Forza 4 vs 6 Autovista Comparison

Yikes 6 might be more detailed but 4 has better sound effects and better presentation with voiceover over small details and graphs flying everywhere, i wonder what happened
Not to mention that most cars don’t even have details like engine and not all bonnets, trunks, doors opening

In 4 there was only about 20 cars though, now they do it for all cars…

I do miss the car specific voice-overs though for sure

but not all cars actually that detailed, engine bay inaccessible etc

With every single car having autovista, it makes total sense that not all get the 100% treatment like 4 had. There is always a little give and take when going from a few, to hundreds.

Yup.

This is an example of quantity over quality. In 4 they focused on a select set of cars and could therefore provide higher quality in terms of information provided and voice overs. With the amount of cars that T10 are doing it with now that is not possible.

My question for the consumer (us) would be, Would you prefer an autovista with the same levels of presentation as provided in FM4 but for only select cars, or less information but you get all cars in autovista?

Personally, I would prefer focus on select cars. The special cars that made a name for themselves. Not all cars to me needs this level of showroom detail in the game. Release the game with say 20 cars like FM4 and then add another car with every dlc. Then use this as a starting platform for the next title release. It would be something that would be ok as a copy and paste between game releases to a certain extent. However, the biggest problem with this idea is the arguments that would be had as to what cars should be used.

I liked the Clarkson voice bits, and the extra detail in 4’s vista.

I like that 5 and 6 have every car, but I wish they were all of equal detail (to each other that is, not to the cars in 4), i.e. opening trunk/engine bay/rear doors.

One thing I really thought was cute in 4 was that if you started the engine, clicking on the steering wheel launched an event. It’d be neat if you could access test drive or free play that way.

on every car I have seen in autovista I have the possibility to open all doors and look at the engine. but when I make a engine swap that possibility is gone. I see that realistic :stuck_out_tongue:

This is a licensing issue.

In many cars I own in the game that I have used the “explode” feature only the doors open. Of all the cars I’d love to see, these are the ones I wish the hood popped as well. Many being race cars though I imagine the racing teams don’t want that.

I don’t think its a licensing issue…the cars are already in the game which should mean they have been given the rights to it in full. I think its simply a time/ resources issue. For instance, why would the R34 have a full detailed engine bay and trunk but not the R33 or R32 since the engine bays are almost identical with the exception of valve cover color…all three have the RB26. Most of these late model cars wouldn’t even be terribly involved due to the visible part of the engine bay being basically all plastic. But, for the discussion in this thread, there are more full autovista cars in 6 than in 4. On top of that, all the cars in 6 have interior views where as 4 did not. So, where I understand that everyone would prefer all 6 cars be full detailed, in no way is it of lesser quality or quantity as forza 4.

Personally I never use autovista but I would agree quality over quantity should win out.

I love being able to hop in and look around… the extra stats and graphics I don’t need so much, but a short history on the model (rather than just the make) would be good

Forza Autovista is like a concept car and Forzavista is the production version. “Well, it has four wheels like we promised but we had to take these generic parts from our other cars to save time and money.”

I would rather have the little factoids that pop up on the loading screen like in FM3. Gives me something to do while I’m waiting for the race to load.

And if the art and dev teams are spend so much ****-ing time and money on the inside of the cars, why does turning your head more than 75 degrees in cockpit cam remove the car cockpit?!

It was dismissible before when only 20 or so cars had a fully crafted interior. But now all of the cars have 100% of the interior modelled, but the non-forward views of the cockpit are still outside the car rather than in it. Ridiculous.

it is very unbalanced in this case, i was buying cars to see which are fully detailed and to my disappointment E-Type was not one of them, when some old ugly celica with ugly engine is, E-Type has one of the most beautiful engines ever made and you can’t see it in this game
