Car performance and grip are less than in real life.

All skylines was dumbed down in all the forzas . I’m pretty sure , it’s about money … Nissan GTR R35 stock real life lap 7:22 on the nordschleife , good luck with that in forza (no matter which one …)

A real life r32 gets that time on the ring when driven by an experienced race driver, not some guy sitting at home playing a video game. I imagine if you sat that particular driver down in front of a thrustmaster tx setup he’d get a similar time.

But the experienced race driver is having to worry about dying a bit so might be holding back a little compared to the guy in the chair who is only worrying about a dirty lap. There are too many variables for an accurate comparison.

Not sure if anyone else read the description in the video or the comments but the car is not stock, it has top speed limiter removed (Who knows what else) and its being driven by a professional driver that has already set record times at the ring according to the comments. Either way the driver is crazy, he’s not even wearing a helmet and 200km/h around turns (about 124mph) at the ring is insane. Good luck trying to match that time even with an upgraded R32.

There’s not enough info in the video to know what the car has or doesn’t have, no way to claim its stock, esp. when it says top speed limiter removed.

i just watched the stock godzilla on the ring and it was amazing but what is also amazing is how good the in game ring is compared to real life… if only i could get a godzilla round the ring the game that quick would be epic lol

It said his lap time was 8’22". If you look on forza leaderboards, there’s guys getting 20 seconds faster than that in D class cars. Seems possible to match real life times.

Maybe you’re just not doing it quite as well as the professional racer in the video.

For some reason AWD seems to be “simulated” as poor handling in Forza Motorsport games, yet the Nismo GTR is #4 around the Ring. Also, as far as traction, I am not sure if anyone who makes the game has even driven on race track because I could get better traction on the street than on race tracks on Forza 5.

The traction is pretty realistic. The problem is that playing Forza 5 (or any racing game) does not translate the sense of speed and most importantly G-forces you feel when you’re cornering in a car in real life. In other words, the turn you’re sliding off the track in Forza 5 may seem exaggerated, but take the same turn at the same speed in the same car in real life and the resulting g-forces would surprise you.

I had no problem getting a 7:35 with the 2012 GT-R Black Edition, upgraded the tires to “sport” was the only modification.

Most Nurburgring manufacturer times are done with DOT approved competition tires and a suspension set up specifically for the test. They also use upgraded brakes or even a complete “Nurburgring package” of options in some cases.

You can find a list of times on Wikipedia.

I like to run cars stock (essentially) in game and compare the times with real life. To do this, I use Sport Tires, Race Springs, Race ARB’s, Race Brakes, and Race Differential. I throw a quick tune on and hit the road. There are obviously flaw in this system because the car is not “stock” in the Forza world, but it gives you the ability to tune the suspension, brakes, and differential to your preference. (In many cases some of the stock cars are ridiculous to drive without a proper suspension set up.)

My times are usually a few seconds quicker than the real-life counterpart, but it doesn’t matter to me to be exact. I just do it to have fun.

Referring to the current gen GTR as a brick aerodynamically is quite a stretch. In any case, the primary party tricks of the car are acceleration and corner speed, so realistically focussing on top speed is a bit of a miscue.

It’s a good handling car don’t get me wrong but it is a brick above 200mph and the fact that it can do 285-290mph on the le mans straight is just unrealistic

Cmon guys Forza is a pretty good simulation, but it will never be the same as real life. But it’s as close as you can get on a console

A good majority of awd cars in Forza have advance computer systems that Forza does not simulate. This is what leads to a lot of the cars handling like 4x4 trucks instead of how they behave in the real world.

I thnk it’s funny that the gtr in game does 290 mph and the Hennessey venom gt does 267 in game and in real life it has hit 270.4 mph and still climbing LOL from now on it better be going faster than 267 in future forza games

I really think the cars in game only generically represent their RL counterparts in performance. I’ve only driven a handful of RL counterparts from the game but that’s been 100% true of every one of those. That’s driven me to an across the board opinion on it

Starting with FM 4, AWD cars have been made slower in an effort to keep things even. Unfortunately they handicapped them way too much. (see the LB)

It’s very hard to simulate cars individual computer systems that are made to compensate for

  1. AWD / Understeer
  2. FWD / Torque steer, understeer

But in general, based on the cars I’ve driven and rode in, Forza 5 has surprisingly realistic handling in the sense that you can feel familiar with the car. They manage to capture a lot of their unique characteristics, and that’s impressive for a “sandbox”.

That said, many people do ok in Forza but are poor race drivers. No matter how much I drive I can’t touch the lap times of some of my friends, they have another race vision and consistency than me. In a real car I’m decent though.
