thank you for bringing us this great franchise to enjoy for yeaes. but recently, aside from bugs, i often find myself fristrated to do the playlist quests. the 100 miles’ drive in that old bently, the photo in guanajuato during a blink of the night and this week’s spoilt for choice challenge. do you play your own game? do you have any idea what kind of people win horizon open solo? they are those spent most of their playing time doing exclusively those games. and you force the general player base to compete with them!
i tried the drift, and came out 3rd and 4th in most games, with occassional 2nd. do you know who was the 1st? me neither, but it was the same person! 3 or 4 series in a row and he wouldn’t quit to give others a chance to finish the stupid quest.
i tried the playground games, 5 or 6 times. a total of 3 or 4 hours was spent to no avail. and i won, seasonal and normal open. but neither registered as winning ANY open race.
so from the buttom of my heart, thank you for bringing us this great franchise to enjoy for years and i genuinely wonder, what makes you hate us players so much?
In short, they need engagement numbers for shareholders and publishers.
People are going to play modes they hate (for example pgg sessions) so they can get exclusive cars because they probably can’t get them any other way. They get player numbers but in a long run, it’ll only hurt the franchise. I bought FH3 and FH4. I was a bit reluctant about buying FH5 but I know I’m definitely skipping FH6, because they’re treating us more an more like mobile players
It won’t hurt the franchise one little bit…sure, they will lose a lot of loyal players but then, as FH5 has shown, there will be more new players coming in than existing players leaving. If they had any concern about the franchise and their reputation, they would have gone a different direction with this game.
I wasn’t around when FH4 was released but, judging by what I have read, a large percentage of people would have been saying they won’t buy FH5 due to it’s issues, yet here we are with 18 Million people having at least turned the game on. Playground knows their audience and it isn’t the loyal players…it’s the players that are happy doing busywork instead of racing…wouldn’t be surprised if all racing was removed from the next game
A lot? You mean 4-5%? And where will they go? There is nowhere to go. GT7? Solar Crown? I can’t see them being a substitute to Horizon. Will see. But imagine if they choose a favorite location for FH6. It will be such a shame all those players left and now we have Japan as location…
As always too much drama. For what? One player found a challenge in an easy mode game. End of the world.
The poster I quoted was talking about the long run…sure, there isn’t really anywhere else at the moment but, in a couple of years time, there could be other games to rival it or maybe the players simply go play a different genre instead. As to a lot, I have no idea on numbers…a lot could be only 0.01% of players which would still be 18,000…sure, tiny in overall terms of players but is still “a lot” in my mind
4-5%? I would LOVE to see your proof of that number.
The game died out in less than 2 months post launch. Every “loyal” player I could think of went back to FH4 and very happy there, myself included. FH5 is all around terrible compared to FH4 it’s embarassing to witness such a thing.
But hey, according to fanboys, this game is the “best horizon ever” and most sold with the highest playerbase right? RIGHT? That seems a little strange when you see literally nobody on the maps, no community engagement in the forums, no news, no streams etc etc. But that must mean the game is at its best and best in the series because it wouldn’t work otherwise. What would the fanboys do if that wasn’t the case?
How can anyone prove things that will happen in the future? Does this make you right? My 4-5% came from that poll from a month ago.
Your “a lot of loyal fans” on the other hand is just some made up thing to sound more dramatic.
This forum is a joke. That is the only reason why people avoid it. Who want to engage in any conversation when the other part has nothing new to say? Or you think anyone enjoy reading constant complaining? You can’t have a discussion here without people calling you names. You will either be labelled as a fanboy or worst if you express even the slightest positive thing here.
Keep thinking that you are the only one in the right. That is a solid proof of your maturity.
Your dead game had 60000 new players in the last 24h and will soon get the new series update.
And tell me honestly… What are the odds of FH6 to happen? Best launch in XBox history, 92 Metacritic with 8,6 user score… Little to none.
Halo Infinite also had the “best launch in the history of Halo” with 20 million players, but even the most amicable fans agree the game lost so many players it’s time for 343i to react. It had a great opportunity to cement itself as the top shooter, because Vanguard’s sales are on the decline and BF2042 was a major flop. But it didn’t.
FH5 went through similar situation with little content for holidays. The only reason Playground does not react is because, as you mentioned, there are no major competitors. Test Drive will not be one IMO, but NFS could become one again if EA is smart and uses EGO engine from Codemasters.
I put little emphasis on player count when the game is available on Game Pass. Recent NPD report shows FH5 was outsold in America by Spider-Man Miles Morales in December, which is a 1 year old game available only on PlayStaton consoles. It took #16 on the list whereas Halo was #2 and Miles was #7. Majority of FH5 players are Game Pass folks who only continue playing if they renew. This is important because, unlike Halo (which isn’t even reliant on Game Pass), FH5 has no monetization whatsoever outside of car packs and expansions.
Playground also benefits form the fact reviewers go easy on racing games because, frankly, they don’t matter. It says a lot that FH5 outscores most if not all of the games nominated for GOTY (and even most from other years), yet didn’t get a nomination itself.
To me it speaks volumes that a Game Pass game with a very easy and short campaign has a low 10% completion rate (reaching HoF) which is comparable to single player games with long campaigns (easier to lose interest).
For me it doesn’t matter wich engine they use > it is EA so never ever NFS
One of the best features!!! I hate this microtransactions crap. Think there was also no need to buy the whole pack, single car from pack was 1€ or whatever. Ok in FH4 i’ve paid extra for the HotWheels Legends DLC at the end but who cares… TC2 you own best version and they flood u with stuff to buy. F1 same thing and all the sims with their prices. In Automobilista2 for ex 2 year season pass costs same as FH5 premium
If one simple words triggers you this much and makes you hot and bothered about it, you need to either accept that’s exactly what you are or close your computer and go outside.
This old tired argument of “omgosh, 60000 new players and 4 billion player peak in steam charts, best launch IGN 10/10 zomg” makes me chuckle everytime. If FH5 is so successful, where are the happy players? Where is the community engagement, news, contests etc? Suddenly disappeared after FH4, it’s sus.
My guess is that you NEVER even got into previous Forza Horizon games properly to draw any kind of accurate conclusion on FH5. FH4 is easily 1-2 classes above FH5 and it shows. Almost everyone who have praised FH5 have one thing in common; badmouthing previous Forza games. Turns out most them never even set foot out of the tutorial race and think their opinion is credible. Insane amount of insecurity for no reason. It’s the same game from the same company. I still remember a forum post where someone said “I uninstalled FH4 in June as soon as I heard the FH5 announcement” lmao. Honestly, if you are that type of finicky player, you have no business talking about games, period. When an insecure fanboy with zero credibility joins a discussion where real players share their concerns, all that does is derail and troll the threads so the discussion is ruined. That’s exactly what’s been happening here for the past few months. People like turtle are free to troll “game is perfect, 11/10” about 10 times in a thread etc.
I hope those “record new players, best online reviews” keeps you happy and keeps you oblivious to the fact that almost every true Forza gamer is back to FH4 and a lot happier there. You should stay where you are so you can hear your own voice echoing through the empty Mexico map while we enjoy actual quality gameplay, better map, better music in an alive UK map.
Forza has nothing to worry about until something better is released. If there is another open world car racing game that has the depth in terms of cars and physics that Forza has then please let me know and I’ll play that instead. Until then…
I think that the number of players is dropping… I don’t know what percent. But you also have to consider that the number of players could have risen if FH5 was implemented better, so you have a percentage that is hit twice.
I’m new here and it’s my frustration with FH5 that has driven me to join the discussion generally. In many ways the game is driving me crazy since I’m more into building and racing custom routes than online racing (the Trial is cold sweats for me, everytime) or just mingling, but the route creator is buggy as hell and the removal of the test option prior to finalising the route is mindbogglingly… let’s be kind and say “shortsighted”. So, I’m here as much playing, at least until those are fixed.
And sometimes I do wonder if Horizon isn’t now managed by people who don’t play car games, and maybe have a slightly vindictive/combative streak towards the player base. There, I said it. Things like the Nissan 240SX Forzathon that drew attention to the missing RB kits, or the “Super Sport” challenge that reminded players “SS” had been removed from certain cars. There’ve been others, but those spring to mind as strangely trolling choices for weeklies. Optics are important.
Of course, it could be that PG are just overwhelmed with both the expectations of Microsoft and, you know, the world over the last couple of years. I’m not seeking to make excuses, I think the state of the game as released is pretty shameful, but constantly bashing them with the failure is maybe counterproductive. That might explain the lack of public engagement recently. I mean, I’m afraid to post this comment… I can’t imagine the pressure they’re under to deliver, and then to face an angry mob afterwards. Scary. And disheartening.
Anyway, I consider myself to be fairly entrenched in past Horizon titles, and although I invested a lot in FH4, the new driving mechanics alone are enough to keep me from abandoning FH5. I’m inclined to think PG are struggling to find the right mix of “give them cool stuff to do” vs “give them anything to do”, but I believe that comes from a desire to provide entertainment as much as capture players. They’re not mutually exclusive.
Most weeks I breeze through the challenges grateful for the activity, but there are times I desperately wish the game didn’t make me grind my teeth through the, well, grinding of some tasks. Nonetheless, I won’t be giving up on FH5 until I’m convinced PG has.
The ‘Spoilt for Choice’ Challenge also works for the Weekly Playground Games (capture the flag, survival, et cetera). If you get on a team that wins there, the challenge will be yours
