Hi guys. I’ve just completed my first tuning project on FM6.
It’s a Mclaren P1 tuned for the current League in R-Class. I tuned it on Catalunya and Hockenheim because I wanted to be comfortable on a good variation of corner shapes.
It’s meant to be driven without assists and manual + clutch in order for optimal lap times. I’ve worked hard on low speed understeer reduction, braking stability, and as I am very heavy on the accelerator when exiting the bends I’ve tuned second gear for optimal grip under hard acceleration.
My racing is awful and I’m an undisciplined driver, I’m quite comfortable in this car now and I think a decent drive could really set some good times in it.
Tips, to mirror the style I used when tuning.
Left foot braking on wide bends
Heavy on the power on exits
Get on the brake early (very slow into corners)
Get a wide entry into those hairpins.
I just want to reassure myself that it’s my driving that sucks and not my tuning.
I just had four or five races in league with it. 2 Laps of nordschlefe was almost physically painful. Lol.
That car is very very hard work.
It was fine on Nurburgring gp track, and catalunya but on the alps the engine braking is like pulling up the handbrake and any more than half throttle breaks the back end loose. I had a couple of good races but I’ve got to say I’m looking forward to Sunday so I will never have to use this car again!
Alps festival reverse: 1.40.106s #934 in the world, #106 division but #1 McLaren p1 on the board.
The main fundamental problem with your tune is the tyre pressure. Try 27/27. Also raise the deccel on diff to around 30%. Brake pressure try 150% press and 49% balance.
If your cars screaming under cornering it’s the tyres not working and I think your tyre pressure is causing this. I checked the telemetry and I was running 38 psi. Which is too high, considering I wasn’t pushing it too hard. You want around 32 psi when it’s warmed up.
I think with a few adjustments I could knock a good second off the time I got with it
The car doesn’t need tcs btw. The traction is excellent. Tcs is only masking and making easier the lack of control in the corner due to the tyres not working. Mostly oversteer on entry and mid corner then understeer on exit. It’s not subtle either it’s massive.
