Did the devs actually play the game?

Genuine question: Did the game developers actually play a live version of the game before releasing it?
With so many bugs, known and unknown, did they actually play the game before releasing it?
The game has been out for 12 days now if you had the premium edition with early access. Yet the game has so many big issues that affect game play and enjoyment, and even a lot more smaller issues that have less of an impact but are still annoying. If this game was indeed play tested, it is impossible the devs didn’t pick up on this. It is downright a shameful embarrassment for a Triple A game studio that had a game in development for literal years to release it in such a poor state. And don’t get me started on all the false promises. “Built from the ground up” is a total lie. “Machine learning enhanced AI” is a complete lie. And the graphics and graphical fidelity are appalling and look NOTHING like what we saw in the trailers. There is no sense of photo-realism at all, except for the cut scene cinematics. The environments look like a Playstation 2 game from 2005. On Xbox Series X, you can have visual mode; 30fps, 4K, and Ray-Tracing. You can have RT Performance mode, which is 1080P/1440P variable with Ray Tracing and 60fps, or you can have performance mode which is 4K + 60fps. It is a game for Xbox Series S|X and PC. Aimed at Next Gen. It should have 4K, 60FPS, and Ray-Tracing, in the complete package. If other games can do it, why can’t T10 do it? The colours on the cars look flat, dull, and doesn’t even look as good or realistic as in Forza Horizon 5. Hell, even Forza Horizon 4 looked better. And the HDR, on my LG C2 Oled at least, is an abomination.

How could the game developers have played this game, looked at all the promises they made, release it, and think “Yeah, that will do”. My thoughts are that this game has never been play tested by the developers. Either that, or Turn10 just really does not care about their game, as long as people pay money.

That said, I do enjoy playing the game. I like it. But I hope we can all agree that the game is currently just a dumpster fire of broken promises, poor management, poor play testing, and poorly implemented game mechanics.

No, they dont play the game. Every Developer codes just parts of the game so they never need to test the full product. The testings is done by QA Team which is sadly mostly the community

That explains a lot

Wow, is this really true?

Why am I investing in the $100 premium version then? To beta test it?!

it is not literally true, but it is the case that a majority of triple-a games released today are released with countless bugs and in a largely unfinished state. it’s a big part of why i’ve mostly moved to indie games and nintendo games. everything i’ve played the last few years from a big publisher other than nintendo is basically exactly like forza as far as bugs and unfinished, bad or poorly-implemented ideas.

Man… the Sega and SNES era were some of my best gaming years!! :+1:

Hopefully, FM will see QOL improvements and more refinements. I don;t mind if the content comes slow, but the visual shortcomings, mixed bag of car audio, and other issues should be addressed sooner rather than later.

i mean, i feel a lot better about this game than i did about 7. 7 felt close to unsalvageable to me, this game at least has some really good ideas. the multiplayer structure is the best it has ever been by a massive amount and the driving physics are outstanding. if they clean up the bugs and expand single player to not be absurdly short and limited they’d have the best game in the series since 4.

but it’s really tiring seeing publishers like microsoft shove buggy, unfinished games like this out the door over and over. even if this game realizes its potential with fixes and updates, it just should not have come out as it did. i get that making games is hard and that they are more expensive time-intensive to make than ever, but come on man it’s freaking microsoft, they have the resources to solve these problems ahead of time.

Hahahaha you have got to be kidding right? Did you even see them racing when showing gameplay? they couldn’t even meet an apex  Disgustingly dire game compared to previous titles

I saw some of them on yt. Driving in chase cam !
There’s no love for cockpit drivers in this game.
The arrows suck big time . Why no car radar like all the other sims out there ?
Ahh well, i already deleted that game from my system. Back to Horizon5 which looks years better than this.

the very clear and obvious answer to this question is NO!!

it is also obviously clear that they didn’t listen to any of the top talent that had early versions of the game and submitted their reviews.

i think the servers are whats causing most of the bugs with this game, since a lot of it is online only and i dont think they properly stress tested their servers so now they are playing damage control. there are a few things i think they outright deceived us about (like the AI), and I think they thought the whole RPG level thing was a good idea for some of the community, but obviously most don’t think so.

at least they tried something no one else has done, they just didnt pull it off in a way that was fun for most.

I mean, you could say the same thing about OceanGate.

Moral of the story: just because you think you can doesn’t mean you actually can…or should.

I feel certain that the company was well aware of the game’s condition long before retail launch, but the market decided long ago that games do not need to be ready to play to be ready to sell.

I’m no Developer but as far as I Know they have many options available while making a Game Bug Testing Error Testing Gameplay Testing programming sound Design art & Animation

that’s a Great Reply! & Well said

I wish I had done the same, mate. This is the only FM game I have ever preordered, paid up the full $100 for a half done game that doesn’t even look like the reveal footage, not to mention the plethora of bugs and shortcomings.

Well, lesson learnt. No more preordering T10’s products.

That’s one scenario, another possibility is that the devs dont like racing genre at all, they dont like playing any racing games and don’t watch real world motorsports and are bored of all of it.

I really hate this model. I’ve always felt the Mega Drive/SNES era right up until the PS2/Xbox and PS3/X360 era were the absolute best in gaming history.

@bhabanism I’m starting to think that is the case, otherwise the game would be really ironed out and polished at release.

I think the game should have been in development for at least another 1-2 years. I would have been happy with updates and additional content to FM7 and FH5.

Just by driving on the tracks and experiencing the core gameplay, you can tell that the physics, track layouts, environments, scale, etc. was redone.

With the right level of polish, this can be such a brilliant racing game in all areas.

Sadly, it didn’t get enough time and quality testing before rollout.

I would still argue - how much time is enough? You’d think 6 years would be enough to properly stress test and quality test a product.

That’s not how software development works anymore. Today the devs give the estimates and timelines to management not the otherway.
