The problem with Drifting Events in Horizon Open (FH5)

Dear Playground Games…

How hard is it to have filters for AWD , RWD ,S1 class and A class for drifting events in Horizon Open ?:melting_face:

-“I think, we should be able to choose awd or rwd lobby since most people abuse awd + drag tire build are so unfair for rwd drifters.”

-“AWD is powersliding, RWD is real drifting.”

-“As I understand that rwd vs awd build up points very differently… I also agree that separate categories would be super beneficial. Honestly the layout of fh4s drift adventure ideally is what I prefer for this.”

-“I read somewhere on the forum that AWD Drifting in online adventure is overpowered and should be removed from open drifting or have its own category.”

-“Look, no matter what tuning your doing, AWD will
always score higher. And it’s just due to the fact that all four tyres are making you gain points. However, I did notice that getting all four tyres to smoke on a red build does do the same thing.”

-“Need to make it 2 different categories”

-“Nope. It’s one of the reasons I don’t do Open Drifting as much as l’d like to. I don’t like AWD drifting and hate seeing people with sloppy technique just rack up points. I can’t understand why they haven’t split the categories yet.”

^^These are the words of some of long time Forza players , words that most players right now agree with proven by this poll :

Having separate classes for drifting events just like the other modes in Horizon Open should be a no brainer at this point ( If you think otherwise , Id like to hear your reasoning in the comments ) , specially considering that the game is almost a year old now .

its really starting to become a joke

AWD is a joke in Horizon open drift. You have people who spend hours tuning and drifting thier RWD cars then have someone come in with a AWD swaped willys or another light weight car that is AWD swapped and get 200,000-300,000 more points over a RWD set up car, not to mention they reverse at the start to have more speed to start and only do one lap. Going up against people that use AWD lightweight cars is NOT FUN AT ALL.

Agree! I really dislike awd “drifting”, and you cant be competitive rwd:( Makes open drifting unplayable

Abuse AWD drifting? If RWD is real drifting then why are there AWD Duffy cars in real life? Learn what you are talking about. Just because people are mad because they can’t drift (the ones who can drift RWD are getting 950k on one track while I’m completely sideways not straightening hardly at all at good speed, and maxing my angle for score to rack up quicker and holding that drift for a good while, at least I thought and I’m in AWD Supra or Toyota GR22, getting 820k 850k. They’re is no disadvantage to RWD in the game except those who can’t RWD drift and same goes both ways but anyway, to say RWD is real drifting and AWD is not drifting shows how you are not up to speed on your opinions, because they are not facts.

From Google:
While most professional drifters utilize rear-wheel drive cars, there are some drifters who use modified all-wheel drive (AWD) cars, particularly popular examples being Subaru Imprezas and Mitsubishi Evolutions, which can be adapted to drift with modifications that allow for controlled oversteer despite their AWD system; however, drifting an AWD car is generally considered more challenging due to the extra grip

Key points about AWD drifting:

Challenges: AWD cars naturally have more grip, making it harder to initiate and maintain a controlled slide like in a traditional RWD.

Modifications: Drifters often modify AWD cars by adjusting power distribution to favor the rear wheels to achieve better oversteer for drifting.

Popular AWD drift cars: Subaru WRX STI, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution and many more.

Also…
Nobushige Kumakubo is a famous drifter who used an all-wheel drive (AWD) Subaru Impreza during the 2005 D1 Grand Prix season. Kumakubo switched from his S15 Silvia to the Impreza and showed how capable a Subaru could be for drifting.

Team Orange is another group that pioneered the use of AWD chassis for professional drifting.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is an AWD electric car with a dedicated “drift mode” that sends all the power to the rear wheels.

If you are not doing well and looking for a reason to complain then I suggest hitting the mountain drift zone and practicing first. No matter what you did or didn’t do in games before Forza 5 or right now, each game is it’s own, if it needed to be like forza 4 or 3 then keep playing those.

Using a Willys, Autozam, and others is just cheating, RWD or AWD but you can’t place all AWD drifters in the same category. I know for a fact if every AWD drifter is beating you in drifts then you plainly can’t drift at all. I’ve never, NEVER, seen that happen and I drift every day in Forza 5. Sometimes AWD sometimes RWD get beat and win in both. Some cars are just better in AWD some better in RWD. I spend hrs setting up AWD cars so what’s the difference? I lose some, I win some. How it goes. It’s a game for crying out loud, you can choose not to play. I mean if you never win at all, I suggest getting on at a different time or when not so many are on drifting.
