Did Turn 10 really realize in with bad situation FM really is?

But it dropped 50k… FM was “solid” until patch was released ~4.2k daily

Over a month. We’re barely two weeks in and Motorsport 2023’s already bled just over half of it’s peak players.

I remember it well,FM7 was a mess too at launch, thankfully FM8 runs good for me so I just want more tracks…cant wait.I’m still in shock that Bathurst is absent from the game…what?

im playing multiplayer and enjoying it very much, thank you

It’s different. FH5 had peak on launch and dropped massive, FM numbers increased and dropped after patch.

And it’s the type of game not everyone is paying 70+ to “drive in circles”.
Thats one of the best sims u can get atm

But here is where FM’s bonus kicks in, GamePass is bringing lots of people simply looking at the game without buying. The new changes made it easier to drive (feels like horizon) so it can win players from other racing games or whatever.
Was doing my mp qualification yesterday and looked at the driverlists, the crown was pretty rare so thats all gamepass people without premium. And it was full, always. Was not fun and i left every race but every event was full. And thats new players unlocking multiplayer.

Give it time and hope dev is fixing things before MS is doing 3 month gamepass for 1€. The playerbase grows over time on this type of game (or never).

But yeah T10/Playground lost the focus what a racing game should be… Is great to see some early access game outperforming AAA titles. And it started with 1 person, without licensed cars, without “ultra4k” “raytracing” “look at that 3d scanned rock in distance”

FM is a complete flop by any measure. Here are the FH4 and FH5 releases compared to FM, aligned to release. FM is the small pink line way down the bottom. (And FH4 released on Steam 2.5 years after it did on Xbox as well.)

? yeah but u can’t compare these 2 types of games. One is open world with lots of features other is “driving in circles” on few tracks

My theory is Turn10 set out with good intentions until someone got a sneak peak at GTA6 and said GG…

…which brings up the question why T10 didn’t make FM more “Horizon-ish”…
They sure have seen the success of FH4 and 5, they know how this and that works in FH, they know that FH will attract a lot of players to FM, and still they attempted to re-invent the wheel with FM instead of taking notes from FH.
That’s a huge FAIL in my book.

What… Motorsport is not Horizon! What do you want Eventlab in Motorsport? Open World?

Did i say “COPY FH?”
No!
I said take notes from FH!
Big difference.

We can also take notes for what people don’t want. People don’t want aimless nothingness. People don’t want broken meta tuning. If they (T10) actually had the full six years they said they had (which I don’t buy for a second, since the engine has been bugged since release and we had 2020-2022 happen. So cut it down to three, and with a lot of staff being split (I do think PGG is partially at fault here), I can see how Forza fell apart

Im not sure what else they would be ‘taking notes’ on that you’re implying other than the things he mentioned.
Its honestly a ridiculous idea. They did take notes about what was keeping players coming back to Horizon, and they implemented them with the weekly content dripfeed.

The rest of the game just isnt fun and doesnt offer much to do outside of the very limited builders cup.

Theres a metric ton of stuff they could have done while also having a similar amount of cutback content.
They could have completely reworked the tuning system. Have adjustable restrictor plates to control AF mixture to change power levels just like real racing divisions do. Brake bias and TC tuning in race, where they already have a prompt system thats similar to others like ACC and PC2 to change those on the fly.
Having racedays with small course challenges before the qualifying and main race start. Have some sort of trackside gameplay where you can move around similar to TC2, go up to like a press booth and have fans there. Have teams and sponsorship signing races. They seemed to have gone out of their way to make up fake sponsorship names for the race suits. But thats all they’re used for.

Theres tons of stuff they Could have done. But instead they took notes from Horizon, When they should have been looking anywhere else.
They spent 5 years doing nothing to add to the Motorsport experience. Its expected updates to systems like visuals and driving physics. And lacking promised updates to stuff like the AI. And a completely gutted core player experience.

And people crying gamepass ambiguity. Id argue gamepass is more likely to skew in favor of a bigger offset for Horizon still. As its inherently the casual audience. I think its very likely a much larger ratio of sales were on steam for Motorsport than for Horizon vs on Xbox, as it likely overlaps heavily with the existing sim and track racing community already on steam. So the Steam:xbox ratio for Motorsport should be favorable to the Horizon ratio.

Two weeks since release, 2900+ Steam-reviews, Mostly negative
Doesn’t scream great success, does it…?

Of course you can compare these games. And FM wouldn’t need to be just driving around in circles, that’s just due to T10’s laziness. Earlier FMs had Drifting, Drag Racing, more diverse career for solo players …

And still no reason to compare Horizon with Motorsport.
Horizon reaches more players. There is lots of players just cruising around in the game looking at every traffic sign

Hillclimbing is rather fun too.

But there could be road stages from A to B, but not sure what to call it if rally or something else.

So exiting loctions does it for me, so do rally all the way right now. Got a wheel just a year ago so a lot to discover in the games I have.

But curious about FM23 physics so when interesting locations and my wheel is confirmed supported I will get that too.
