Drivatars are a bunch of distinguished English gentlemen

I have had random experiences, I have to say. First 2 tiers in career I have been doing in Pro mode and first corner(s) always ended in carnage, with aggression on or off, especially on circuits with a very tight first corner, e.g. Nurburgring GP or Spa. Spa in wet in the Showcase race is just a demolition derby, cars spinning and smashing into each other, total chaos.

I also did a wet race in Brand Hatch in the lowest difficulty, with aggression on, and they just followed eachother in a tidy line (except the leader who finished 15s ahead of me).

Now I’m racing the middle tier on unbeatable, limited aggression, and so far it’s been great. There is some minor bumping and rubbing into the first corner and an odd bonzai dive down the inside (often ending in tears for AI), but nothing out of line. I’ve had some really good drag races down the back straight in Road America, and side-by-sides into the corners.

Next up a litmus test: wet Nurburgring GP …

Yeah, I only play one or two career races per session now because of the severe aggression the drivatars exhibit. I can barely finish a race without rewinding like 20 times and this is with limit aggression turned on. Like another poster said, older racing games had much better AI…challenging, but not violently inept. I miss Project Gotham Racing :frowning:

I play on pro with aggression limited and my drivatars are complete nuts, why is it such a difference between different players, is it because I don’t have many friends who play Forza?

Could be. I’ve found that often the drivatars of friends are the ones who drive the most aggressively to get to the front of the pack.

Very peculiar though that apparently the slower the drivatars are, the more likely they are to crash. o_O

Out of all the races I’ve done I’ve only had a few incidents, usually first corner where I’ve seen a crash by the Drivatars, other than that it’s a few reckless overtakes and last minute lunges you would see in the races anyway, so all in all a massive improvement from Forza 5.

I have definitely experienced some pretty dangerous Drivatar behavior, but I don’t think it’s as prevalent as people on this forum make it seem. Out of hundreds of races I’ve had maybe 3 or 4 truly terrible incidents involving Drivatar behavior.

That said, I have a replay shared that shows a Drivatar pitted my car and then instead of backing off and going around me, he keeps pushing forward until I hit the wall, where I am promptly slammed into by 3 cars behind us! I had to start the race over (obviously. 60+ MPH collision with three other vehicles and a concrete wall).

It’s bad enough that the Drivatar even did the pit maneuver, but then to keep pushing me after I had already been hit is just insane.

I’ve had some very random, but I would say probably rare aggressiveness on the top 2 difficulty levels.

My issue is more of the brake checking on occasion when they’re in front, as opposed to how quick they can often (not always) be when they’re catching up.

It’s kinda nice though, it keeps me alert, it’s not cookie cutter, it’s a challenge to catch the first place guy, and often I push myself into mistakes that I shouldn’t when trying to grind to catch up. You can’t win em all, and I’m glad for that.

I would agree that it’s a lot more comfortable on the higher levels, but you would need to re-balance your tunes to keep up.

Yeah well, except the the first place guy is 2 miles ahead of the pack. The Drivatars are quite nice, but my friend’s is so stupid, it either rams into a wall before a corner, or takes a corner and then spins out (sometimes even before the corner). While my friend is not the best… well, I don’t thinks he is that bad.

As a side note, i race on Pro, never tune any of my cars, also I like 'em stock, no upgrades. I usually manage to get to 3rd and 2nd, if I’m lucky at the starting line then 1st.

LOL, earlier on, I did the SUV race, there was this drivatar in a X5 that was ridiculously fast. I was laughing the entire time… he was blazing around hairpins no brakes, no understeer and blasting out of the corners… once I saw how fast he was, I didn’t even try to compete LOL and I’m not too shabby in the trucks

Since I started playing racing games I’ve also been an extremely aggressive driver. Now playing forza 6 sometimes I find myself having to step up my aggressiveness 100% to even match the drivatar. The races are insane sometimes, like literally I have to be on the brink of crashing non stop to beat some of them. Without replay I’d probably get so angry at the game I would demand a refund. Also it’s pretty annoying that they spin you out and knock you off the track at times.

Totally agreed. I’ve never had any problems with drivatar aggression and I’m of the opinion that the technology is pretty awesome. Only issue I’ve had is the whole “runaway drivatar” phenomenon on occasion but hey, it makes it a bit challenging.

I believe there is a setting that allows you to limit the aggressiveness of the drivatars? My experience has been mixed, in some cases I get some hotshot drivatar that will ram me purposely and try and shove me off the track on the strates, and other times I can get them to move out of the way for me. Doesn’t seem to be too much in between though, tends to be very far to one side depending on the race.
