uhh . . . anyone got any ideas here?
. . . and another thing, on the tarmac the Racing Escort would catch me up easily but on the dirt the TZ2 was catching the Escort easily . . . does that make sense?
I’m in a stock thing, the Escort’s PI 636 (that’s the stock PI)
No idea about that ^ but I’ve watched that video a fair few times and in about half of them it does look like the escort might have its nose ahead. Thats while you are racing, the finishing angle shows a more obvious picture.
Although we know these things happen. I got pipped in a co-op seasonal street championship by an ai a month or so ago and I was several car lengths ahead.
I think it pretty much boils down to what position you started in the line up.
All cars don’t actually start at the same time but when they actually cross the start line.
So even though you’re up front and believe you finished first, the other driver may actually have finished quicker from when they crossed the start and finish line.
forgot - this was the seasonal championship so highly skilled robots and I started in 8th, that Escort was in pole position all three times, of course
not sure I follow the starting position point you’re making, though, but if it’s what I think you mean then I should have come first as I was behind on the starting grid
Cool, was something i vaguely remember seeing in a post a couple years back.
Happened in FH4 too where you could ride them from right behind over the line and get first.
Sounded plausible to me at the time but your scenario sounds messed up.
Anyone know why the video just shows up as an image for me? No clicky. No watchy.
Tried restarting browser, refreshing page, using the mobile app, etc.
it’s weird, I think it’s something to do with gamerdvr, sometimes it tells me it can’t be played or something but clicking on it again solves it - but just now it just went ahead okay
I’ll changed the link to TrueAchievements
It’s listed under won’t fix
Most of what I’ve noticed about where my car is registered seems to be based on where my character is rather than the border of the car, with the exception of checkpoints. The finish line in Flag Rush and in Hide and Seek are examples where you can test a bit. Speed zones might work for testing too.
Seems like that isn’t the case with the drivatars. In a close finish the front of the drivatar is used. It’s just theory but seems to match when this happens to me.
hm, driver position - in the video it does look like the robot driver might be in front of my driver, or do you mean the player driver has to be in front of the whole of the robot car?
I believe at the finish line in races, the game uses the very front of the drivatar vehicle for position. This is just based on likely logic imo.
Eliminator- using the soft boundary wall you can see where the game considers you inside or outside of the arena. This is what I have drawn my conclusions on.
I was told by support, once upon a time, that Xbox network packets, get priority over PC network packets with the server, and that in some cases, it will apear to both players involved, that player A won, and the server will declare Player B the winner…
It’s a feature i guess…
could be the other way around, I’m using an Xbox!
No clue then, just sharing what i know…
As you can see, this was 6 years ago, so i expect a fix any day now…
I believe what waznewz is referring to relates to online racing vs other people and is probably the best information I’ve seen on it. Edit: tbh haven’t seen much else but it’s all been along this line.
In this case it’s racing vs the drivatars. Here are some examples of what i was talking about.
Still in the arena, taken from the viewpoint out of the arena.
Now outside the arena, taken from the viewpoint out of the arena.
Here the hider car hasn’t gotten to the destination yet.
thanks - first two pics are the same one, though!
edit - no, they’re not, have to look more closely!
me being thick - I see now
I think i may have mentioned it already and the above does not explain how it occurs.
I have been in player vs AI and Co-op and have witnessed and have had occur to myself from behind wins.
These are wins where clearly the opponent (or team mates) car is in front of me at the finish line. I am bonnet to tail with them, basically i am pushing them over the line.
I win even though i should by all rights be second.
I still believe the position on start grid and time ftom start to finish is what triggers this behaviour.
I still can’t quite get my head around it. Everyone starts at exactly the same time, so from that point of view, the one over the line first is the one who took the least time.
If it’s the time over the starting line then on the whole the one at the back has a timer starting later. If that’s the case then I can see how it might work - but that doesn’t apply in the race in my video because I was behind on the starting grid.
Unless I am misunderstanding?
No i don’t think you’re misunderstanding.
I think the bug happens in a few various ways.
Had the exact same thing occur in FH4 but late in the games life rather than early.
I just accept it as part of the game these days and try to have some distance between myself and second now.
definitely!
