FM status update on Car Progression

Spotlight car and manufacturer discount stack, you have a 50% discount then. If i am not mistaken. Getting a 50% discount by levelling up 5 cars would be way too OP.

Just hope they don’t nerf double credits for VIP. Great news, might start playing again in a month or so

With the new progression change, you’ll be able to fully upgrade a car even at car level 1 (assuming you have enough credits). Why would you feel a need to have a fully leveled up car faster after that change? There’ll be no immediate benefit in the game - other than the manufacturer discount - to have a fully leveled up car.

I like it a lot. No more wasting 3+ hours just to find the car you upgraded isn’t good enough for what you want it for. The only change I’d make is to allow cars to continue gaining levels over 50 to show how much we’ve used that car. You don’t gain any CXP, it’s just for show.

Lots of us including me asked to let us spend credits to upgrade cars quicker. Good to see them listening. Hopefully the game will keep improving for everyone.

@T10ManteoMax

If you have 2*golfR it’ll take 89k credits each? Has it been discussed to be able to freely upgrade duplicate cars?

Question for @T10ManteoMax - will manufacturer discounts apply to the overall price of purchasing CarXP with credits? Or will the conversion rate be a set rate, regardless of manufacturer discounts?

A question, if you don’t mind me asking please Max.

Say I spend x credits in order to reach level 50 in order to upgrade a '65 Mini fully. If I then buy a duplicate Mini, will I have to spend x credits in order for that car to reach level 50 too, please?

In other words, when I buy a duplicate of that car, does it start over at Level 1? Or will it automatically start at level 50 as per the example above?

Thanks.

If you buy duplicate cars in Forza Horizon you have to pay for the upgrades too. I don’t see them changing that EVER also not in FM2023. I mean nothing forces you to buy the car again, you could also just save multiple tunings and load the one you need.

If only the servers would be faster, the loadtimes to download designs or tunings are horribly long.

Exactly the manufacturer level.

Just use your credits you earn to by car points . Surely you have credits built up. I’ve got 40 million of them. I earn mine racing online though which I love
Very happy with this news so it’s a thanks from me.

I have 2mil credits ATM.

I’m sitting here playing it now Alfa cup to be exact, thinking what is the goal of this game offline?!

If you can just slap all the upgrades to your car ( pay to win) against ai what’s the point? It’s not that the AI are that fun to race this has just made a dull offline even duller! Sometimes I kinda like just racing a stock Alfa Vs a stock BMW. Or at least restrict the cup races much more. No race tyres etc etc

Suppose this is the reason why Ive never prefered these Forza GT style games, over a concentrated season like F1 or ACC GT3 etc.

This change isn’t evolution it’s just going back to the same old game.

Well, consider me thoroughly whelmed. This is not the change that was needed (complete eradication of CarPG), nor does it go as far as it should before reaching that point (general pool of all earned Car Points). I’m also very iffy on the whole credits-for-Car Points exchange; that just smacks of someone with a mobile game resume trying to make a power play. It is a step in the right direction and more than I was expecting out of this crew. But I don’t think it’s going to be the thing that will suddenly boost morale or rope back in skeptical players who have long since written this game off because of CarPG and the many other issues plaguing Motorsport 2023.

Remember that half-hearted update in October that rearranged stuff? This is what that update should have been. What’s needed now are moonshots.

Just because you can upgrade your car doesn’t mean that you have to. As long as they don’t let the AI upgrade their cars from level 1, you should still be able to race more or less stock.

If you really want to race the same cars stock, just create Free play races and limit the max PI (as well as manufacturer, model, and year depending on how equal you want the grid to be).

If a racing suspension costs 500 carpoints, you will just pay 4500 credits then instead. You won’t have to buy carpoints with credits to then buy it with carpoints. At least this is how i understand it. I guess they will just show both prices.

Like this in the upgrade Menu.

Costs:
500 CP or
4500 Credits

Or: 500/4500 or however they will put it into the menu.

And that’s it.

Edit: Soon we can play Nordschleife probably on the 12th February already. They also said they will fix the peformance. The game just needs some time at some point it will be fine.

Maybe it’s just I don’t know how I feel, we have all been led up an down this messy path with this title.

I was just hoping for more evolution to this type of racing game. I thought with car levels xp and now credits being used we would have something much better, something that feels like progression and reward with a car and it’s levels something GT and Forza hasn’t done before, or have done but better!

What would these changes be I don’t know I’m no game designer.

But it will just end up being the same what I call pay to win/upgrade racing games.

I’m thankful they’ve listened to us I really am. and many of you have got what you wished for I’m glad.

I just thought FM8 was onto something else.

This change essentially removes car points. Unless there’s some unforeseen issue when it actually goes live, there will never again be a need for experienced players to grind a car to level it up just to get a part they want.

The way they’ve did it is clearly designed to save some face but the impact is as if CarXP didn’t exist and credits are the only economy required.

Upgrading cars will be like upgrading cars in FH5 or FM7 just with the unnecessary CarPG system on top, which you can ignore completely.

I only have 8 million credits or something, but it will be enough to get a load of cars fully upgraded to earn more credits, to then buy more cars etc.

But can use it to save yourself credits. Let’s say there’s a B class limited Featured Event. You can use credits to upgrade your car to B class level and then level it up during the event, driving a car you enjoy, and giving yourself points to potentially then upgrade it to A class.
