There has been a lot of talk about the misrepresentation of the VIP Bonus in game, which I feel is justified. However, it occurs to me that we should probably be equally upset that the bonuses for turning off assists have also been removed from the game. Where as before, we were rewarded for increasing the difficulty and pushing ourselves to try harder by turning off ABS, TCS or using Manual+Clutch, now we need a Mod Card that give us increased CRs for racing like that. This is an issue that doesn’t just effect the the buyers of some editions, or add ons, it effects EVERYONE! So if you want to get the mods to receive the same bonuses for more difficult driving, you now have to purchase Prize Crates. They are random, and temporary, so you have to buy more. So basically, they are making us reliant on Prize Crates to earn CR. Turn 10 are planning on introducing Tokens into the game soon, to help buy them, so basically we loose features so they can charge us money to kind of get them partially back?Plus, it’s a Prize Crate, that we are awarding to ourselves? I think the Prize is the Crates of money they hope to make off us from all of this!
No, they don’t. Previously you could get +53 % with no assists and +50 % with unbeatable AI. Now you get +100 % with unbeatable AI. Race length has the same effect, the longer a race, the more you get (but base payout is the same). The real problem is that a lot of mods are going against what players want. Like if you are driving without assists, why should you use mods that reward you for enabling them? The dare mods in Forza 6 made much more sense. Also mod packs don’t make you money unless you play longer races than the standard setting. You barely make back what you spent on the crate in the first place otherwise. And in Forza 6 you got mods as rewards for free, in Forza 7 they have to be bought (well, unless you have all 300 outfits that are available as levelup rewards, after those the third reward switches to a collection of five random mods).
Actually, Assist Mods specify the maximum level of assist you can be on to qualify for their reward - i.e. the “Hard Braking” mod requires you to have, AT MOST, ABS On, and will not reward you if you have Assisted Braking. If you’re playing with no assist on you can literally load up any mod and it will pay up the bonus.
100% vs. 103%? Really? That’s not much of a difference.
Mod cards must be bugged in some way. The mod status should be the minimum level of assist required such as ABS On replacing the assist for someone who uses Assisted braking but should also give the bonus for someone using ABS off. Should be reported as a bug.
You do not have to enable the assist to get the mod reward. If you drive no abs then you will get the abs on mod reward. Ditto the braking line only assist if you drive no line.
I think they got rid of it to facilitate switching assists on the fly. I know a lot of people complained in previous games because it change your assists you had to exit the race and start all a over.
I usually learn pretty quickly whether or not changing the settings for an assist would work out for me or not. If it was too much, I’d restart and change it back with little time lost.
The Assist bonuses were never impressive enough for me to care about them one way or the other. I won’t miss them. And I never felt the need to buy tokens in any other Forza they’ve shown up in. I doubt this one will be an exception.
What happened to just playing the game? I mean I have earned something like 4-5 million credits playing career and multiplayer. It really isn’t that hard to earn credits. Maybe people should stop wasting all their credits on crates.
I used to make at least 60% more CR per race from assists. My point is: They are removing features from the game and giving them back with the ability to charge us for them.
Before we know it though, that will be a Mod Card, along with our tires and gas gradually depleting over races and having to replenish those with Mod Cards as well.
