Festival Playlist events and rewards Nov. 18th-25th (Autumn S1)

Totally really they did a great job.
They have no clue why “easy win” style events became popular in the first place.
These type weekly Forzathon challenges are essentially the same race over and over again and are boring. They prioritized squashing loopholes instead of remedying this design error and making players feel more positively about these challenges.

One of the hallmarks of a bad TRPG gamemaster is the tendency to overly restrict the players’ actions and try to make them do what him want.
They seem to be trying to follow that path.

They do have a clue and that’s why they “fixed” that loophole. In FH4 after a while they started adding more and more street races for weekly Forzathon challenges. I remember multiple seasons where you had to complete like 4 street races, as they couldn’t be blueprinted. I was personally expecting this change in FH5 after seeing this in FH4.

They want to stretch out the time that people spend with playing the game. Sadly this is game design today. This is what business execs and corporate management expect them to do. As I said in a previous post, the aim for the company is to earn money and grow and us having fun only matters for so long as our “fun” is enough for us to be convinced to buy the next DLC or game (or microtransactional items in such games). Technically most console/PC games today are designed mostly the same way as mobile games. There this business model was proven to work. This is also the reason why most game companies spend most of the development budget on marketing and not on developing the game. Why spend time and money on actually developing the game, when you can release it incomplete after a massive marketing campaign that gets people buy the game? (eg. CP2077) FH5 is a similar case as it lacks microtransactions, but it is regularly updated, so they need to get as many people as they can to buy the game and then keep playing it often for as long sessions as possible.

This makes 100% chance from the companies’ perspective. They need to gain the profits to stay alive on the market and they need to be able to pay their employees as well. Not trying to defend this business method, but try to look at it from multiple perspectives. I’m pretty sure that if any of us were in charge, we’d try to look for ways to increase our income and market share and we’d likely come to do things this way in the end.

One more thing is that if the counsumers’ preferences change then companies have to adapt. So if they realize that this kind of game design is not popular and turns off people, then they’ll stop doing it as it makes them lose money. But the way I see it, it’s not going to happen soon.

Fist impressions of the new playlist:
First went for the Arcade, but the other players disappeared when it began so I couldn’t finish it
Went for the Eliminator, but couldn’t challenge other cars
Went into a Playground games session in horizon open, but it didn’t register me stealing the crown

Really, fantastic work

Can we no longer use blueprints to complete parts of the playlist? Been trying my own blueprints but doesn’t seem to be registering.

Also really not a fan of this new playlist format, especially being forced to do Eliminator, Forza Arcade, Super 7 and the changes to PR Stunts make no sence. Takes the fun away, also hate having to do trailblazers.

Looks like it and that is really bad news all round.

What happened to playing the game your way?

I created a few “5 Second Sprints” in FH4 to get through these weekly, what end up becoming monotonous events as not all of us have the time or inclination to spend time completing races that may have been completed several times already (AKA Boooooring).

Maybe have to start using the ‘Auto Drive’ option to do them for me and waste more electric than necessary.

We should complain to the developers and tell them that they are not being very environmentally responsible removing such a feature.

The cumulitive additional power used worldwide by those who’d prefer to get through these events ASAP will be huge as consoles, PCs etc aren’t free to run.

These corporations should get more stick about this. They pontificate about being green and saving the climate etc. on one hand, but on the other they produce games which incentivise wasting electricity on busywork. But this is the games industry which has promoted uber high resolutions which in itself, all things being equal, requires vastly more GPU horsepower = more electricity, which doesn’t come from unicorns and rainbows.

Cryptocurrency rightly gets a lot of stick for its waste of electricity, getting computers to do ‘work’ for no actual benefit per se. These type of gaming tasks are exactly the same.

In fact given that gamers make Microsoft money, arguably we are doing ‘mining’ to all intents and purposes by using our consoles and computers to run this game, to make real money for them. Who would play these playlist activities because we enjoy them per se? Do this wet playground event on slippery mud in slow rear wheel drive cars, have fun…?! No thanks. (I actually did it just now in an upgraded car, but most people were using stock RWD rentals and I doubt they were enjoying it much.)

Is this season broken?
Constant disconnects again.
And Daily challenges aren’t registering. And now looks like one has been removed.
No point even attempting any of these if half of it doesn’t work.

The whole damn game is broken!

So going to waste my time looking for a King event in Horizon open. Loading takes forever in open which you know. Doesn’t show what they are on so forcing people to wait for nothing and possibly missing it. Yea awesome. Worst way ever to get people to spend more time playing. Pathetic. Just make the racing good. Jesus. Ridiculous. I’m an idiot for even going along with this. :man_facepalming:

Danger Sign (2 points) | Mountain Top | 1,230.3 feet | (A800) Classic Muscle
Reward: Wheelspin

So if I have to beat my previous record I’m screwed because I set my previous record with an S2 Jesko! Please explain how this is going to work out???

Easy.
I got it barely with Charger (376 m). PB is 712 m with X class Jesko.

You don’t have to beat your record. If you look carefully on the map screen at the danger sign you’ll see an Autumn icon with the distance required. I did this one easily in the correct class car but well short of my PB.

As I posted above, I didn’t have to beat my personal best - I managed it fine with a Hoonigan Nova, some 300m under my personal best.

Super7 just says Wheelspin for me.

And I’m getting the 1m more Seasonal BS. Even after restarts.

Edit: I tried with 3 different vehicles over many attempts and restarts. It eventually unlocked in the 1968 Dodge Dart Hemi Super Stock. And yes, the other cars were Classic Muscle and tuned to A800.

Yep. No matter how far I get I seem to keep getting the message that I need 1 more ft to get the objective (even on a jump that was 100ft further than the seasonal requirement). something is bugged yet again.

Check that you’re in classic muscle and it’s tuned to A800. How difficult it is to read?

Almost lost it with speed zone but then I managed to get new PB. Stunts done.

Electricity I use comes from renewables so it’s not big deal. That could be issue in undeveloped countries like US where 95% of electricity is produced with oil and coal.

The game has a bug since release where you can do the task exactly as it tells you to, but it still says you are one unit (of whatever) short.

It’s a known glitch. Nothing to do with reading ability.

LOL. You need to chill out. I’m not new man. Yes I KNOW the type of car and the tune. Maybe you should get off the little box you’re standing on and relax. If I was in the wrong car, anyway, it would tell me so you do realize that eh? It literally is failing after multiple attempts so take your idiotic attacks somewhere else.

Cheers!

No need to be offended. Relax. Go do something else 10 mins come back to jump. It should work too.
