FM5 and Formula 1

Dear Community, I’m having a lot of fun with Hunt’s and Lauda’s racers, but I was wondering, what is T10 entitled to, or possibly capable of, with Formula 1? I am a huge F1 fanatic, and I would love more Formula “Juan” in FM5, but since the licensing is a complete mess and since there is already an F1 game (Codemaster’s Franchise), what does this mean for FM5? From what I understand, GT6 is getting some Senna content in the next few months, which is awesome! (Senna has been my idol for as long as I can remember.) Anything you guys want to see in FM5? Please share!
Thanks lads,
Cheers!
(P.S.)
The font size is pretty small in these new forums, haha.

I think the consensus is that you should be happy that we even got the Lotus and I wouldn’t be so sure that Turn 10 can hold onto it for the future.

Surely, the inclusion of the E21 is gladly welcomed, and a huge surprise, and although I understand the almost impossible inclusion of any future F1 cars due to licensing, I was hoping for more classic F1’s, like the McLaren MP4/4 and other Turbo monsters. I’ve having great fun in the 312T, though

i think i heard a while back that there are some categories in the multiplayer/freeplay setups that we don’t have cars for yet, such as, “60s Grand Prix,” “Pre-War Grand Prix,” and the one i’m hoping for the most: “80s Grand Prix.” Here’s hoping we get that 4/4. SENNA!!!

Wow, I did not know about any of that. Hopefully we’ll have some more Classic Formula Juan in the future :stuck_out_tongue:
Historic racers need historic tracks. Get on it, T10! :stuck_out_tongue: (Fingers crossed for Monaco and Nurburgring)

This is what I was wanting to bring up. These categories suggest we should have some good things in the way of historic F1 cars from several generations to look forward to.

I really enjoy F1 and yes Codemasters have had the licence for a while. I felt they did a good job, in fact better than I realised, as i always felt T10 could do an awesome F1 sim on the handling. Having now tried F1 car in Forza 5, and it is great, i think the overall package of the Codemasters series hits the mark.

Hopefully some more F1 cars will come out in Forza 5, maybe two from each decade since the 50’s, that would be awesome!!

I would love some older F1’s! Codemaster’s F1 2013 had some Classic DLC, but there is so much more to it! We already have Hunt and Lauda, but I would love some old school F1 with maybe Jim Clark’s Lotus or even an BRM! Doesn’t hurt to dream

I am sure you are fully aware of the fact that having the likes of Lotus 49 or BRM or Ferrari 312 would be far less interesting WITHOUT the '60s Spa, Monza, and WatGlen.

Im using a thrustmaster tx wheel and I am am not very impressed with the Lotus F1 Car

Its as though they didn’t have time to fine tune the physics, there’s just no feedback about what the car is doing and its all a bit arcade like.

Bizarre really as I love the handling and physics of Forza 5, just seems that the lotus comes up short.

Those categories are not incidental, they must have ben added for reason, either they have been planning something but in the end they ditched it, or they ar still planning it, but accidentally forgot those setup categories leaking some info - lets hope they will add some classic f1 or those that codemasters have no exclusive on

I was very surprised to see the Lotus in FM5, especially since Kimi is my favourite racer. Lets hope they add more F1 tracks.

I am happy for those of us who like driving the F1 cars. sadly while i love F1 to watch I loathe racing with them (indycars as well) myself. I think they should stay in their own game and not dilute the availability of other racers/brands/models. Besides the liciencing would be ruinously expensive for just part of a game.

Although I fully respect your opinion, allow me to disagree. I dont really think that the fact that they added three F1 cars and four indy cars has diluted in any way the availability of other racers/brands/models… The fact that we have fewer cars has not been caused by these seven cars. They are imo welcome as a way of increasing the variety of types available in the game. In the past a lot of people requested open-wheel being added to the game, and I think that with open-wheel F1 and Indy should be included as well. Your argument if valid, could then also go for people who say I loathe racing LMPs, or I loath racing GTs, or whatever other type, because they dilute the availability of other cars they like driving… But what if others (lets say a number of people significant enough for T10 to consider it reasonable to add it) like it?

My point was that if you added more F1/Indy cars, not with the number we have now. And for the record I loathe the LMPs as well but i like the GTs etc. I have no problem with them being in the game, merely that they are of no interest or value to me. I was only trying to point out that not everyone is jumping up and down at the prospect of more F1 cars. TBH if I wanted to play with them I’d by the official F1 game…

From your perspective I understand your point about the future. For someone who doesnt like them it may come as a redundant addition, because they would rather have other cars added. But lets take your example you like GTs and someone comes saying their addition would dillute the availibility of their beloved type of cars. My point is variety is welcome and I dont think that future additions (e.g. DLC) shouldnt add F1 cars. Just as it goes for other types. We have a certain variety of types (jdm, muscle, european, exotic, aussie V8, GTs, LMPs, Indys, F1) and DLCs could optimally add some new exemplars for many of these if not to all of these types. As to your argument that they should stay in their own game, this could go for all these types. If we respect our variety of opinions and tastes we should actually want a wide variety, with future additions to all of them.

OK I have to reason that there is only one Formula One car in fM5 is due to the fact that the new regulation cars are being tested for the 2014 season and once that is completed we shall see the full complement of New F1 cars in FM5, yes?!

When I saw the Lotus and the Indy cars I was over joyed. I’d love to have more of them just becasue I love having cars from my favorite teams. I wish they’d bring back some of the ALMS and Rolex GT cars, though I’m sure they probably have to work the licensing out since they combine into the TSSC now. At least I can still drive my favorite ALMS car, the #4 Team Corvette machine.

Not to be the grinch or anything, but this should really be posted in the wish list thread
