Earning Credits vs Earning the Right to Spend Credits

This is about car levelling and, at a deeper level, why I hate it beyond spending time doing it.

In previous versions of FM, I had to earn credits to collect all the cars and then upgrade them. The more cars I wanted to own required more credits. I still had to grind. The difference was that I could spend the credits on anything I could afford. I had more buying power!

To earn credit, I could race in multiplayer, OR I could run in Career mode to get some free cars, and based on my skill level, I had a risk-reward option to earn credits faster based on how difficult I made it for myself. That makes sense. I practice, get better, run with fewer assists, run against faster AI, and I get more credits. I could earn those credits in any manner I chose.

That is the key, I had a choice about how I earned the credits to buy the cars I chose and upgrade them. I didn’t mind if some cars were more expensive. Once I owned the car, I could do what I wanted with it.

Now Forza has decided, nope, you can choose the car, however, now you have no choice about how you upgrade it. If you want to buy a Mazda Miata to race, you can’t use credits from hours spent in other cars based on risk/reward payouts in the settings. Now you MUST spend hours driving the car of your choice in the way Forza has DICTATED how you do it.

Forza took away a choice from me to artificially force me to stay online. THAT is why I’m upset about it.

I’ll stay online if the game is fun. If I think the reward is worth the effort so I can spend credits the way I want not by being forced to earn the right to spend credits on a car I bought!

Yeah, “bUiLt NoT bOuGhT” has always been a senseless catchphrase used as an excuse for the “CaRPG” grind.
Cars in Forza (& elsewhere) always were & still are bought and built.
“Car Points” are just a separate currency for buying upgrades to build with.
CP & CXP did not change anything about building cars - only added a bothersome time-sucking barrier to building every car (in a roster of hundreds).
“CaRPG” = GarBG (GarBaGe)

Maybe they wanted to offer vouchers to skip the levelling, that can be bought with real money. But they couldn’t do that kind of MTX, because it is against international laws or something. And now we still have the horrible grinding mechanic but can’t skip it. The game very much feels like a MMO game like Need for Speed World or other F2P games. Where you have to spend money to make progress fast. Else it takes hundreads and hundreads of hours of real gaming to achieve what you could do in half an hour if you would spend a few hundread bucks on the game.

Agree with this completely.

Have a well balanced economy with plenty of options to gain credits at a reasonable rate, and let us spend it however we want. It’s as simple as that.

Having a list of achievements/stats against specific cars, such as races completed, total wins, podiums etc. is surely much better than giving them a numerical level, which ultimately means nothing other than time spent driving (or afk grinding).

In every other Forza title (and every other racing game since the original Gran Turismo) I’ve had a few cars that are my go-to favourites for each class/discipline/PI level, and I’m sure most others will play in the same way. THAT is a NATURAL affinity for those cars: “I like this because it’s fast/I enjoy how it drives/I’m a fan of this car generally”, whatever your reasoning.

The fact there isn’t even an option to add cars to a “favourites” list speaks volumes.

Keep it simple, stupid.

i`ve stopped playing because credit payouts are stupid low and makes game no fun to do what i want compared to all other Forza games.
18K for a 10 minute race just is not enough, and this is with vip dlc!!

i have stopped playing this game for the same reason. if i knew this existed i would of not bought the game, i asked for my money back but they said i played past 12 hours. well i didnt know after 12 hours ill still be trying to max out the GTR with the same upgrades as forza 4

My advice on this is limit spending level up the car a couple of times you will save credits when upgrading them i currently have 27M credits I’m aiming 30M ish credits then i will buy more cars  you can earn a fair amount of credits in rivals the more laps you do the more credits you will earn you will also gain different amounts of credits depending on the track some tracks pay more than others in Rivals that is what i have noticed in Rivals
