FFB problem, FFB feel changes dramaticly sometimes.

Thrustmaster TX (newest firmware, but same problem with other firmware versions) with Xbox version of forza 7.

I cant get the FFB with my TX right, it keeps feeling very muted, but here is the weird thing, sometimes after a midrace rewind the FFB suddenly gets way,way better. Suddenly I do feel the shifts, the breaking, the rev limits and the wheel gives way more information about the tires in the corners. But after a new rewind, or when I start a new race, the muted verion of the FFB is back an d I cannot get the “good FFB” back anymore.

I have found no way the fix this, sometimes the FFB get great after 3 rewinds, sometimes after 6, sometimes never. It is so frustrating because I know Forza7 with the TX can feel great, but 95% of the time it just doesnt. I tryd every setting, there is clearly something wrong.

Is it a Forza problem? A xbox problem? or a Thrustmaster TX problem. I do not have these problems in Project Cars 2.

Please help!

I’ve used a TX since FM6 and currently use it on FM7. I don’t have a similar issue.

I’ll post my settings when I get home, but there are three different ways to modify how the TX behaves.

There is a PC app that allows you to fine tune settings on the TX. The app can be found on Thrustmasters website. You basically install the app, plug the TX into the PC and you can modify some settings there.

The second method is a settings short cut built into the TX that dials up/down the feedback effects. If I recall correctly, you hit the button to the right of the steering wheel (by the xbox button) and one of the paddles. There are four or five sensitivity levels, and up/down on the paddles cycles through them. If you keep hitting right paddle it will loop back through them. There’s another shortcut for changing Degrees of Rotation on the fly, but using this can put your steering out of sync with the steering animation in the game. I usually keep mine pretty close, and prefer a low DOR (I think mine is set to 330).

The last way is changing the settings in Forza itself in advanced controls. Since you like how yours feels in PCars, I’ll just post my settings up for Forza when I get home. I run endurance races all the time though, so I keep my feedback pretty light in order to avoid fatigue over 50 lap races. Ideally you want just enough to feel what the car is doing, and no more.

Thank you for your feedback.

I use my TX leather edition with a xbox so I do no think it takes these settings from the pc app back to the xbox.

I have the DOR on default and 540 in the advanced control options of forza 7 The shortcut method for adjusting the sens levels I never heard of, so if you can check how that works for me that would be great!

As for the settings in forza 7, I tryd everything, steering stays to heavy, road, bumb and curb feel to low and very muted feedback about the tires. I do not think my setting are the issue (although I would love to see and try yours) as the FFB sometimes suddenly changes completely after pausing or rewinding. Suddenly it feels great, I feel every bump and gearshift, steering is way lighter and a lot more communicative, but then after another pause, restart of next race it is back to its muted self…

EDIT: I found the guide about how to change the sensitivity of the wheel with the mode button and the paddles. It shows that after disconnecting the wheel or restarting a game it will go back to its default sensitivity so that cannot be the problem either.

It does. The PC app is changing how the wheel itself presents to the Xbox. Think of it like a firmware setting. Besides, you’ll need to do this to update the firmware on the wheel to the latest version anyway - which you may or may not have out of the box. The Xbox does not do this for you.

It works just like I said. Hold down the button on the right of the steering wheel (next to the xbox button), and hit a paddle. You’ll notice a sensitivity change. There are about 4 or so settings and they just cycle/repeat through if you keep hitting the same paddle.

Dunno if I found how to set the default or what… but mine doesn’t change. ::: shrugs :::

Just to be clear:

  • The PC driver and control panel, only effect how the wheel behaves when it is connected to a PC.

TX PC Control panel

  • When using the wheel on Xbox, the only settings available are those within the game’s Option menu (Such as FFB, axis dead zones, etc)

  • The various “hardware” adjustments (wheel angle, sensitivity and auto-clutch) that can be modified on the wheel itself (independent of whether is is connected to a PC or Xbox) are indeed volatile and will not remain if the wheel is disconnected.

I have the exact same problem, I don’t have rewinds enabled but when I drive into the pits in endurance race and get out the FFb feels so much better.

You feel the upshifts, feel when you wheels are nearly on the edge of locking up, feel the kerbstone so much better. And when taking a corner and the car begins to slide you feel this also in the wheel.

I will post my settings later, I have my ffb at 75 when driving the BMW 1 serie, but with other front wheel drive cars I use 65.

Some info:

Doing a 27 lap race on Nurburgring Grand Prix
#5 Ebay Motors 125i M Sport - S742

This happens to me always after a pit stop.

Sounds as the same issue, yes

The newest firmware for the Thrustmaster TX is version 51.00, available here:

If you do not have the TX Manual, I would recommend downloading it, also on the same URL as above, available in 11 languages.

There are only two things you MUST do before using the wheel: (1) press the accelerator pedal and brake pedal three times fully EACH, separately; and (2) if you use manual shifting with the paddles and no clutch pedal, you set that by pressing the “A” button on the wheel and mode button simultaneously for a fraction of a second so the mode blinks and the auto-clutch is set. These two MUST be done each time you start the wheel to use it.

Did a 27 lap yesterday and after a pit stop the ffb did not get better, so this seems to be random and not after a pit like I first thought.

It is indeed random, and hard to recreate. Thrustmaster themselves recommend to set FFB strength under 50, but for me that does not solve the problem.

After the latest update it is even worse , I dont know what to do anymore

Yep, cannot believe we are the only 2 that encounter this problem with the TX.

Last night we had the first race of our season, and the FFB decided to go haywire.

Please T10 fix this.

I tryd to reset my XBOX usb ports, for me it didnt work, maybe for you it does?

Completely resetting the Xbox One console’s USB ports
(in order to fix issues such as failed self-calibration, wheel not recognized, some missing
Force Feedback effects, conflict with the gamepad, etc.)

  • The USB ports on the Xbox One are always On (even when the console is Off)
  • To completely reset the console’s USB ports:
  • Power off the console.
  • Disconnect the power cable from the back of the console
(the LED on the console’s power supply turns ORANGE).
  • Leave the wheel connected to the console.
  • Reconnect the power cable to the back of the console
(the LED on the console’s power supply turns WHITE).
  • Power the console back on using the XBOX button located on the console
  • Start the game using the wheel.

We have in our driving room two Thrustmaster TX rigs and both have this fading FFB issue. It is SO frustrating that only because of FM5+6+7 we have invested to Xbox-s, big TVs, rigs+wheels and somebody from T10/Thrustmaster in one day decided to ruin the FFB. First month of FM7 was the FFB absolutly amazing. Now we are missing mainly the understeer effect.

On third rig with fanatec v2.5 is the FFB clear and constant and always also with understeer effect. Therefor ma opion that is a problem somewhere between FM7 and TX.

I tested my TX with a pc with Forza 7 and it worked great, it is soley with the xbox I have the problem

I have a Thrustmaster TX, and I can’t say I’m having the same problem with the loss of forces until after a rewind or a pit in Forza 7 on the XBox One X, but I do know that the overall quality of the force feedback handling effects when using the TX with the PC version of Forza 7 is far superior to what it delivers on the XBox One X. My PC isn’t powerful enough to run Forza 7 in as high a detail and resolution I get on my XBox One X. but the force feedback effects more than make up for that. The car handling effects are so much more realistic that it makes driving on the PC version a much more visceral experience.

I wish I could somehow copy my wheel settings from the PC and load them into the XBox One X, but there’s no commonality between the tuning parameters that I can see. The only aspect holding back Forza 7 from being a completed experience on the XBox One (X in my case) is the rather vanilla force feedback effects, but that’s pretty big aspect in a racing/driving game!

I’ve been using the TX for a few months now and I haven’t noticed any FFB issues. However the first race after the update last night was interesting. Running the new rivals event with the Chiron. Pretty much felt like the car was diving on ice. I couldn’t take a turn faster than 20 mph without massive oversteer. Even braking while turning the wheel the slightest bit would cause oversteer and put the car in the grass. It felt like Sim steering but 100x more sensitive. Switched to the controller and the issue was completely gone. Went back to the wheel later and it felt a lot better. It was so bad at first I was looking to see if anyone had started a thread about the Chiron steering being broken. As far as the FFB issue you guys are having… Can you post your settings for comparison? I’ll check mine later and post if you’re interested. Just wondering if there’s something in the settings causing your issue.

My settings that I currently use.

Vibration scale: 100
FFB Scale: 65
Wheel rotation angle: 900
Steering linearity: 50
FFB understeer: 100
FFB minimum Force: 100
