Horizon Open Needs a Lot of Love

Horizon Open is an absolute embarrassment, with no signs of ever getting fixed. I’ll start this by saying if you’re going to trash talk me and tell me how bad of a driver I am… you can just move on to the next thread… I already know I’m not the greatest driver… and that’s not the point of this post. The point is to point out that this section of the game (much like it did in FH4) has serious problems that need addressed.

First and foremost… why is this the only portion of the game that has a “slow down applied”??? Not the eliminator, of the trial… just Horizon Open… dumbest thing I’ve ever heard of. And what makes it even worse… is when I’m pushed into the wall by crap (and the trolls) drivers, and who did the slow down apply to?? That’s right… me… Dumbest thing I’ve ever seen in a racing game.

Next… and even more frustrating, is the weekly challenge (mainly the current from spring of season 7) when you need to win an Open event in a ford. Now again, for those that didn’t read this in the first paragraph, this isn’t here for the trolls, so move on. But… this is mostly impossible… between not knowing what type of Open “championship” you’re going to get, to not knowing how many people you’re going to compete against, you’re almost always set up for failure. Add to that the frustration of signing up for a Open championship, only to get loaded in right at the last minute and missing out on the race. Now I have to sit here and wait for the race to be over (sometimes almost 5 minutes) before being loaded into the next one, and that’s if it wasn’t the last race in the championship. Nothing like wasting 3-4 hours over the last 2 days trying to get the last weekly challenge I need to complete the season, only to be pushed into walls (pushing my from 1st to last), or not getting a race at all.

All that being said… I’m all for a challenge (never been one to have things handed to them or get a participation trophy), City Escape Trailblazer I’m looking at you. But this particular challenge is just stupid, and impossible, and with the issues in Horizon Open, there’s absolutely no way for a casual player like myself who actually enjoys this game (even with it’s faults and bugs) to make a challenge like that happen. Thanks Forza… annnnnd… enter the trolls…

You’ve been able to search for the race type + class of your choice in Open since the start of the last series.

By completing season do you mean accumlating enough points to unlock both seasonal cars or do you mean completing all challenges to claim a mental victory? If the former then usually you can skip 2 or 3 challenges and still accumulate enough points to unlock all cars.

As for ramming, yes this is a problem and is pretty unforgiving for less experienced players. I would suggest maybe playing rivals for now and skilling up learning tracks and testing tunes before trying online racing again. This doesn’t fix the issue of ramming but might help you in particular.

If you are to 100% complete a game, I’d expect there to be some incredibly tough things to complete. Similarly, if someone wants to 100% a week in FH5 (for no other reason other than because they’d like to do so), I’d expect there to be 1-2 challenging activities.

For the Ford task, it’s only worth 2 points. People can help give suggestions of good events to try or good tunes to use to try and assist you with completing it (noting that custom adventure allows you to choose both class and surface type) but ultimately it’s only worth doing if you enjoy it.

It will make not one bit of difference whether or not you complete it. You can either see it as an opportunity to get better at online racing or not bother with it at all.

Ford has so many cars that can compete to win races too. Of all the brands they could pick, that was one of the kinder choices in my opinion.

That makes me  that they should have choosen hot wheels instead for the :joy:. Maybe also restrict players to a-class only for the :leg: er.

Yeah, I suspect that they thought it through to that extent at least. You can basically choose Ford options which are top tier in every category but S2 I’d have thought. Had it been Mazda or something we’d have all been scrambling around trying to find something reasonable to drive :joy:.

I tuned and tried with many cars until I got it. Lost count with the attempts for this challenge. I finally got it in the end.

Yeah, many Ford cars can compete. I got many tunes on A800 too. Pick a poison.

Now you just need some luck on getting clean players.

I think the Ford challenge is brilliant. I want one or two or even three challenges where the risk is big that I won’t seal the deal. That’s very engaging for me.

I got to the top of the table with a consistent run of 2nd places finishes in a ford mustang but no win. Arrgh! I’ll have to try again so. The chance is fair that I won’t be able to get this. But that’s just life from time to time.

There should be no slow downs. Just walls with physical ruts in them to destabilise any car that tries to wall ride. The tunnel has this and all barriers/walls should have them too. I agree with that objection.

This is a fix for wallriding since FH4. But it is a bad fix it create other problem.

Before FH4 the wall dont have friction. But in older FH if you crash the wall you lost clean driving points= you lose in final result.
FH4 removed xp racing then 3-4day after launch people found wallriding is faster than normal racing.
then we got a lobby filled with 10/12 wallrider in a racing game and no one is actually playing the driving physic

FH5 is a re-skin FH4 so they keep that
you can still see people faster by wallriding in some PVE trial
