Enough with the Yas Marina already!

In the hoppers. Even leagues, even the new can-am league. I have nothing against the track, I like it. Online though it’s just a cheatfest. I go out of my way to run clean laps but doing that still attracts idiots. Rarely do you ever see someone NOT cutting the corners or chicanes or extending the trackside so that they can get an advantage. You run cleanly and some clown still takes you out cutting the corner and barges you off when they come out in front. It’s quite horrific online.

Can you at least lessen the excessive regularity of the Yas Marina tracks please?

Yas Marina should be dropped from multiplayer altogether at least until they can implement a fix. It would be a shame because the track is a great track, I say drop it and replace with maybe Monza full without the 1st corner chicane, or le mans full. There are some tracks I never see in multiplayer.

I agree that Yas Marina is a very exploitable circuit in Multiplayer; there are at least 3 known spots where people regularly cut corners.

As for its frequency however, you’d have to do a more controlled test as it could simply be a subconscious bias towards its appearance that makes you think it shows up too often.

I did a 100 race test in the B/600 Hopper a while back, and found that Sebring was far more prevalent:

Sebring is alright though. Only really two spots where people can exploit cutting. Even then you can reel it back quite easily. Unlike Yas frikkin Marina.

It pops up as at least 3 layouts in the Can Am league. I would call it over represented there but I don’t have that sort of data to back up that claim. The tracks also pop up in the same order every night I believe so the fact that I sign on and off at about the same time may skew my view of it as it pops up in the rotation during the hours I play.

I’d be happy if I didn’t see it in the hoppers again. Imo that track is pretty terrible even without corner cutting, I agree with Kimi Raikkonen’s assessment of it.

That guy is hysterically funny.

“Does your helmet have a special meaning for you like other drivers?”
“Ya it protects my head”

He’s a straight shooter, thats why I like him lol.

I always disliked this track. It’s not horrible or anything and I’m glad it’s in the game, but I find it a bit boring. But yes, I agree that it is a total cheat fest online. On the other hand, it’s a total advantage if you are playing in career

Taking all pros and cons of all tracks into consideration, I really don’t find this track to be any worse than any other when racing on line.

For me, the intentional, malicious crashers are a bigger issue than the corner cutting, and crashing occurs on all tracks.

I raced Yas till it just got too frustrating. When I see it now I hit “Y to spectate”. Cirque de la Sarthe is a close second

It seems to come up in one variation or another all the time in multiplayer and most of the time it wins the vote. I can’t believe Turn10 have done very little in the way to stop the cutters, especially as people were complaining about the exact same thing in forza 5.

I have a fix for Yas Marina online. I hate myself for thinking it, and I doubt this suggestion will be popular, but here goes: turn the Sticky Grass effect up to 11.

I’m afraid I have to agree with you there. I think It’s the only solution.

Why not do something like FM1 did way back in the day, and tack on time a time penalty for all the time you’ve spent exceeding track limits? I think I’d prefer that to sticky grass.

I like that idea to. That would work.

That’s not a bad idea, if you knew how it actually worked. In FM1 and FM2, they added a time penalty if you went off track, exceeded/cut track limits, or made contact with a wall/barrier or another car (whether the contact was your fault or not). However, the time penalty only affected your lap time. For it to work properly, it would need to affect your race time, and that may still not be enough. I still say sticky grass and tarmac is the best method Forza had to discourage corner cutting. If you couldn’t get away with it (98% of the time due to Nürburgring and a few others), you wouldn’t bother trying.

So, if you get knocked off the track multiple times, or just overshoot a few corners, you get penalised?
