url. However I went into the store yesterday, they looked up Forza 6 on their system, and they had no information on the steel case as a bonus! Nor could they confirm that this was on offer. They only had the three bonus cars listed if you pre-purchased the game.
It’s great when you ask their own sale team in the store about a product that is listed on their website, and they have absolutely no information on their system! They usually get a list of up and coming games and what promotions the company is doing for the pre-release and pre-orders!
