Online races are way too boring and swarmed by most op cars for each class. Its way too annoying to race against dudes with best cars possible. Its not fun and so sweaty race. Of course racing is much more clean than forza horizon 4 (my opinion based on experience) but racing is less fun.
players will always pick meta cars and thereās nothing you can do about it. custom lobbies could solve this though - but we will never see them ;(
Theres something can be done (my opinion) there can be a mode where all cars are equal no matter aero or upgrades.
Online races would benefit substantially from a proper match making system. I personally would also like to see a competitive racing mode added back where winning and losing actually matter!!!
Ironically, the daily task provided a leveled field for online racing. After completing it, I went back to custom open where every player is in the dodge viper and raced against all those clueless players wasting their time to get the daily done but wonāt be able to.
In what regard are custom lobbies not possible?
You can get 12 friends together in a convoi and race (or drift) in open all day long.
Only problem is finding an empty server first (initial races might start with only 8 or ten of you), but after a while all convoi members are āin the raceā.
Friends and me used this to get required open racing wins for non competetive teammates.
Clueless is a bit harsh, how is anyone supposed to 2nd guess that ācomplete open racingā actually means complete āopen racing in open racingā
Doesnāt make it untrue. Iād wasted my time doing single and full event in custom open before coming to the forums and learning I had to do it in standard open lobby without having a clue.
Clarity in the task description would have been so helpful.
Upside was going back to custom and finding a bit of fun casual racing among the farce at the expense of those going through the same thing I did.
Meta cars are not automatic wins online. The better driver someone is the more options of competitive cars they will have to select since most random lobbies are not filled with elite drivers who run world record times but with average drivers that are several seconds slower.
If you pay attention to the times most people do in each track, you will realize what times you need to be competitive in that track most of times. Then you only have to find a car you can do this time.
Yep. I did Open Racing a few times last night with the '13 Viper. Won the championship once. Finished 2nd in championship points another time. Was racing against players using Boneshaker and '32 Ford. Itās all about staying on the track, braking as little as possible, taking corners well, and not fighting other players.
I have had some great racing experiences recently using the - Online group invites. It has quite a few cruise, car meet, and drift.
But groups do pop up that are looking for racers - to - race with.
This has been very entertaining as well as a good way to learn about some great custom tracks, and meet new people online.
My online friend numbers sky rocketed when started doing this.
At the point where I canāt sign on without seeing racing buddies already in a lobby that I can easily join and race with.
Should check it out if looking for some fun clean racing . . .
I actually like the random online lobbies. They have their disadvantages but once you are able to get a lot of wins you donāt care that much for some rammers you will meet along the way.
Racing against the same people again and again or wasting my time in free roam is not my thing.
I donāt even know whatās meta. I just kinda pick cars I like, mostly 90s sports cars and see what happens. Only when Iām doing particularly tricky X races do I pull out the Sesto.
Although I am a Viper fan, Iāll admit itā¦
Anyway, some people try hard, some people want to win with a maxād Supervan. Just let people race how they wanna race and if you want, you can invite friends to have more organized races that arenāt too sweaty.
The best way to play Horizon games in my opinion is by joining a club that is best suited to you. Experiencing the multiplayer aspect of the game within a private lobby suited to your tastes is truly rewarding.
Another great way to get some great clean racing is getting to know the popular Twitch Streamers, and asking for an invite to race with them. They are usually better drivers that are looking for players that play and drive clean as well.
Your races will be broadcast live for all viewers to see, but my Twitch play times have been some of the best racing experiences I have had.
I mostly have really good experiences in terms of the racing at the front, but I donāt feel like doing more than a few races or championships a go in this format. (My hump fills up quickly.)
This Honda Cup or last weeks Viper open race could have been a cool lobby with a participation award like that cool Honda hoodie for everyone and a bonus badge for winning it.
Little things like that might make it more appealing for people to dip their toes in and spend time getting faster and stronger. They might wannaā¦ do the race again?
Engage more.
Yh, the game has never provided a platform for balance (well I guess maybe FH1 where tuning didnāt exist).
All you can do to match pace is to join in with the said meta, and see if your enjoyment actually increases in a lobby scenario. These titles are not the kind of games you can just build a nice clean looking stanced JDM and it will win races. Doesnāt work like that.
I know though bro, it sucks to have to constantly stick to the way the game rewards performance, or on the contrary be left in the dust because your not running the fattest tyres, a massive wing on the back and 800hp but thatās Horizon.
Iāve been around for a while and whilst skill does get my ability somewhat close to the stronger options in game in the end it wonāt be enough to make up an extra 500hp of difference and 0.2 - 0.3 Gās of grip.
I can also recommend lowering your class to B for Opens if need be. Lower classes have less room for PI and there is less probability of power and extreme grip being taken advantage of. Even though the Civics and Integs still do exist.
Not all of us like purist builds though.
Huh? I mentioned that in my first post because OP eluded to the frustration of constantly losing.
If heās frustrated then take the time to learn the game and put yourself on a level playing field with the others. Itās not hard.
