Dolby tech in general just doesn't work very well on xbox

Decided to try something weird with my setup. I have 2 speaker setup modes. In one I have all my speakers getting signal. In the other only the fronts and 2 of my atmos speakers are getting signal. Both have subs tho. When I switch between the 2 I should notice a great bit of difference. I don’t. FH5 will send the rear speaker signal to the fronts when the rears are nonexistant or turned off. FM doesn’t do this. I also noticed that the DA upmixer doesn’t seem to do much either. Seems to me your sound engine is broken.

Also. There is a major difference when I have the xbox connected to my TV vs receiver. Makes sense, but also not when the TV is in passthrough mode.

Lol, monologue and he’s still making up half of it

Making up what? Findings from my testing on my HT rig? Find something better to do.

Hey, yeah. The passthrough feature is an add-on for media playback applications. In no way can it be related to games :slightly_smiling_face: Of course it only works via HDMI cable, which you probably know.

This topic has gone way into OT territory. A Mod should move it to General Discussion or somewhere else.

Wrong. It makes a very clear difference in games as well. Doesn’t take highly trained ears to hear the difference. Do you have a LG G3 or any TV that has a passthrough option?

No. They should fix this. Xbox console should recognize when the TV is also in passthrough and pass the right kind of audio through to the receiver. Currently when I connect the xbox directly to my TV and xbox is in passthrough the audio is mid range heavy and lack dynamic range as if tuned for a TV speaker. My movies and such streamed via the TV apps sound great so the Xbox should sound no less.

Since connecting the Xbox directly to my receiver it sounds as I’d expect. Xbox in passthrough mode yields much better spatial effects. Like canyon reverbs in FH5 or any other type of reverb or echo. They’re the high quality I’d expect.

Jus got a Dolby Access update. As far as I can tell, BIG improvement in both DV and DA. I haven’t had to power cycle my receiver to get DA to sound right yet and the colors in FM have greatly improved for me. I’m pretty sure this is all fixed now.

Edit: FH5 looks and sounds stellar now. It’s about time.
