Visibility in Forza Horizon 5, especially if you’re using a steering wheel and cockpit view is very poor. In case of using a steering wheel, you can’t look around like you could with a controller, and there’s a look-back function, but it’s bugged for me and doesn’t work at all. Also, with a wheel you’re obviously very likely to use one of the cockpit views, in which case you can only see things directly ahead of you, and you have no idea where other cars are around you. This is a huge problem in a game like this, especially in online racing, because the roads are narrow and speeds are high, so you can cause big accidents every second because you simply have no idea where anyone else is. A solution to this could be an optional, fixed rear view mirror on the top of the screen, like in older Motorsport games, and/or proximity arrows, like in Motorsport 6 and 7.
Was going to make a thread on this but you already did, so well done on that.
I agree that having some way of showing where cars are behind you on-screen would be a benefit. Players don’t always have the time, dexterity or freedom to use the look around/back functions, especially when they’re entering a turn and focusing on their line through.
It may not “solve” the aggressiveness of people in multiplayer races, but it could help a little for those that are trying to race clean at the very least.
Forza Motorsport 7’s solution was pretty elegant, with arrows lighting up in orange the closer cars got to you.
