CAR TYPES NEED AN UPDATE

Okay, this is going to be a long one and I’ve been thinking about this for some time now. I know that right now when I’m posting this FH5 is no longer supported so this is mostly something i wish will be improved in FH6 based on everything I think doesnt work in the current game. However the point still stand because I think that Car Types in FH5 and future installments, need a refreshment. In short, what i mean is that some car types or special categories for racing are in a need for an update. Now begins the part when I dig deep into the details. One of the things that really annoys me in FH5 are cars placed into wrong categories. What i mean by that is that certain cars in FH5 are associated with wrong types and categories of cars. Whats also important to mention, I think the games will benefit from creating new Car Types and deleting some which are unnecessary (more on that also later). Some of these examples (which i will expand upon later) can be debatable and I’m all for it. On the other hand some are straight up incomprehensible to me. Here is where the fun begins, because now I’ll attempt to list all or at least most of them (with explenations, and in alphabetical order):

  • “Buggies” - to be honest I’m not really sure about this, because originally when the game launched, I had a big problem with the separation of “Offroad Buggies” in FH4 to “Unlimited Buggies”, “Buggies” and “UTV’s”. However, after all these years, I kind of changed my mind. Hear me out because the idea itself is really good but the execution was far from ideal. When FH5 launched “Buggies” Car Type only had 2 cars, and the “UTV’s” Car Type had 3. It’s just not enough for a separate Car Type. And the problem is still in the game, while yes these classes have become more enjoyable with the addition of new cars, “Buggies” still has “only” 4 cars. But the biggest problem i see is the fact that the “Unlimited Buggies” Type has cars in it, that shouldn"t be there. Cars like the Ariel Nomad, Exomotive Exocett Off-Road and the Hot Wheels Rip Rod just don’t fit compared to the cars like the Alumicraft #122 Class 1 Buggy. I’m not sure how to resolve this problem ideally because at this point the separate calsses make sense. That’s maybe sometning to look into in future installments.

  • “Classic Racers” - There are two types of cars that I think don’t fit in this category. The first type includes: the Ford Lotus Cortina and the Jaguar Mk. II 3.8. Problem with these is that I get why they are in this category. Their rich racing history definately justifies their placement in there. The problem is that they are literally too slow and are completly uncompareble to other “Classic Racers”. They could be placed in “Classic Sports Cars” and would be similar to the rest of the grid. The second group are cars like the Porsche #3 917 LH, Porsche #23 917/20, Ferrari 512 S and the Lola #6 Penske Sunoco T70 MKIIIB. These cars on the other hand, I feel like are too fast. I’m not sure if putting them in “Extreme Track Toys” would be the best option but “Classic Racers” is just not the right place. Most of the cars are B or A class while these sit comfortably in S1. Maybe a new car type designed for actual race cars? Maybe somewhere in the future…

  • “Cult Cars” - Toyota Sera shouldn’t be here and I think we all know why. It completly doesn’t fit and should be placed in “Retro Sports Cars”. Maybe in “Retro Hot Hatch” but its a BIG maybe.

  • “Extreme Track Toys” - This category connects with a bigger issue that I have with “Track Toys”, but I’ll save the best for later. On a basic level I think that the Apollo Intensa Emozione and the Bugatti Divo should be placed in “Hypercars” but thats debatable. At least with the Apollo.

  • “GT Cars” - I think that the Aston Martin Vantage, Aston Martin DBS and the Alfa Romeo 8C should be rather placed in “Super GT” but thats just a suggestion and I won’t stand strong on this.

  • “Hot Hatch” - The Wuling Hongguand Mini Ev Macaron is NOT a “Hot Hatch”. While its a fun car its just not “Hot” in a way a “Hot Hatch” should be. The problem is, I have no idea what other category it should be placed instead. So I guess that I just have to deal with this. The other car that is also not so “Hot” and is definately NOT a “Hatch” is the Volkswagen ID.4. Its just an SUV. End of the discusion and should be placed in “Sports Utilty Heroes”. Also the Abarth 695 Biposto is a “Super Hot Hatch” prove me wrong.

  • “Modern Sports Cars” - I’m not 100% sure on this but I think the Porsche 911 Speedster and the Porsche 911 Carrera S, should be considered “Modern Super Cars”. While the older 991’s from the 90’s and 2000’s were definately sports cars the newer ones are I think just too fast and too expensive to be left at just “Modern Sports Cars”. Also the TVR Griffith should be in “GT Cars”. S1 class, V8 and almost 500 BHP. For me? Straight to “GT Cars”.

  • “Modern Super Cars” - I’m not sure about the Porsche 911 Reimagined By Singer - DLS being a full on super car, but again it might be too fast for “Modern Sports Cars”. What I am sure about is that Spania GTA Spano should be a “Hypercar”. There already are “Hypercars” with lower PI, and this cars is currently the only “Modern Super Car” in S2 class. It just doesn’t fit,

  • Offroad - Oh boy, this is one of those classes that actually make me mad. It literally doeasn’t make sense in its current form (the same since launch btw). So by idea it should separate actual offroad race cars from other “Unlimited Offroaders”. So why are there so many cars that should be in “Offroad” but aren’t? Alumicraft #6165 Trick Truck, Both RJ Anderson Polaris Trucks, All of the Extreame E, JIMCO #240 Fastball Racing Spec Trophy Truck, Honda Ridgline Baja Trophy Truck and the Nissan Pickup #23 Rally Raid, all of these are purpose - built offroad race cars. While I get why someone might want to separate the trophy trucks from others, The Extream E and the Nissan Pickup #23 Rally Raid are a literal must have there. Because in its current form the category is very underwhelming, so eaither fix it or delete it and give the “Offroad” name to what is now known as “Pickups & 4x4’s”. Speaking of which…

  • “Pickups & 4x4’s” - Car selection here is actually pretty good and I don’t have any issuse with it. What I have an issue with is the name. While in English its not terrible at best, in other languages the problems begin. And yes I am aware and I want to make it clear that I’m really speaking for my self only here but in Polish (which is the language I play the game in) the name is terrible. Its too long and words like “4x4’s” are not easily translateble, and there are no good substitutes for them. Thats why simple “Offroad” always worked. But this was just my personal rant and I had to vent somewhere with this issue so don’t take this too seriously.

  • “Rally Monsters” - The Hoonigan Ford Escord RS1800 is NOT a rally car and I have no idea why it was added to this category in FH4, and I have no idea why its still there in FH5 since we have now a special dedicated class for “Drift Cars”. No idea why its not there.

  • “Rare Classics” - While the name is fitting the Mercedes-Benz SSK and the Bentley 8 Litre should be considered vintage. While i think the Mercedes would fit nicely in “Vintage Racers” next to the Bentley Blower 4-1/2 Litre Supercharged, I don’t really know what to do with the 8 Litre beacause its definately NOT a race car. I guess it has to stay in “Rare Classics” for now.

  • “Retro Hot Hatch” - This might be a bit controversial but I think the Acura RSX Type S, Acura Integra Type R, Honda Prelude SI and the Volkswagen Corrado VR6 are not Hot Hatch. While I know that they are here because they are FWD but that shouldn’t matter. I think these cars would fit much better in “Retro Sports Cars”. What also should be in “Retro Sports Cars” is the Autozam AZ-1. In what way is this a Hot Hatch?? 2-Door, 2-seater, Mid-engined and RWD, literal definition of a sports car.

  • “Retro Sports Cars” - Two Things. First I would maybe consider putting the NSX’s in “Retro Super Cars” but thats just a suggestion. Secondly. Aston Martin Lagonda IS NOT A SPORTS CAR. Just put it in “Retro Saloons” where it belongs. Thank you.

  • “Retro Super Cars” - I would consider putting the Lotus Elise GT1 in “Track Toys” but again just a suggestion.

  • “Super GT” - Ferrari California T is not a “Super GT” it would fit much better in just “GT Cars”. And also I would consider putting the Mercedes-Amg GT R in “Modern Super Cars” again just a suggestion.

  • “Super Hot Hatch” - I don’t know if it is but that might be a hot take but I don’t think the Hyundai Veloster N and the Renault Megane RS 250 are “Super Hot Hatch”. I think they are just “Hot Hatch”. But again I’m not standing strong on this.

  • “Track Toys” - Okay this car type is the actual reason why I’m making this post. This category needs a complete overhaul. So to make everything clear. Lets start with the cars that just don’t fit in this class:
.1 - Nissan GT-R Nismo - should be in “Modern Super Cars”
.2 - Fast And Furious Flip Car 2.0 “Fast X” - should be in “Rods And Customs” (Also a terrible name to translate btw)
.3 - Noble M400 - (maybe) should be in “Retro Super Cars”
.4 - Chevrolet Hot Wheels Copo Camaro - should be in “Extreme Track Toys” (Because wdym a custom 1000+ HP drag car is not “Extreme”?)
.5 - Cupra URBANREBEL Concept - should be in “Extreme Track Toys”
.6 - Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 - should be in “Modern Muscle”
.7 - Chevrolet Summit Racing Pro Stock Camaro - shoulde be in “Extreme Track Toys” (Because wdym a Pro Stock drag car is not “Extreme”?)
.8 - BMW M3 GTS - should be in “Super Saloons” (Debatable)
.9 - BMW M4 GTS - should be in “Super Saloons” (Debatable)
.10 - Chevrolet Camaro Jordan Luka 3 Motorsport Edition - should be in “Rods and Customs”
.11 - Ginetta G10 RM - should be in “Modern Sports Cars”
.12 - Forsberg Racing Toyota Gumout 2JZ Camry Stock Car - should be in “Extreme Track Toys”
(Because wdym a NASCAR race car is not “Extreme”?)
.13 - Hot Wheels Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Custom - should be in “Rods and Customs”
.14 - Morgan Aero GT - should be in “Modern Sports Cars”
.15 - McLaren 600 LT Coupe - should be in “Modern Super Cars”
.16 - Fast And Furious Chevrolet Impala Super Sport “Fast X” - should be in “Rods and Customs”
.17 - Ferrari 488 Pista - should be in “Modern Super Cars”
    .18 - McLaren 765LT - should be in “Hypercars”
.19 - Ford Mustang Mach-E 1400 - should be in “Drift Cars” (It literaly promoted the DRIFT club story)
.20 - Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R - should be in “Modern Muscle”
.21 - Ferrari 458 Speciale - should be in “Modern Super Cars”
Yeah, approx. 20 misplaced cars in a category is for me unacceptable. Also, while after clearing out the misplaced cars its not that bad, i still feel like the game needs an additional car category dedicated to track cars. Because even now a Ferrari #25 Corse Clienti 488 challenge or the TCR race cars don’t fit right in the same category as a for example Dodge Viper ACR. I feel like the addition of a one more category dedicated to race cars would benefit the game so much. Such category could include cars that are now scattered across multiple car types. After such separation they would work much better. “Extreme Track Toys” would have cars like: Ferrari FXX-K, Ariel Atom 500 V8, Chevrolet Summit Pro Stock Camaro, Mitsubishi Nr.1 Sierra Sierra Enterprises Lancer Evolution Time Attack etc. This new car type (lets call it “Race Cars” for now) would have cars like: Ferrari #25 Corse Clienti 488 challenge, Hyundai #98 Bryan Herta Autosport Elantra N, BMW Nr.1 BMW M Motorsport M8 GTE, Porsche #3 917 LH etc. And what would be left would create a nice and tidy “Track Toys” car type including: BAC Mono, Aston Martin Vantage GT12, Jaguar XE SV Project 8, Lotus 3-Eleven etc. I think the allround effect of this would clean up and create much more balance in these car types.

  • “Trucks” - To be honest in its current state this car class doesn’t make any sense. Just two totally different cars and it just doeasn’t work. I could very well see the Unimog in the “Vans & Utility” category and the #24 Tankpool24 Racing Truck? Maybe “Track Toys”? Maybe the imaginary Race Cars category.
And these were just my gripes with the whole Car Categories system and the way cars are sorted. And don’t even get me started on the “special” car themes while creating a race because some of them haven’t been updated or have barely been updated since the game launched. But thats a different topic. Maybe someday I’ll make a separate post to talk about this.
Concluding, I hope I’m not the only one who noticed these “imperfections” in the Car Types system, and I hope someone will actually read this and maybe this will start some sort of a debate. Anyways If you menaged to get this far thanks for reading and let me know what you think. See y’all on the road!
(Also sorry for any spelling mistakes or anything like that).

Kudos to anyone who read all of that.

@JACHUL3C welcome to the Forums and thank you to using the Suggestions Hub. Sorry to lock this right away but for tracking purposes we need voting topics to be limited to one idea each. In the case of divisions that would be a single topic on Buggies, a single topic on Classic Racers, etc. Since these suggestions address car grouping please create separate topics in the Horizon Features > Car Features section with the tag fh-Car-Grouping if a topic does not already exist for that division. Thanks!
