Drivatar difficulty and behavior discussion

They ram their brakes on near the end of the race, it’s very strange. I saw 3 cars brake ahead of me all at the same time, and then I overtook them.

Thank you for the tune & the tip about the braking line, I went from struggling to get above 6th to winning first time using them.

Avid Forza Player here, never had many issues to play on Pro/Unbeatable in previous games and win.

Horizon 5 in the other hand… I’m trying to clear all the Baja races before doing the other stuff that I like more…and it’s nuts. Lol. I play on Pro and I have a Jeep Trailcat prepared for Baja racing. I’m always being beat up by AI on the Mercedes Benz Tankpool truck, they launch like muscles on a Drag Strip, jump many meters and when they touch the ground don’t lose speed at all ON DIRT, ok. I try to play with low-spec cars so racing is more balanced but again, Renault 4L, D100, against Beetle’s, Anglia’s and that kind of stuff, there is a climb section on this race that any of the cars can manage to do, me included…and then appears a full speed reliant robin that makes the climb with ease when all the other cars are stuck on there.

Again, I appreciate a bit of a challenge sometimes but the rubberbanding and OPism of the AI sometimes ruins the experience.

I remember watching content about the drivatar AI in FH4, and the learning engine part behind it.
Any chance that the AI’s been trained on content creators who had early access prior to other players, kinda ensuring that some of the most competitive players were doing their best against the AI and doing crazy things testing the limits.
Total speculation of course, but if that were the case it would explain why the AI think they need rockets and additional tactics to beat us?

n.b. I don’t hate the AI. I actually find them being a little more ‘human’? It’s the spikes in their physical properties that kills it for me.

I just posted a new discussion about this, but it may have been removed as a ‘duplicate’? The combination of my loss of traction & faster Drivatars (on rails and not driving), makes the weekly Seasonal Championships very frustrating…this needs to be fixed asap (either fix my traction or slow the Drivatars down). Otherwise, the Seasonal’s are dead to me.

Lol Drivatars are still broken in cross country after the update. This AI system has needed a ground up rework for way too long now, what a joke.

The problem with cross country and rally, as I see it… is that the drivatars dont slide and lose speed, all curves are railed, like they were trains, that added to the fact that, they have insane power… make them pretty annoying, no matter how good you do it, they go like rockets. I ended lowering the difficult to highly skilled and even now they sometimes have this behavior… insane power from nowhere to catch you on straights, and no slides on curves.

You can take a perfect curve at the right speed, sliding and drifting, and they will take it at more speed, without any drift and having a rocket launch after leaving the curve. Really unfair.

I always liked the seasonal playlists in FH4, took some effort from my part but it was always good fun.
With the new drivatar behavior it is slowly draining the fun out of doing those.
Road racing is still fun but dirt and cross country is turning into a rewind spam fest

Have you done Goliath ? I arrive at Dunes in 1st with significant margin over bots but starting there, they apply nitro and this race is one big weaving fest, if they get past you you are done. I just go flat-out slalom till the finish line. There is just no defending against it besides blocking the road

You are funny :joy:

My bad…I saw “Mutliplayer?” and immediately thought they were had moved to people ramming. I apologise for my mis-assumption.

However…Multiplayer AI Ramming is quite often cause by player behaviour… as was seemingly introduced in FH4, the AI in the Trial adjust depending on the player behaviour so, the more players hit the AI, the more the AI start to go on a rampage…hence why AI in the Trial are so bad as the players are so bad (Disclaimer: quite often…though of course I am not tarring all players with that brush!)

It should be all about connection. If you start to hit AI it’s probably harder to synchronize with others. Best test is to invite some guy from far land and with some neighbor’s wifi.

I was wondering why one landed on my roof and stayed there for what felt like eternity completely blocking my ability to see forward. Now it all makes sense.

No, people ram you not realising that it is a team game.

I compared real people ramming you in Multiplayer to how the Ai ram you in FH5.

Honestly, telling people to “git gud” does not solve the issue. The AI in FH5 cheats in a way I’d never seen before in a Horizon game.

From artificial speed boosts to large grip bonuses, instant braking, ramming without consequences and even starting before you do, I can say with certainty this is the worst AI Horizon has ever had. It’s worse than NFS games from the 2000s. I don’t think even Darius Flynt in FH1 had this amount of cheating mechanics built into his AI.

Speaking of Trials, I ran a Trial on Wednesday and 2 of the 3 races were winnable (I won the 3rd and could have won the 1st). The 2nd one wasn’t. Why? The leading AI disappeared into the horizon (no pun) and we had no hope of catching up to it.

I just submitted a Support issue on this. I suggest/request those who agree that the Drivatars need adjusting, please also submit a support ticket. There are so many of us posting similar comments about the cheating AI, though not sure Support is aware how it’s ruining the Seasonal Championships.

It wasn’t that different. When you were leading and hit something AI were teleported behind you. It’s still our good old Forza AI.

Still dont understand the problems people are having with the AI in highly skilled. Sure, cross country and some dirt races are a pain and completely avoidable even in that difficulty level. But this is not new, happened as well in FH4.

But everything else??

Seriously guys you are doing something terribly wrong. I keep winning races on highly skilled, like i did in FH4. I didnt notice any change in the AI. You guys are still confused because winning in FH5 is way harder than before, but NOT BECAUSE OF THE AI, but because of the cars sliding waaaaaaaaay too much even when they shouldnt. More than that i bet that the devs didnt even bother to touch the AI at all. Keeping in mind how badly broken is this game, im sure they didnt have any “reasons” to waste time and efforts trying to improve the AI lol.

I still play Horizon 1 on a regular basis and from my point of view, while the AI may have some magical powers (lol, lots of rubber banding), I don’t see the malicious, mean spirited driving, and pure aggression in Horizon 1 that I have seen in 4 and 5.

In 1 I always feel like I have a chance, unless I totally blow it. In 5, if i don’t get to the front quickly, then I rarely have a chance at winning.
