JENSEN INTERCEPTER;. I DO LIKE THE JAVALIN FOR RACING MORE THAN ANY OTHER MUSCLE CAR

JENSEN INTERCEPTER

Not a real muscle car guy (more of a Porsche/BMW fan), but the one car I would definitely crave is the '69 Boss 429:

That looks like the definition of a muscle car in my mind, and I like that it’s a little understated (relatively speaking  ) compared to the flashier 302s.

Another rare AMX iii3:

Ooooh, lets talk about muscle cars. I like that.

You’ll be sorry you got me started. I was born in 1972. So… we grew up with muscle cars. In America. In Wisconsin. It’s just part of the culture. I owned a 74 Malibu Wagon that had a built up 350. I also had a 75 Camaro. I had cousins that were into cars that had some good stuff. One of my Cousin’s had a 67 Camaro. I got to ride in that a few times. It had a 396 but that seized and he put a 350 in it. He also had a 75 Nova SS. I remember him taking corners real fast with it and I was hooked. I loved that steering wheel.

Anyways… Muscle cars are cool, BUT, I eventually owned a few imports and felt they were much funner to drive. An early 80’s Civic and a 95 Tercel. And I drove a few other types. I just LOVED driving them cars. Moreso than muscle cars. But, they’re just different. I love how light weight and little engines can be so fun. And the gearboxes and shifting just feels so right. And they also feel like they’re made more for corners moreso than the big muscle cars.

And there’s probably some truth to that. Especially if you have cars that are just stock or whatever. I never had the dough to have an SS or RS or performance version of anything. Other than the Malibu that was super heavy. Chirped them in all 3 gears because of b&m shift kit. And I even did throw it around corners. But it’s best duty was cruising. And hauling band equipment. LOL.

Anyways… So… I have a tenancy to like the smaller muscle cars. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be a 65’ Mustang Fastback. But if I had to go bigger, I’d go with the 70 Camaro. And then there is the 69’ 302 Stang. That would be up there on the list. I think those are the tops. I’m not a mopar guy.

I will say this, I don’t like how the 65 notchback handles in the game. I need to figure out how to get it to feel good to me. And a fastback just looks so much better to me. I wish they would’ve done a fastback in that model. But the notchback has it’s followers and I know that it was raced quite a bit also.

Out of the ones I’ve driven in the game the Javelin is the best. Hands down. That thing just handles beautifully. For the muscle cars. There might be better ones, and better tunes for better ones, but it’s just real good. The 69 Z28 is crazy fast. But that front end is all over the place and I can’t get it to behave yet. But it’s so fast. It’s like that engine just wants to rev without anything holding it back.

So… I think there are different categories for what’s to like in a muscle car. Looks, performance and handling. I don’t know if any one of them fits that bill completely for me. But I hear the 69’ 302 Mustang in Forza5 is pretty darn good.

Cool I would love to run the 302, hmu sometime if your on I race 350 and 550 hp

What is hmu mean? And the only problem is, the 302 is only in Forza 5. Forza 4’s version of the 70 mustang has a big block 429. I don’t like the way that one handles. Unless you mean the newer Boss 302? They do have the more recent one in Forza 4. I forget what year. 2012? Something like that. I should download that one. I bet it’s pretty sweet.

I’ve gotten some decent times out of the 70 429 for ME. But to me it’s a very frustrating car to drive without knowing how to tune what I don’t like about it. It is front heavy, if your just a little past good breaking points it understeers. And you have to break earlier than most cars as it is so it’s easy for me to go past a good breaking point.

The upsides are it feels really planted when you do take corners at the right speed, it feels good when driving fast. Meaning it doesn’t wander too much. And it’s powerful and fast. Another bad thing is it doesn’t give you a very good view through the windshield.

Speaking of favorite muscle cars. I just built up the 70 Chevelle to top of B class and I’m really liking that car. It handles better than I thought it would for such a monster. It feels pretty balanced. I should try it in A class too. I love the view out of the windshield. I think it’s a nice looking car. My Dad had one before I was born but totalled it. It reminds me of my Great Uncle who had a 71. And I love the cowl induction. I never noticed it until yesterday but the thing actually opens up when you’re driving in the game. I was like, cool!

groovier If you are ever interested in tuning some cars to 600 HP @ 2400 LBS for drags send me a message. I am on every night at like 11pm or after. I have around 10 cars tuned for that. I also have some cars tuned for 350 HP circuit racing also. I always race on expert difficulty besides the driveline I use that on most tracks.

I haven’t got into drag racing yet. But it might be something I do sooner or later. I race A,B, and C mostly. And I’m on a lot at that time too. Central time. My gamertag is different in the game though. It’s “abinmyveins”.

Is the Jensen interceptor a muscle car…? real life it was classed as a Grand Tourer and had the 330 bhp Chrysler 383ci (6276cc) V8 engine and Torqueflite 3 speed automatic gearbox
The Jensen Interceptor is a sporting GT-class car. They were hand-built at the Kelvin Way Factory, West Bromwich near Birmingham in England by Jensen Motors between 1966 and 1976. The Interceptor name had been used previously by Jensen for the Jensen Interceptor made between 1950 and 1957 at the Carters Green factory. Jensen had extensively used glass-reinforced plastic for the fabrication of body panels in the preceding two decades, but the new Interceptor saw a return to a steel body-shell instead of glass-reinforced plastic and by having the body designed by an outside firm, Carrozzeria Touring of Italy, rather than the in-house staff. The early bodies were Italian-built, by Vignale, before production by Jensen themselves began – with subtle body modifications – in West Bromwich
The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines muscle cars as "any of a group of American-made 2-door sports coupes with powerful engines designed for high-performance driving. A large V8 engine is fitted in a 2-door, rear wheel drive, family-style mid-size or full-size car designed for four or more passengers. Sold at an affordable price, muscle cars are intended for mainly street use and occasional drag racing. They are distinct from two-seat sports cars and expensive 2+2 GTs intended for high-speed touring and road racing.
As for my favourite muscle car… Could i pick one, oh no as I love how the muscle car looks and sometimes envy of countries that are able to still drive these cars in this modern day and the car still looks great and fits right in alongside, which can also still out shine a modern sports car. Could not begin to know how it feels to own a piece of history and drive one everyday… Some people have all the luck…

I think Merriam-Webster MOSTLY has it right. Except for Trans Am racing were all of those cars and one of the most popular form of racing in the US at the time. I think. At least it had a good following. Maybe not as popular as drag racing and NASCAR though. Muscle Cars on road courses is a beautiful sight. And they were nothing to sneeze at.

Musclecars are mid-size two doors equipped with big block enegines from full-size cars. 1964 Pontiac Tempest started this trend that lasted until 1971
