I am a forza veteran, I have played all of the forza Motorsport series games and ploughed days of my life into trying to climb the leaderboards with varying levels of success.
As a uk gamer I had a week of reading what you guys from across the pond had to say about the game, I wasn’t sure whether to be excited or to dread the arrival of the latest incarnation of my favourite game. The horror stories of over aggressive ai and over steering cars rung the alarm bells. I needn’t have worried.
As annoying as the intro to the game is for those of us who have played the series for years, it was well put together and really conveys the message of why we play the game. I was slightly frustrated that I had to go through all the leagues to get to my beloved Mazda 787 but i ended up enjoying every second. I have had no issues with the ai that are out of the ordinary, the only close encounters I get happen when they seem to make mistakes more than deliberately cutting me off. The cars handle far better than they did on fm5, I find the kerbs much easier to ride and the wet weather and night racing are truly brilliant fun, long overdue of course.
I have now got to level 40 something, gone through all the levels of the career mode and played my fair share of rivals and the game continues to grow and evolve. I can see many many hours being lost to this game and I can’t wait.
The expanded track selection should keep it entertaining for a long time to come and although it’s not without its imperfections (the sound is utterly awful for the most part) I applaud turn 10 for making another great game for us even though you can obviously see the commercial pressures that they had to absorb whilst making the game. Great all round game made all the better by the fact the 787b was in it from day one.
If anyone wants to race in lobbies or just rivals feel free to add me, clean, no assists racing purely for the fun of it.
I’ll assume you’re a gamepad user… right? Many of the issues are with Wheel users… you know the wheel T10 openly encouraged and outwardly supported due to the all new sophisticated FFB they developed for Xbox One. That many of us bought into and spent hundreds of dollars on not to mention the new TP3A Pro pedals and TH8A Shifter… ! This was so we could continue to enjoy the game we all loved nd supported since FM1/2/3/4 etc… and most had spent ont he wheel supported and encouraged by T10 offered through Fanatec… you know with the FM logo displayed and stamped on the product… which is now obsolete not to mention the pedals as well.
You would be right. It sucks to hear that not everyone has had the same positive experiences that I have had from the game. I use a game pad through having no space to have a proper setup which in this case sounds like my saving grace.
As the title says the post was purely about my experiences so far and was in no way meant to accuse anyone of making up the issues they were having. I really hope that they can sort out this wheel issue so the forza community can focus on the racing once again.
I understand EU… I like the game too… but as I said, I bought both wheels that T10 endorsed and they still seem to ignore wheel users. Though I don’t see why it is so hard t please both controller type users. Also, I would prefer more user freedoms… like Fm4 had in career and on LB’s. I do like the hardcore boards, wish they offered a wheel only LB… and controller only LB… this would help for time comparisions… and user setup’s.
I shall add you, please add me back! (GT: Fuxley) I play without any assists (apart from braking line) & manual w/ clutch, would be cool to do some clean racing with you, I find it’s hard to even complete a race in time in the hoppers due to the destruction derby that inevitably happens at the start of every. single. race.
Split wheel and pad leaderboards would be really good to see where you truly stand. Also would be good if every track could be raced at night and in the wet.
