Please increase volume of engine sound during single player game play while using Hood camera view. Will be a nice enhancement to game play.

I completely agree. The only way to fix this now is to tweak the sound settings to ensure the engine is heard clearly. My main concern is that some cars require more fine-tuning than others to achieve optimal results.
As a quick workaround, I suggest significantly reducing the volume for Opponent Cars and Environments. This should help prioritize the engine sound and may improve your overall experience. Not perfect but it works for me

100% voted. They sound muted, weak and far away in hood, bonnet, and even cockpit. Doesn’t apply 100% to every single car in the game but it affects nearly every car- e.g. reasonably good sounds in chase, then you go into cockpit and bonnet/hood, they suddenly sound weak, lacking impact, and as if coming from a couple of hundred metres away.

Correct - it’s not perfect, but somewhat helps bring up the quiet and muted hood/bonnet sounds. Somewhat. it’s a dynamic range issue, ultimately, they will need to remaster the frequences in surround sound channels for those views.
