On several circuits there is quite a high penalty for getting a chicane or corner wrong, cutting across the grass and then suddenly coming to an almost complete stop as the game thinks you are cheating the corner. Why, why, why does there seem to be no price to pay whatsoever for corner cutting at YAS MARINA? - or EAU ROUGE come to that?
I am sick of being the one who doesn’t cheat while others, not necessarily rammers, ignore the track limits and drive pretty much wherever they like. Did the developers not think at all when they put this game together? There are precious few circuits in this game as it is so it’s a shame more thought didn’t go into the use of the ones that are here.
That’s why I’m not gonna race online on Yas anymore, if this track has the most votes it’s for sure there are a lot of cheaters in the lobby, so I quit and find another lobby. Or sometimes I’ll park my car at the chicane and send everyone that keeps cutting corners there a message: cheater.
If you can’t beat em, join em, probably the only way around it, I hate corner cutting myself, I like to prove myself at the end of a race with a decent time and a clean lap but on the odd occasion you get some pretty quick guys doing it so you have to follow suit or be left behind. Usually I can keep in front of the cheaters, usually they do it because there slow but it can turn other people in the lobby to doing the same thing, behaviour breeds behaviour! so you might as well.
Yas is a mess though it does make for a good challenge to be clean and do well while others are corner cutting. Its always amusing seeing a player run laps on par or better than mine, and me immediately thinking there’s a fast guy in the lobby and then later noticing the same player consistently finishing other races with a fastest lap more than 5 seconds slower than me.
Not everyone who cuts at Spa is trying to do it. Its a difficult line to hit and if you hit it wrong the car understeers and it looks like you’re trying to cut it.
Does this really affect you at all? Seems you are on the fringe of being that guy who was posting a month ago about how everybody that runs fast times is cheating. Most of those who cut corners don’t end up winning or finishing well anyways. I have only seen this really be an issue twice, once a FRF guy was cutting the entire track blatantly at Yas. Once a guy was running an Elan at Sebring Short and he posted an absurd time. Upon watching the replay he cut several parts of the infield, still only finished 3rd. Spa you are allowed to cut that corner cleanly and most do so. The developers may have been using some foresight when allowing it b/c could you imagine coming up the hill with 7 or 8 cars parked due to being stopped dead in their tracks? Would cause more problems that it would solve. If the OP is really bothered by this join a race league and problem no more.
I always vote against this track when it comes up and it seems almost everyone does for precisely this reason. But as Braindead nl said - when I do see people vote for it, I know there are a bunch of corner cutters in the lobby. I don’t leave the lobby (though I probably should) instead I take the race “off” and pick a random un-tuned car to play with and let everyone run by me at the start. I WONT cut the corners here, I end up getting passed on the same few turns by basically everyone in the lobby cutting the corners but its funny that I still beat a few because they crash out.
Bail - don’t join them. You don’t have to win every race. just let these guys cut the corners to win and pat yourself on the back when you blow them out on the next course. I like to believe that some of these guys see me NOT cutting the corners and think to themselves heck - I shouldn’t cut the corners either.
Regarding Spa - I’m okay with that one because as ECT Loco UBoG stated (or I think he is saying) when you are driving in a crowd up the corner and one person hits it wrong -without that overrun area there is nowhere to go to avoid a pile up. Even when I’m driving by myself I’ll mess up that corner sometimes and get 4 wheels in that overrun area.
Don’t worry OP, some of us do respect motorsport and drive the tracks and lines properly. The guys that cut corners at Yas are the ones missing out on a great experience. Yas is a very fun and exciting track when you race the proper lines. It’s also not difficult to take Eau Rouge properly but people don’t care or are lazy drivers. I hate the cutters too man but I just run my race. The cutters usually finish poorly anyway because they lack any skill as others have already said. Even if they do beat you by cutting, at the end of the day you know you still are the better driver because you respect motorsport and drive the tracks the way they’re meant to be driven.
After reading the replies I think I will stay true to racing and “not cheat” as at the end of the day that’s exactly what it is. The policy of “if you can’t beat them, join them” would simply make me a cheater too and I refuse to bring myself down to that level.
As for Eau Rouge I still believe there should be a penalty for cutting the corner. If there was a collection of stopped cars at that corner because they all drove off line it would just give me a greater incentive to keep between the lines. Yes I have got that corner wrong in the past and when that happens I am still a little disappointed that I can carry on regardless. It is frustrating that when I get that corner wrong it costs me time as I try and get my car back under control where as the “racers” who choose to ignore it are lapping so much quicker.
It is difficult to corner cut on street circuits as they have little obstacles like walls in the way so it surely wouldn’t have been too difficult to put in more tyre barriers like the ones at the last chicane at the Nurburgring GP.
The only time I cut on Yas is when I’m going to take the corner properly then get smashed about by all the cutters and I will do it next lap to catch back up, all is fair in love and war but it’s just your opinion, I don’t mind losing if it is fair and square, if the guy who beats me is faster than me then well done to that guy. I probably do win about 90% of the races I’m in just because there isn’t any decent racers in the hoppers but if I get taken out by corner cutters I will catch them back up by following there line, some people aren’t bothered about winning but that’s why I play you could say I’m very competitive, not been on forza in a while though, my recent gaming time has been taken up by destiny… must get them engrams n loot (crazy I know). I bet I could still jump back on without playing for the last month or so and it will be still the same repetitive boring goings on. Suppose we have to put up with the Rammers and Cutters, they should be reprimanded but I doubt anything will be done about it, just block/report em and keep playing.
