I understand that it is hard to bring in new cars. I understand that retexturing older models takes some time. What I don’t understand is going barely one step beyond Horizon 4 and 5 and advertizing cars that appeared in the last few titles with no issues as “new content”.
The Lamborghini Aventador Superveloce appeared in Horizon 3, Motorsport 7, Horizon 4 and Horizon 5 with no issues at all.
The Bugatti Veyron Super Sport appeared in Motorsport 4, 5, 6 and 7, as well as in Horizon 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 with no issues at all.
The Lamborghini Sesto Elemento appeared in Motorsport 4, 5, 6 and 7, as well as in Horizon 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 with no issues at all.
The Ferrari 488 GTB appeared in Horizon 3, Motorsport 7, Horizon 4 and Horizon 5 with no issues at all.
The cycle is repeating itself, this time with other randomly picked cars. Horizon 4 got rid of dozens of cars from the previous game to bring them back multiple months into the game’s life. Horizon 5 got rid of over 200 cars to bring them back also months into its life. It seems like the almost 500 cars from Motorsport 7 that didn’t make it to FM are going to return the same way, as pure filler content. I would understand that if the cars were remodeled, something you should’ve done with a good 20% of the launch car list, but you mostly got rid of Xbox One models that were good enough to use in this “next gen” game.
While it is true that we don’t need to play the game at a certain time to get most of them, I still don’t really see why the vast majority of cars you got rid of aren’t in the game at launch. Licenses clearly aren’t a major issue when you’re still using deformed FM1 models for over 50 cars, most of which being actual fan favourites. Making sounds is also a debatable topic, as most cars have incorrect sounds either way, so you can make sounds for them for cheap and then edit them in a later update. It also doesn’t make sense that most of the cars you got rid of are lower trims of cars already in the game, like the Aventador SV when there’s already an SVJ. You could incorporate higher trims of cars to Car Levels and make them have an actual point to exist. But no, it’s all too hard.
But maybe it is a good thing that you got of hundreds of completely fine cars from the previous Motorsport considering the vast majority of cars currently in the game, including all race cars, have zero use in the Builders Cup?
Its a live service game. So they cut out cars and tracks to add them over time. Thats how they keep you playing and boosting game pass.
Absolutely no doubt. Good to see Spania back though
Considering that FH5 still hasn’t ran out of FH4 cars to bring back, FM won’t run out of cars from FM7 at the rate of even 10 returns per update for a long time.
That’s probably what they’re going for. Padding returning cars as they build new ones, I mean geez there’s a lot missing. That’s probably why every single car pass car save the m2 is a new to Forza race car.
That’s what Horizon does. Not a surprise…
Not impressed with all these returning cars. Looking forward for the Saleen LM and the Gordon Murray. And thank God for the next 4 car pass cars being race spec. Didn’t like there was a BMW road car tbh.
Imagine if any other game company did this by being back reused content from their previous titles as “new content” or charge you again (looking at the outdated and inaccurate Porsche 911 Sport Classic and the Audi TT RS). Such a shame truly.
Cars alone do not have to be the new content. New roads, new places, new character models, new horns, new music, more casual PVP game modes in Festival Playlist. You can do it if you’re willing to.
Aside from the tracks, the content update for FM 2023 in terms of new cars has been abysmal. I wholly agree with your sentiment @MatateusanR5
If your game has been plagued with graphical, audio and gameplay issues, at least put the effort to bring in new cars fri the content update. Something that says “Thank you for being patient with us while we work to address these problems, here’s a few new cars as part of the content update!”
