No, I’m not talking about a game on another platform, yes, I’m talking about Forza Motorsport.
From D upwards to P(X), each class should require every racer to hold, UPDATE and honor a driving class license.
Just like when we all started on Forza, we had to qualify to be placed into ranks/safety ratings etc, we should all have to do the same should we wish to race in S class - but with a license. I don’t think just anyone should be allowed to go from C class to P class, simply because they can’t control the car, be competitive and hold track etiquette standards all at the same time. Thus, they need more experience (or a license).
This could be obtained by similar means to qualifying online (separate lobby same vehicle. For example DL, CL, BL, AL etc). Should someone race 3 times and accumulate less than 1 second in penalties over 3 races, they would be awarded a license and thus be allowed to race online (see below regarded license re-take and stricter requirements).
I believe this will reduce collisions online, provide lobbies with a safer, cleaner and more competitive atmosphere and make Featured Multiplayer(FM) a more enjoyable experience for all of us which choose to use it. This is also on the basis that all class lobbies E —> X are available all the time and not in rotation.
Should a player receive a total of 6 second penalties (I know there is an ongoing dispute about how seconds are policed), he/she should have a cooldown out of the lobby.
Should a player receive a total of 12 second penalties, he/she should have a 24 hour ban.
Should a player receive a second 24 hour ban, he/she should have to re-try for the license of such class with stricter requirements - where earlier stated an accumulation of 1 second, the second time the max would be 2 warnings and the third time would be no penalties whatsoever. If someone has had a license revoked three times, they shouldn’t be in that class and then will have to petition to the powers at be.
This will infer two things:
- The player will try to improve their racing in order to not be penalized
Or
- They will be forced to move to another class (such as E - where purchasing a car alone is good enough to race on a circuit and doesn’t require any special licensing, like an amateur trackday).
Nonetheless, it’ll assist in filtering out those who refuse to take FM seriously and let the rest of us enjoy our sessions. It’s extremely painful to go through a practice and qualifying session to only then be forcefully pushed off because someone’s ego got in the way of their driving.
Finally, I know this may seem like such a strict and serious suggestion, but I think that’s what the game needs. If FM is going to provide us with a multiplayer we can enjoy for 3,4 or 5 years the online needs to be correct, policed and competitive. Yes it has to be inclusive, it has to be fun. I’ve suggested a plan that is open to everyone, is forgiving, but is stern and has the tools to protect those of us that drive with passion.
Thank you.
