True but usually I’m maxed. I often buy 90 RX7s and pop out twerkstallions to list in the ah cheap, then gift the 90s. Or pop out Hoonigan 911s to list cheap and delete the 95 911.
There’s nothing wrong with continuing on, but I feel it’s relevant to understand the reason people don’t.
Btw I’ve run online drift a few times recently and was in groups of largely rwd drifters. It was pretty fun and I was usually able to complete 2 laps but it seemed like a lot weren’t able to.
1000% agree. It pisses me off what they did with online drifting. The time they give us now is my biggest problem. Then its the non existing custom drifting. Like being able to choose a AWD lobby or a RWD lobby. They better fix it in fh6
Personally after hanging out with alot of competitive drifters. My main gripe would be lack of classes and the extremely rare occurrence of s1 lobbies. I have been beaten by quite a few rwd drifters in an awd car. Thats mainly what I do in fh5 too. Awd does generate more points but not as much as a person may think if your skilled enough.
A class doesnt have as much variety as S1 car wise
The difference between the two drivetrains is significant. Based on equal skills awd can easily be 15 to 20 percent higher or more. A decent awd drifter shouldn’t ever lose to any rwd regardless of the class.
I’ve tended to get more s1 lobbies but I’ve not been able to notice a pattern. It’s funny though to see most of the awd cars drop out when it changes a class.
Speaking of that, awd bumps the pi so it does limit cars in A depending on what tires you prefer. Generally it limits the power that can be added. Rwd isn’t a problem to fit into a class. I also find that rwd can be more competitive in A than s1 which goes back to the point that combined drivetrain lobbies is a problem.
Finishing position is pointless if you don’t know with whom you are competing.
I respectfully disagree with your statements. I am quite certain with the percentages I have given. The server I am in they keep track of scores between Rwd and Awd. As well as “restricted” scores (avoiding the meta). Their scores are documented with many players having anywhere from 150-300 days of gametime. Alot of the time I see the awd vs rwd conversation its ridiculously blown out of proportion. Again I do not disagree with separating the lobbies. It would help clear conversations like this one.
They also document their scores on a day to day basis. Generally only play Forza to drift. Their scores are definitely not 15%-20%. Statistically that is just not correct with thousands upon thousands of hours recording personal bests. That being said I will say awd is easier to drift than rwd, but that doesnt mean with practice and the right tune your under a huge disadvantage. Here is a example of one of their leaderboards. Only real disadvantage disregarding a slight point buff is the timer. Where you would get more time for more laps in awd vs rwd.
-Just grabbed the first one on the list which is approx 676k is the best Rwd score they have on Arch of Mulegé. Compare it to their best awd score which was 714k. So about 5% difference. (These are their leaderboards they make within their Discord). If you would like to see more of their scores. I could see if I can get you an invite… But on average its still between 2-5%. Nowhere near 15-20%.
I used to feel the same way admittedly until I learned that I am just not pushing the car enough/being competitive enough to compete on these people’s level. They still give me all sorts of tips and tricks. Super friendly people too!
This is why your data doesn’t reflect the reality of drift combining drivetrains. Along with the reproducibility of top scores in the meta cars on a day to day basis.
Ive been complaining about the online drifting since day 1. My biggest problem is how short the timer is for each drift match. Get to throw down 2 laps, maybe 3, depending on the track. Its ridiculous.
But the fact that we cant choose which drivetrain events we want to partake in is just insane. Like who at PG thought that both those changes were what everyone wanted. SMH
this is a great post, but looking at the leaderboard you provided, I have to ask: why isn’t there some level of sportsmanship that deters people from using meme cars like the isetta and Willy’s?
honestly, all the discussion you guys are having about nuance and drivetrains, etc, seems undermined by people using cars like this. it’s kind of embarrassing, like a boneshaker in A800 dirt
The meme cars is a good point. Unfortunately his data is based on:
So there’s no documentation of what an average or even above average player could attain let alone a beginner.
As you can see Oliver didn’t even have the courtesy of posting his own experience to prove his point. Simply stating his own awd Isetta/Willys score and then his rwd score within 5% would have gone a long way to making a valid point.
Oh there is. They have a restricted leaderboard as well. Which bans the use of meta vehicles… but if I want to compare the best I can. I compared the best possible choices for both classes. That way it would get as far as possible of a percentage to compare with (approx max value in each) to showcase how exaggerated the gap is.
Yeah which makes me not a good enough source to compare. I do not drift like these people do. Im passionate about it but I do other things than just drift… Yes I get beaten by other players sometimes when im in rwd vs awd… but it comes down to skill not as much as the car like I had always thought. Awd just makes drifting easier as well as gives more time for extra laps possibly due to its acceleration. If you compare two average players one using awd and one using rwd ofc awd would be higher (unless the drifter has a rwd background… but still without learning the track and proper lines no chance). Its a completely different learning curve. Because awd is easier to use as you can just hold the e brake to extend on corners if you dont know the track and rwd is harder to learn the lines as you have to know when to flick in advance to get the maximum angle for the turn. For scores to really be statistically shown you gotta have alot of time in it to compare. Hence why I used CDF’s leaderboards. Plus the leaderboard constantly changes. With thousands of different attempts to help get a middle ground for an average. It doesnt give an extreme advantage if you know the proper lines.
If you would like to learn the lines/view the other leaderboards to compare. To really push your cars to the limit. Feel free to join here (https://www.crazydriftfans.com/) They have worked wonders on helping me improve as both a rwd drifter and awd drifter. My scores have gotten much much higher thanks to their help. As well as a wake up call as I was just like you til I started learning the proper ways to use the tracks to maximize points.
Oh wait hold on I forgot they have a website lemme put that in there instead. Dont wanna make it look like this thread is promoting another server. I just want to show where I got my statistics from.
I’m so confused at what your point is. Everything you’re saying sounds like you are clear that they should be separated. Except you base statistics of the equality on the personal bests of the top 0.001% of players that have thousands of hours in game? I guess that could make sense if that’s all whom you think should be playing the game.
If you think your data is representative and should be considered here, show what it takes for you to accomplish the 5% difference. Or at least show what you can do with reasonable practice. I say this because I don’t see how your data applies to anyone outside of your sample group.
I just realized that it will continuously just go back and forth like it typically does with this conversation. Never meets an end either so there is no reason to comment and go further personally. So its best I just quit while I was ahead lol. I spoke my opinions about this topic on another post anyways. No sense in repeating myself as it will and forever will be a split topic (unless lobbies split again someday… which again I am not against… just the exaggerated advantage in points that bothers me sometimes…). Regardless of whats said. Gotta deal with some college stuff and work stuff anyways.
Also it’s like the same 5 maps. Throw in some community created routes/ maps to change things up. Throw some drift specific maps in the season objectives, and give us the “Did you like this map yes or no?” If it gets a 80% or higher like ratio add it to the drift adventure rotation.
