Dolby vision

HGIG is used to help HDR10 do that’s built into DV.

It doesn’t say DV. Doesn’t necessarily mean anything. I don’t see Atmos listed there either but it has it. I’m not sure anyone knows 100%. Perhaps someone from T10 can shed some light.

I know what he wants i had a discussion about this kind of stuff some time ago with him. But his particular tv model had issues in game mode so many people chose to use fmm. But the tv has been patched as of a few months ago and people say game mode is now better, or whatever issues were largely fixed.

He’s really stuck on the performance of hdr, specifically dolby vision. During our original convo and doing some research xbox does have some deficiencies compared to ps5 when it comes to hdr. But conversely it has dv capability where ps5 cant ever have it due to hdmi bandwidth constraints.

Personally i think dolby vision is overrated and when it comes to gaming its purely a marketing ploy. At least some movies are actually mastered with dv where i cant seem to find any info about any specific game that has had the same treatment.

Hgig is in a way a form of dv and also sufferes from the same deficiencies which is, if its not properly utilized by the developer it doesnt really serve a purpose and often looks worse. I personally dont use it because its only effect on my screen is that it makes everything darker than it needs to be. My tv goes well above 1000 nits, so theres no need to limit it to that number.

His new issue with game mode automatically engaging even if the xbox allm toggle is off is puzzling though as it shouldnt happen. It sounds like the tv is automatically doing it which means there should be an option to turn it off there somewhere.

I am so glad there is no DV for PC. I play it with 10 Bit Full RGB. And my good old LG B9 TV is in gamemode. It works fine and there are no issues.
