We absolutely will see this “outside of China”. Horizon 5 doesn’t have the capability for region-specific cars. Online play is across all regions, and if you are put in a Horizon Life session or an online race with a Chinese player driving one of these cars, you have to have the model in your game to see it.
I don’t see why having new manufacturers in a Forza title is a bad thing. I’ve always said the more, the merrier. It also helps with marketing bullet points. How many games have Rimac for example? I could see this a free DLC for the holidays, separate from Car Pass since I’m pretty sure nobody asked for these cars in the Wishlist. Maybe some of these cars have nice bodykits to make them better looking, guess we’ll have to wait and see.
.
Alright, I admit I misjudged the “minivan” in passing. It struck me as a lot smaller for some reason - I thought it was in the vicinity of a hatchback/microcar. So I’m less interested in 1/4 of them than I thought.
We keep getting cars no one wants so why do they even ask us what we would like to see?
Chinese cars coming to Forza Horizon 5 for the first time in Series 4 update
For the first time in a Forza game, you’ll soon be able to drive Chinese cars in Forza Horizon 5 including the Nio EP9 supercar.
Well I want them, so you don’t speak for everybody.
Tell that to the people on Reddit who wanted “normal” cars acting as if that’s what everyone wanted. Also, I’m pretty sure you didn’t even know what the Sunshine was till they announced it like the majority of us.
Some of us do pay attention to what cars other countries are making and not just what are considered mainstream manufacturers.
And if you don’t like some cars just don’t bother with them in game its really that simple.
I don’t like a lot of supercars, but I liked the Nio in Asphalt 9 and will be happy to have it in a better racing game. I’m fine with the other three cars, too. Now, there are almost certainly other cars I would rather have, but not getting these cars wouldn’t mean we’d be getting cars I want more, so in any case it’d be ridiculous to get upset about their inclusion.

Not really upset that much, just making a point of why do they ask us what we want if it is a moot point is all.

Exactly. Heck, I often took several cars out of my wish lists because I knew some would be difficult to locate or get the licenses lined up. But if they’re just going to pick random cars out of their butts, I’m adding whatever the heck I want to my lists going forward. Yes, I’ll be “that guy.”

I mean… it IS a WISHlist and not a ReasonableRequestList. So…
Is it a moot point because a relatively tiny number of cars are these Chinese cars? Is the Wishlist only valid if every single car added to the game comes from it?
Its also not a demand list, we can wish for a lot of things in life but reality is we don’t always get them lol
You know how people say BMW made the new large kidneys for the Chinese market expecting the rest of the world to just “deal with it”?
Well, now you have Playground and Forza making DLC tailored for Chinese players and expecting the rest of the world to follow. All while making us pay once again for the 911 Sport Classic (it was 10 years ago but still).
My country has a much better automotive history than China’s, but we never got our cars in the game. Unfortunately our population is less than a fifth of China’s, so there aren’t as many potential Game Pass subs here, right?
The cars are to celebrate Chinese New year, like we had special events and things to celebrate Christmas and New year, they may in future have other special things to celebrate other cultures special events who knows. Chinese New year is Somthing that is recognised not just in China.

There’s a lot more to this move than people realize.
Forza had Chinese New Year bonuses before, but they were just skins. Adding completely new cars to appeal to a wholly different demographic is unprecedented in the franchise. If this trend continues, expect it to shape new content added to the game, which will take attention away from the content people usually ask for.
It’s not too different from the Sport Classic actually. It can’t be a coincidence that this car is being brought back into Forza right when there’s rumors of Porsche making a new one based on the 992. Product placement at its best.
I must say I wasn’t expecting to see this shift in priorities so early. Microsoft wants to play ball in Tencent’s court. I wonder if they’ll be successful.

I know it’s very speculative, but: Remember some new Porsche models got released instantly in the current Forza game when the real car was revealed?
It happened for the 992 Carrera S and the 2019 Macan Turbo in Forza Horizon 4.
The new 992 Sport Classic is rumored to be revealed in February, so I would not be surprised if we actually got the new one as well next month.
That would also be some kind of excuse for releasing a not really “new to Forza” car through the Car Pass - because we would get an actually new one at the same time.

Big woop. We didn’t get Christmas cars other than already in-game cars with Christmas liveries. Why couldn’t they just settle for cars that were already in-game with Chinese New Year themed liveries that didn’t waste valuable car roster space and validate the strange requests for “normal” cars? Also, I never mentioned it in my previous posts, but adding meme cars that are effectively exclusive to one culture and adding them into a game in entirely separate culture seems really off. The Sunshine is not something that transcended into general pop culture like the Peel or the Reliant did through Top Gear. The whole thing feels like a forced attempt in replicating those aforementioned cars’ international “meme” success.
It shouldn’t surprise anyone. With general wealth growth of the Chinese middleclass China became THE market to be in. Whether the car, entertainment or countless other industries.
Disney is doing it for years, bands like Coldplay collaborating with Asian market opener like BTS or games shifting content towards it. All economic decisions and a trend expected to increase.
We in the EU or the US market aren’t the most attractive ones anymore.
