I like the steering sensitivity with my TX set at 540 DOR, but I do find it a bit too easy to steer “past” the grip. When you get to the edge of grip in a turn, you feel the FFB fighting you a little bit, but when it breaks loose, there is just nothing and it feels like you’re on glass. Not at all what a car feels like in a slide. I really wish they’d take a look at that - i think it could make an enormous difference.
Well sad news as this hs not changed with the game. I thought it was modifications to the game’s physics… but from what I’ve read here… it’s the TX wheel. To me the wheel feels somewhat better in FH2 but not much. The snap oversteer is horrible. The car breaks loose easliy as mentioned and you loose almost all feel of the road/car.
This is such a shame as the TX wheel was not cheap and T10 stated they had to do this due to such improved FFB on Xbone… which is all BS since the wheel is not and has not been right since FM5.
It will take some practice, but I have no complaints with anything. going through the tunnel there are some grates that take you hit, turn into them with your wheel, just a twitch, and you will notice those bumps smooth out. Same with launching, hit it perfect and the wheel wont jerk nearly as bad.
I agree. I just got the tx a few months ago and I was pretty shocked to find out how bad forza 5 and horizon 2 were with the wheel. I wish it wasn’t the case because this is my favorite racing series but it is barely playable with a wheel. I’m suprised turn 10 didn’t even attempt to make the steering wheel controls better. I figured that with project cars out, and asseto corsa on its way next year that they’d step it up on that front. I know wheel users are a small percent of players but it is a racing game. I’ve always considered forza a simcade, but the fact that you can’t drive a car with an actual steering wheel forces me to change my mind on what the game is which is an arcade game. Don’t get me wrong it feels great with a controller and I will continue to play because I enjoy the series but I am disappointed that they couldn’t even try to do a better job on something that I feel is pretty important to a racing game.
See now, this is the beauty and curse of “teh Interwebz” - there’s a quote that opinions are akin to the distal end of the gastrointestinal tract, everyone has one and they all have an aroma
FWIW I’m an okay racer with some top 300 times but I completely cannot race with a controller. One of my good friends insists the wheel is borked in the FM6 demo and she can run 2-3 seconds faster with a controller, but we’ve been pretty evenly matched in FM5 to date. I haven’t dumped hours into the demo but on the leaderboards we’re pretty close there too. The difference is she tends to change TX settings (DOR, sensitivity, what have you) whereas all I change are deadzones in the game. Anyway, try the TX with stock settings - it’s plausible these were the only parameters the game was QA’d under.
Edited to add: Babaluk also has a good point about no tunes in the demo.
That’s not the whole story. Go to Project Cars and race stock road cars (which you can’t upgrade). You’ll feel when they’re on the limit and know when you have more room for improvement. And the traction is not as linear as Forza, (which seems more realistic).
I know what you’re saying but it’s not all about comparing controller to wheel times. Also about the experience.
Nope,Ive used it stock settings.Total disconnect from road.Imo,times are not the issue, sure I can “use” the wheel and get good times but im sliding and drifting all over the place the entire lap.Thats total disconnect from the car.
Exactly, its a racing game, hence a wheel should be a priority to function appropriately in 2015.I like the immersion you get with a wheel setup.
Idk,I guess I can try to get better with a controller but after using the wheel in project cars and it performing so freaking well Im disappointed turn ten couldnt get this right.Especially with all the complaints of how awful it was in forza 5.Sigh…
I honestly think that turn ten has designed this game with only the gamepad in mind. The wheel is an afterthought.
Guys your not alone…controller rumble is worse weak in fm6.it was great in fm5. I can’t understand why turn 10 not listen the community in so many ways. Same with cockpitview…to far behind…did high tower adjust the cockpitvies. You feel in some cars you sit on the backseat. But they’ll never change it, because they think everthing is perfect what they do. Really sad…but i try to concentrate on the positive things.
I hear ya. But I think and im sure you agree the controller/wheel is the single most important thing.Make all the eye candy and sounds you want but without a great controller/wheel its all for nothing
Same here, its like driving on a hockey rink, these cars lose grip way sooner than the real life cars do.
I’ve driven the Audi in the demo and it feels NOTHING like the car does in real life.
The physics are getting worse with each iteration.
And where’s the innovation, Project Gotham let you adjust your camera view for Gods sake and that was what 10 years ago, the sense of speed would be far better with a bit of adjustment, the default views haven’t changed since 1.
Wheels spins in sim? really? That’s your innovation?
Ill be getting a refund on my special edition Forza 6 Xbox tomorrow.
Here’s hoping Asseto gets it right.
They made sure to get the controller right, the wheel is second since it is such a low percentage of users. I put PCARS back in and it is amazing how much feedback you get.
Will not be buying Forza 6 and it is this reason. I enjoy racing games, but it must work well with a wheel. It just completely enhances the experience. Forza demo does not utitlize wheels well, and it is highly likely the full game is the same. I wish Turn 10 would put more attention in to the wheels. It has been all flashy numbers and graphics the last two motorsport titles. Please make improvements on the FFB. I will pick up Forza when/if that happens.
I will go on livestream at thursday and ervybody who wants a change should do the same. Im curious if they will only answer question they like. Sadly it’s true that 80 % give not that much attention on these things. But on our tier they can see that whe be supporters from start and help with to make forza that big. Why they can’t give a little bit back. Is it really to juch to get good rumble, ffb and adjustable cockpitview. In some cars the position is to far behind so tgat wheeluser can get a right feeling. Not in all but in a lot of cars.
They’re not going to change anything, if they were going to it would have been done with a patch to forza 5 or changed for horizon 2 but it wasn’t. I honestly don’t know if it’s an issue with their physics or they just don’t know how to program a wheel with acceptable ffb in 2015. If it’s the physics it’ll never change, if it’s just the programming there’s a possibility. Even if we were going to comment on their live stream they will just side step or totally ignore these comments on the wheel support. They’ll say it’s full compatible with a wheel, they’ll say real race car drivers play their game, that their stats show people still play with wheels, bla bla bla, it won’t change.

Sorry man but it’s all true. While I’ve read a handful of people say the wheel feels “awesome” with these games, i just feel as though they are trying to not feel bad about spending hundreds of dollars on a wheel for a game that doesn’t support it properly. It’s not that it’s literally unplayable, you can tune cars to work better with the wheel, the problem is those tunes aren’t competitive with people using a controller at all. So basically if you only play single player then maybe it won’t be so bad but as for rivals and multiplayer your going to feel like you wasted your money. If you race on PC or plan to buy project cars (which is good with a wheel) as well as forza then id say to get a wheel, but I couldn’t recommend getting one solely for forza.
