Fanatec finally for Forza 5

I have good news for anyone who yearns to use their Fanatec pedals with the Thrustmaster TX wheel. Basher boards released an adapter today to make Fanatec pedals compatible with the Thrustmaster wheels for XBone and PC. I was lucky enough to purchase one and can’t wait to put the Club Sport petals back to work. The TX wheel is a descent wheel and paired up with the Fanatec pedals will make a formidable racing rig. Braking will be consistent again. Yahooooooo!

Congratulations on successfully beating the rush and managing to purchase a CPX adapter! Thank you! This email is just a confirmation to let you know I have received your order. I will be processing all of the orders over the weekend. Some of the orders will be going out Saturday and some may end up going out Monday. When your order ships I will be sending a shipping notification email with tracking information.

Sincerely,

Jon

How does the clutch work with a pedal set up? I use
manual / clutch on the controller and it is much faster than normal manual so i would only
look to switch if the shifting was as quick
as manual/clutch on controller.

How much money would the above setup cost? Not
counting the rig. Just wheel / pedal / adapter
and whatever else you need.

You would have around $700 US in the Wheel, CS pedals and adapter. I already had a Fanatec set up from previous Forzas so I didn’t have to spend $250 for the pedals. I spent $450 on the Thrustmaster TX wheel for Forza 5 so that was a chunk of change. In the US the adapter can be had for $45. The Fanatec CS pedals feel just like you are in a real car, they even look like they belong in a real car. No plastic, a big hunk of metal. I don’t think the clutch would be as quick as a controller because your foot has to travel much farther than your finger does to do the same thing. If you want to shift really fast, the padle shifters in the wheel will shift as fast as your fingers can move them. I hope this helps. I’ve never raced with a controller so I’m not a good person to ask for comparisons.

Just before 10am (7am pacific) i stopped everything at work and sat there constantly refreshing bashers CPX page. I must have slow fingers because when it went up for sale I did not get one in time. He said they sold out in 2 minutes. Who knows how many he released today. Hopefully I can get in on the next release.

Trousy66,
-The wheel, Thrustmaster TX, can be purchased from many online retailers (Amazon, Gamestop, Best Buy) and retails for $400
-The adapter, currently sold out, is $45 + shipping at CPX Adapter | BasherBoards
-The pedals are from Fanatec.com The Clubsports are $250 or the CSR Elite are $150. The regular CSR pedals dont work with this adapter.
All prices are US dollars.

Basher’s website says compatible with Clubsport version 1, 2, and Elite.

Hurt, I waited until my computer clock changed to 10 Am Eastern to refresh, I figured John was using his computer clock also. I Use Pay Pal all the time so my shipping and payment info is already loaded. My purchase was complete and Pay Pal confirmed my payment within 20 seconds. I made 3 clicks and had no info to enter. I hope this helps you when the next batch is released, or maybe I just got lucky!

Now I’m hoping Basher Boards will make adapters so we can use our CSRs and CSREs with XBone. I would imagine he will make an adapter for the new CS shifters since he has adapters for other shifters. Mine is mounted to my cockpit but I have never used it. I didn’t get it till after Forza 5 released, and I never looked back mainly because switching wheels for two different games is a pain.

We should lobby Basher Boards hard to help us use our Fanatec rigs again. Don’t get me wrong, I like the TX wheel and it does a good job in the interim, but it isn’t a CSRE with the Formula 1 rim.

This just made me pull the trigger on buying the TX wheel today! I was kinda holding out for Fanatec to come around, but If I can get the clubsports and use them with the Thrutmaster TX, then that’s good news:-)
Kudos to Basher for his work! Now just waiting for Thrustmaster to get that shifter out!

Looking forward to trying this out on Forza!!

On Fanatec’s FB page, they say they have several announcements to make very soon.

Too late for me - I’ve jumped ship already like a lot of their customers.

Yep me too. I have the Thrutmaster TX wheel, just orded a set of Fanatec CSR elite pedals and as soon as Basher has a pedal converter availabe for me I will order that as well. The motor and base of the TX is very good. I am also going to get the GTE rim and shifter. I would have to hear some overwhelming reviews of Fanatec’s wheel when its out to consider going back. One thing I liked about the CSR wheel was the on wheel adjustments. The TX wheel doesn’t have that, it would be nice if the folks at T10 and Thrustmaster put their efforts together in a future update to have more options than just FFB and wheel rotation angle. Damping, wheel speed, linearity to start.

I never owned a Fanatec, so I didn’t have a problem when they weren’t compatible with the X1, but I do have a TX and if Fanatec does release a new wheel at a pretty fair price, it would be worth looking at and seeing if there is any benefit in switching.

I’ve never used a wheel, and really want to, but they so bloody expensive.

Is there any cheap and slightly reasonable ones?

Thrustmaster have just released this, but it is nothing special at all. Its 270 degrees only. It also has a “bungee cord” system to provide linear resistance. Honestly, you would be better of and saving for a TX, or waiting to see what Fanatec may, or may not offer for the X1. The only other alternative would be the MadCatz wheel, when it eventually goes on sale that is.

I dont know where you are in the world, but on Amazon in the uk, the price of the TX keeps dropping below the £270 mark. Infact, it is currently sitting at £255.37; and sold by Thrustmaster directly through Amazon. At that price, the TX is 100% worth it; its only £5 shy of a £100 discount on the RRP.

I received my CPX adapter today from Basher Boards. It works great. It will take some time to get used to the CS pedals again. It will be like catching up with an old friend.

I just bought my TX for £225 from Box.co.uk.

Very reasonable!

Not wanting to over worry you, but I paid £213 for mine back in February, and it developed a fault last week. I contacted Thrustmaster and they had to investigate why the wheel was sold to me so cheaply, and advised me that because of the price they didn’t have to honour the warranty but did out of goodwill and I’m expecting my replacement tomorrow. Hopefully if you have an issue they will show the same goodwill to you.

I bought the GTE and F1 add-on last week before my base broke, so looking forward to getting these on the replacement base. My CPX adapter has left the USA and is on it’s merry way to the UK

Thanks dude, I appreciate your concern. However, I’m confident that Thrustmaster will honour the warranty because I found the TX wheel on Box.co.uk through the official Thrustmaster website. They’re an approved seller so if you’re in the UK I think this is the best option, I couldn’t find it cheaper anywhere else!

The Fanatec CS pedals are working great with the Basher Boards adapter. It’s nice to finally use a quality set of pedals again. After racing for a couple of hours, I have concluded that the stock TX pedals main weakness is their lack of adjustment and therefore questionable consistency. I can’t speak for the T500 pedal set. I have my gain and ABS vibration set so that when I feel the vibration I know I’m going to lock up shortly and I can back off the brakes a little. The pedals do compliment the TX wheel nicely, I feel it is a quality rig now.

Glad to hear this!

Just bought the adapter on basher’s site, managed to get one at the 2pm release:-) My CSR Elite pedals are on the way from Los Angeles to Vancouver Canada.

Cant wait to try both out! I’ve never tried a set of sim pedals with a load cell brake, I have the CSR’s with my CSR Wheel. I’ve heard nothing but positive results.
Anyways I ll follow up with my take on this combo when they both arrive.

Yes, as long as the seller is authorized Thrustmaster will honor the warranty. In my case, I purchased from an unauthorized seller on eBay and Thrustmaster ultimately decided to send me a replacement wheel base when mine fried. Of course they may not do that for everyone, but that was an awesome show of support on their part when they could have told me I am out of luck.
