“they won’t let you pass in the turns” you serious, so just because your pace is better you believe in a race situation you should just be awarded positions ? there job is to defend that position if they can cleanly otherwise its your job to pass cleanly. This is racing.
That’s what divisions were supposed to fix but I’ve never really seen them cycled around. Instead we now have less choice for certain lobbies for no good reason other than “that’s what a rammer uses”.
I’ve been enjoying racing the unfortunately named Dodge Ram and Bowler in C class this last week. Highlights would be winning races in the aforementioned cars and chasing down an old Beetle around Limerock in my AT Land Cruiser going side by side across the finish line.
That really was proper smile on my dial random fun that you couldn’t easily replicate in the real world.
Not happy I cant use these cars in the popular hoppers anymore, and very disappointing since its content I’ve paid for.
It amuses me that they see SUVs and trucks as “disruptive” to the point that they need to make them unavailable in many hoppers, yet gave us so many of them in our DLC packs.
I’d be surprised if 10% of the playerbase gives a damn about SUVs and trucks, their divisions basically never come up for leagues, and you can’t even use them in open hoppers because they are just “griefer tools.” Yeah, add MORE of them to game.
Agreed. To your second point, there is more complaining when they add an SUV in a pack, and you almost never hear anyone asking for them to be added. Most tracks in real life don’t allow SUVs to be driven in an HPDE (high performance driving event) so adding them to the game seems senseless.
Welcome idea, poorly executed. Just checked and I can no longer use my VW Type 2 in the RWD drift lobby. If you’ve seen this thing slide them you know it’s no joke nor out to get you.
Just give us an advanced ghosting system and be done with this nonsense in the hopper lobbies. Give us a prompt for vote-to-ban or even vote-to-ghost.
You’re killing the game.
Edit: Just checked and almost all of my primary drift cars for public hoppers are no longer usable online thanks to this. Way to go Turn10, you’ve officially pissed me off. Only took 7 months of me saying “well maybe this update will make it better”.
There is defending and there is intentionally blocking, like you go to pass them and they jerk their car in front of you dangerously. That is not defending. The issue is the people that block are unaware of the impatient pile of cars behind the person they are blocking that don’t care or know what is going on. Than inevitably the guy getting blocked gets wrecked by those behind him that he shouldn’t even have been near. Sportsmanship is important. It not that easy to pass a truck taking up the whole road driving slowly and you get next to them and than they wreck you most of the time.
that’s poor race craft and that falls down to the driver not the car, you will still get that in the lobbies just they wont be using a Honda odyssey anymore it will just be something else overpowered and understeered.
From the RC rulebook
“• Blocking - A driver may choose to defend his/her racing line so long as it is not considered “Blocking”. “Blocking” is defined as two consecutive line changes to “defend his/her line,” and in doing so, impedes the vehicle that is trying to pass with each of the two consecutive movements. If, in the case of side-to-side contact, one of the two cars leaves the racing surface (involuntarily) then it may still be considered “a racing incident.”
yes that is correct but what does it have to do with the car they are driving ? we are talking about the banned cars from use in online hoppers here. you can block/ram in any car still available in the hoppers, they have just taken away a large portion of DLC that can no longer be used in the hoppers, why add them in as DLC then.
It’s just the majority of people who take those vehicles act badly. Yes I know there are some that race seriously in Suv’s but there are more bad than good. Way easier to block in a giant truck than other types of cars. In the end there will still be wrecking no matter what they do and that is the fault of the game developer having no rules. Remember all the DLC out now was created before they added all the hoppers back. Homologation was a terrible idea outside of leagues and they finally realize it but the DLC was already out. I don’t think they ever intended putting all the class hoppers back it was just all the negative feedback.
I agree, the fact I’m annoyed is because we payed for these car packs and they gave us SUVS and 4wds, I would much rather the thousands of choices they had from the wishlists but they chose the grocery wagons, I hated them and despised that they were added through DLC where they could have put in something with a hint of motorsport history. But because they were there in my garage and I was looking for a challenge I tuned them up and took to the C class lobbies. now they are banned? whats next, everyone has to use auto brake because it would clean the online lobbies up?
If T10 let all the cars in the E-X hoppers people would complain that SUV’s and vans were in hoppers ruining it for everyone. If they ban them from the hoppers people will complain that their mostest favoritest car, the limo, can’t be used. Damned if they do, damned if they don’t.
Before they put the class based hoppers in, 450 of the 700 cars were paperweights, now it’s a hundred. There was no way every car was going to be usable online with the old division hoppers and now with the new hoppers you can use more cars than ever.
I agree you can never make both sides happy but for Turn 10 to do this with the excuse that it will help solve the rammer problem is laughable. Now they just have to use better faster cars.
Finally! Now I can run races in my S class Regera. Only downside is its problems with launching off the start because you either get overtaken by everyone or completely crashed off the track. Then you have to push through the whole field and boy are there terrible drivers out there. Racing line? Never heard of. Racing etiquette? What?
Was recently racing on Catalunya and an M3 was in front of me right before the long straight and once my Regera built up its power I flew up behind him with ~60 km/h overspeed an he just steered in front of me → wreckage. After that he crashed into me in every corner and later insulted me for “crashing him on purpose while he was defending”. Yeah sure…
I wouldn’t be annoyed, I’d be aggressive. If you’re the one in the way and we’re operating under the assumption that the person behind me is going to “take me out” because you’re in the way causing a bottleneck, then logically I should take you out first. Preferably in a manner that will also put off that guy who was planning to take me out.
That’s one way to deal with it. Though most of the time, I can’t seem to justify hitting another person through my own volition. And when you do get hit from the back when you’re stuck behind someone, there’s a pretty good chance they were coming in hot and did not expect the slowdown or to see you braking in weird places so you can’t automatically assume the people behind are volatile.
Most of the time I’d gently tap their bumper on the straightaway once or twice so they’d either choose to move or get nervous and present an opportunity down the line.
Like someone else said, there’s no win-win solution. At one camp, you have these potential hazards being removed meaning that there’ll be less instances like ramming and blockages happening but on the other hand, people who like using them would be getting the short end of the stick.
It is what it is. But for the greater good, I think they were aiming to provide a more coherent experience, though it wasn’t necessary to ban cars that didn’t cause any issues for the most part.
