I was recently thinking about what the location for the next Horizon game could be. I then thougt of Japan as the setting for the new game. I then came up with some cool ideas for locations, barn finds and showcase events, and I thought it would be cool to post it here to see what you guys think…
So first some location ideas…
At the top part of the map would be a mountain. various roads would go up this mountain, twisty road like fujimi, regular windy road, dirt path etc…
at the top of the mountain would be a small town or village, something like this:
Second would be a city, inspired by Tokio. This city would have parts of the highway running through the city itself, passing lots of buildings and skyscrapers. Maybe even add a moving tram trough the city and organise a car meet in a car park at night…
Also a town inspired by Kyoto would be very cool. when driving to this place you would pass a lot of colored trees which would look very cool. In the area itself would be this massive temple, also awesome for car meets…
these would be only a few parts of the map, I think that these 3 on their own would be to small. there would also be a massive highway connecting the parts of the map
Then now some cool barn find cars! these are all very cool Japanese classics, Most of these are not in Forza Yet but Some are…
And at last some Showcase Event ideas. These would really give us some new special events that we haven’t seen before…
What do you guys think? Should we show it to Turn 10 and Playground?
From what you’ve laid out, I would say it is a cool idea; however, Playground Games would, undoubtedly, be working on Horizon 3 already with a plan now set in stone in terms of location. In the end, the developers are going to go, research, and fictionally reconstruct the landscape of their choosing and we’re just along for the ride.
That brings memories from Tokyo Xtreme Racer… great times… Japan roads looks great for drifting, but I dont know how it would work for more open worlds races like cross country.
Heh. Without question, the train would be throttled to a ridiculously slow speed. Reminds me of how in Forza Horizon 2 the C-130-esque transport aircraft seemingly loomed like a blimp as you wound around Nice.
I remember seeing something along these lines earlier which also mentioned Japan as a location for another Horizon game. Your pictures are not appearing, with the exception of the showcase event.
The first showcase event looks good, the second and third look ok, while the last one looks plain weird. Wouldn’t it be better to race a gondola up the mountain?
That said, how would you race the bullet train? Those things are on their own rail, very fast, and no stops needed… It’d be a good idea but as was said, the train would be throttled to ridiculously low speeds as in the Train in Vain showcase or the Jaguar in the rain in Nice event…
The 2nd and 3rd events would be fun. You could race through the town and country around the bay while the boat goes striaght across…
Aside the two last showcase events I find weird (racing monkeys, my comment is wordless), I really like your ideas.
Unfortunetly, those good ideas would only be realisable in Horizon 4, and that is if, Horizon 4, there is, because at this point, we are not even sure to have Horizon 3.
This being said, I propose you show these ideas aside the showcase (monkeys… I’m still laughing after 10 minutes).
