Forza Horizon 5 is coming to PlayStation 5 this Spring! Play early starting April 25 by pre-ordering the Premium Edition, with general access for all editions starting April 29.

If you’re already playing the game, be sure to share the news with your PS5 friends and invite them to join us at the Horizon Festival as cross-play will be available between all platforms!

Link a Microsoft Account to a PlayStation Network Account in Forza Horizon 5

Before following these steps, please ensure you have done the following:

  • Create a Microsoft account.
  • Create a PlayStation Network account.
    • Confirm the account has an active PlayStation Plus subscription to play online.
  • Install Forza Horizon 5 on the PlayStation 5 console.

Link Accounts in Forza Horizon 5

  1. Launch the game and select “Start Game” at the Title Screen.
  2. When the Microsoft Account Login menu appears, select “Link Accounts.”

  1. View the access code displayed.
  2. Visit the listed website (Microsoft account) on a browser. Scanning the on-screen QR code will also take you to the same website.
    1. Enter the code that is displayed on the in-game window, “Sign In With Your Microsoft Account.”
    2. Enter the Microsoft account information when prompted.

  1. Ensure the account details are correctly displayed on the console screen when they pop up, and select “Confirm Linking” after checking the box that verifies your account details are correct and that you understand you cannot change them later.

How to Enable Cross-Play with Friends on Forza Horizon 5

This article contains instructions for utilizing the new social features available in-game as of the April 24th, 2025, update

Enable Cross-Play

  1. Launch the game.
  2. In the Title Screen, select the Settings menu.
  3. Settings > Extras > Toggle “Crossplay” to On.
  4. You can select the toggle again to disable crossplay.

Player Actions Menu

While in the game during any Internet-connected play session:

  • PlayStation 5: Main Menu > Online > Social > Select any player’s name to bring up the Player Actions menu.

  • Xbox and PC: Main Menu > Online > Friends/Players > Select any player’s name to bring up the Player Actions menu.

  • Add Player as Friend

    • If you and the other player both play on the SAME platform: From the Player Actions menu, choose “Show Player Profile” which will bring up the Player Profile (out of game) where you can add them as a friend on the same platform you use.
    • If you and the other player play on DIFFERENT platforms: From the Player Actions menu, choose “Add MSA Friend” if you want to add them as a friend on your linked Microsoft Account. Doing this will allow you to be in-game friends with any player via your Xbox gamertag, regardless of which platform you play on.

  • Unfriend Player / Remove Player from Friends List

    • If you are playing on PlayStation 5 and unfriending a player who is on Xbox or PC:
      • From the Player Actions menu, choose “Remove Friend.”
    • If you are playing on PlayStation 5 and unfriending a player who is on PlayStation 5:
      • From the Player Actions menu, choose “Show Player Profile” which will bring up the Player Profile (out of game) where you can remove them as a friend.
    • If you are playing on Xbox or PC and unfriending a player on any platform:
      • From the Player Actions menu, choose “Show Player Profile” which will bring up the Player Profile (out of game) where you can remove them as a friend.

  • Block Player

  • From the Player Actions menu, select “Block MSA”. This will do the following:

    • Remove the player from your Friends List (if applicable)
    • Prevent the player from sending you convoy invites
    • Prevent the player’s in-game user-generated content (UGC) from appearing in UGC search results, such as photos, tunes, livery designs, and decals/vinyls

  • If you are playing on PlayStation 5, please follow the previous steps, and then do the following additional step:

    • Select “Show Player Profile” which will bring up the Player Profile (out of game) where you can block the player’s PlayStation 5 account.

  • Report a Player for Inappropriate Behavior

  • From the Player Actions Menu, choose “Report Player.”

Invite Friends to Play / Invite Friends to a Convoy

Here’s how you can play Forza Horizon 5 on PS5 with a friend who’s on Xbox or Steam:

  1. Make sure you’re connected to the internet, have an active PlayStation Plus subscription, and are in Horizon Life mode.
  2. Press the Convoy button in the Online tab.
  3. Select “Create a Convoy”
  4. Select “Friends Only”
  5. Choose from the list of your PlayStation and cross-platform friends to send them a convoy invite.
  6. At any point in time while leading a convoy, you can press the Triangle Button in the Pause Menu to view and manage your convoy to add more players or adjust privacy settings.

Here’s how you can play Forza Horizon 5 on Xbox or Steam with a friend who’s on PS5:

  1. Make sure you are connected to the internet and are in Horizon Life mode.
  2. Press the Convoy button in the Online tab.
  3. Select “Create a Convoy”
  4. Set the privacy to Friends or Invite Only.
  5. Invite Your Friend: Open the Xbox Guide by pressing the Xbox button on your controller.
  6. Navigate to the People tab and select Find Someone.
  7. Enter your friend’s Xbox Gamertag (they should have linked their PSN ID to a Microsoft Account, that has an Xbox profile provisioned on it).
  8. Once you find them, add them as a friend if you haven’t already.
  9. Go back to the Convoy menu, select Invite Friends, and choose your friend from the list. PlayStation 5 players will appear with a PlayStation icon in the friends list.
  10. Your friend will receive the invite through the in-game messaging services while playing FH5 on their PlayStation 5 console. They need to accept the invite to join your convoy.

This process allows you to seamlessly play together across different platforms. If you encounter any issues, make sure both of you have completed the introductory races and activities to unlock the online multiplayer feature in Forza Horizon 5.
