Current problems with open racing

Open racing is fun but could use some work. Here’s a list of the things I currently think need addressing. Some of these kind of tie into each other.

  1. Load times are to long and in fact, longer then some races. Up to 5 minutes of downtime sometimes between 2-3 minute races just doesn’t make sense.

  2. Races are to short and circuits do not have enough laps. 5 laps would be a good number giving time to actually have a good battle. Like stated above, we now spend as much or more time waiting for races to load as we actually do racing.

  3. Championships being reduced to 3 events is not enough events. 5 was fine as it meant you still have a good number of races in that class if you jumped in the lobby after the first race and you also got to drive the same vehicle longer.

  4. No way to actually select what you want or prefer to race. Why do I have to server hop to find something I want to race at that moment? Why is there no voting system or filter system? Sometimes I don’t want to do offroad and I never want to do S2 because it’s just a mess with the speed, tire smoke, and lack of driver skill. Having some sort of voting or filter function is definitely needed.

  5. Tire smoke is way to strong making S1 class hard to see in and S2 class a nightmare. Tires simply do not give off this much smoke in racing.

  6. No C or D class open racing. C and D class can be a lot of fun but we have no opportunity to race these in open.

  7. Bone Shaker is sucking the fun out of A class. This car needs a nerf or an online ban as it dominates A class and it’s leaderboards. Put this thing in S1 where it belongs.

  8. This one might only be a me issue as I haven’t heard much talk about it. After completing a street race championship, the next championship no matter what it is is stuck being at night and cars do not have headlights on. It makes it near impossible to see since it’s super dark and there are no headlights on. This has happened on numerous occasions now forcing me to leave the lobby as I can’t see a thing. This bug needs fixing.

  9. This is more of a general bug but rain drops staying on screen even when it’s not raining.

Agree with everything but the boneshaker. I also don’t have the long load times anymore

I already submitted a ticket for the street race no headlight and night time issue.

You think the BS is not OP in it’s current state?

When I say long load times, I mean when it says fast travelling other players. You don’t get this anymore?

I have submitted a ticket too for the night time and no headlight bugs.

Yes, we all have it to a some extend.
What people fail to understand is that its not the game taking that long on purpose, its the connection and sync between all players that its causing it.
If someone is using a crappy connection, until the sync is done, you will have to wait like everyone else.

So easy to set reasonable timeouts…

Group players with similar ping. Just set a time / latency limit. After that - go without that player holding up everyone else.

Players with latency larger than 250ms to a certain region → remove from actual lobby. Move to other region / group of players with bad latency and let them wait.
If friends play together with one having bad latency - let them wait in slow latency lobby or play alone.

A proper LOBBY BROWSER would solve all this as WELL! As you could DISPLAY the actual latency next to each player (yes in NUMBERS - not just good or bad) add colors (green yellow red for the illiterates between us), so I would not join a lobby with a guy from Kamschatka Hut and 2000ms red latency connection.

1. Maybe this kind of choice (which most game in the 1990´s had already) - is too difficult to implement.
2. OR: maybe it just does not fit into the sleak casual game intent: Quick sales, rubbish quality approach: the shorther they play, the less they see how much bugs we have and we save money fixing it.
3. OR: players have no brain, let us not confuse them whith choice = Game Design policy. a 3 year old must be able to play it in order to make it fun for EVERYONE. But: Even a 3 year old can see RED color. At least they could learn that red color is BAD..

It is a mistake to focus everything on look and assume maximum idiocy of players. Start making things FUNCTIONAL and meaningful. (What meaning have those 1000 chat phrases you can “win” that no one cares to use even). A simple chat (like 1990 games - is 1000 times better ) - yes there are 3 year old who cannot type. Or console players without a Keyboard. So what? Make it cr4p for everyone else too to make 3 year olds not feel excluded?

I wonder if that’s what happened to me yesterday, theses pics are from Dirt Racing (I can’t remember what race I had before it), but in Bumper view which I normally use it was undriveable but switching to cockpit view and I could see.

The lighting in FH5 is awful whatever happening here.

Bumper (No 50p in the meter)

Cockpit (Found some change)

Same has happened to me before.

I don't know if this is on the known issues list or not.

I would not want 5 races x 5 laps.

3x5 or 5x3

Just curious as to why? Do you like to change cars more often or something?

I do not remember last time when a boneshaker was faster than me (I do not use Boneshaker)
It was same in FH4. Boneshaker used by many for some time. Then players found better cars / setups which did beat the boneshaker. I found it already in FH5.

Biggest Issues in Open Racing:

  1. No choice of type of races - missing Lobby browser where ppl can decide when and what to play (class A/S1/S2 and type Dirt / Offroad / Road)

  2. 3 rounds for a champinship sux big time. (Way too short, you wait 3 minutes to be able to join then mostly 2nd or 3 round of a “championship”) - boring, useless. Make it 5 again!!
You get bumped once by and idiot and have hard time to win. Over 5 races better avages skill and less “luck” only. If you join only 2nd round, you can still win in 5 races the whole championship.
If someone has not 15 Minutes time to play 5 races, but only 10 for 3 rounds - then who cares? All ADHS kids today? Developers fear that after 5 Minutes they change game to battlefield? Today yes… cuz how it is right now with 3 rounds sux.

  3. Dirt racing sux - most tracks have too much % tarmac in it. I want a PURE Dirt race NO Tarmac at ALL. Car fittet for dirt will not run well on tarmac. Disrupts the fun of drifting etc. Just annoying.

  4. Missing chat functionality. Who cars about 1000 different “paroles” you have to preselect and set fix 4-6 in order to broadcast this meaningless gibberish per push of a button.

Yes, this is the darkness I’m talking about. It only happens for me after completing a street race championship. Every race after it will be dark unless I quit to the main map. I haven’t tried switching views though so I’ll have to give that a go next time.

Your lights are on but nothing is illuminated, I had that too. The game just seems to forget to light the track up.

I’m definitely watching what happens after the next street event I’m in, I did not realise that’s a issue.

My problems with it are also the night races, and no headlight illumination. I can’t see s**t. lol

Also, the penalty for running into the wall is way too sensitive. It’s racing, and with 12 cars on a small 2 lane track, it’s inevitable that you’re going to hit the wall at least a little at some point. It’s also ridiculous when I get penalized, just because some idiot that doesn’t know how to drive, and just goes around taking 90 degree corners at full speed running in to everyone, slams me into the wall.

Also the “Missed checkpoint” thing seems to be a little off as well. I clearly hit the flag with the ass end corner of my car, but it still says I missed it and sent back. Again, that many cars on small 1-2 lane tracks makes it inevitable that you can’t always hit directly in the middle of the flag. Especially when trying to avoid hitting other cars, or getting slammed in the back while I’m braking, and getting shot 20feet in either direction.

They should also do something to penalize players that just slam into you because they have a crap car, and you’re faster than them. If I’m passing someone on a straight, and they side slam me, something should be done about that, but as of right now, it usually works and they get an award for being a subpar racer with sub-par cars.

SpyderS2K it’s important to state facts when making bold requests such as banning the boneshaker because it’s too op and ruining a-class. Yes the boneshaker is currently the best car for a-class street and road, and is also competitive on a-class mixed surfaces aswell as a few surfaces in s1 class. However that does not mean there aren’t other competitive and viable options. Because trust me there are plenty.

If the boneshaker was as op as you make it out to be then it would be dominating the rival leaderboards which it’s not. This is a fact. Go have a look yourself. Similarly if the boneshaker was so op then surely anyone driving it would beat anyone not driving it, regardless of skill level right? Nope this is not the case as we can all see in online races.

Your only “facts” to date have been around your own testing where you have timed how fast you drive in the boneshaker vs another car. Your testing only proves that you personally can drive better in the boneshaker on certain tracks then the other cars you tested with. That’s all.

Now I assume you’re fairly new to Forza or not a competitive driver. This is based on the fact that I can’t see you on any of the top rival boards. Which surprises me since you seem to think you know what cars are op and what cars should be banned.

Here’s some more facts. The Scout International is currently the best car in b-class mixed and cc. Should it be banned? No. Why? Because there are many other viable options just like in a class. The Hoonigan RS200 is the best car in S2 mixed and very competitive in cc. Should it be banned? The point here is there will always be a best car in each class, but there will always be other competitive viable options.

The reality you need to accept is that for these reasons the boneshaker won’t be banned, at least not any time soon as there is no reason to do so. If you even bothered to race a-class online instead of whining like a baby on these forums then you would see that very few players are even using the boneshaker. No one cares for it any more.

Now at this point I could do a mic drop but I won’t because I rather just throw the virtual mic at you instead. Maybe that will knock some sense into you. Stop whining and enjoy the game. Don’t enjoy it then play something else.

I have a number of top 100 or top 150 times on the leaderboards… Most of them are in S1 and B class as I don’t use the BS in A class and it does take up the majority of A class leaderboard times.

I’m not the only one who has done this testing and this is the best way to test a vehicle as the only changing variable is the vehicle. I now have over 1000 laps in rivals testing vehicles so I have put in the work testing.

While you are right that there are other cars in other classes that could be considered OP, they don’t compare to the BS as those other cars do have weaknesses while the BS does not. This is why the BS is used in all types of races and the fact that it takes almost no skill to drive fast.

As for not seeing the BS online, maybe I do a lot more races then you because I see 3-5 in almost every A class lobby I join. I can beat most of then because I am more consistent then them, but if there is a consistent BS driver behind the wheel, forget it.

PS. I’ve been playing Forza since 2009 so I wouldn’t say I’m new but I will admit I haven’t played every single Forza title since then.

Rivals is a different meta to online racing in some aspects.
