Incorrect physics on cars

Am I the only person that’s annoyed by cars that should be much faster and are just not?

1st with this issue are the BAC mono, from real life laptimes around the world we see that the BAC mono is one of the fastest track cars there is. round the top gear track for example, its faster than any Lamborghini, but in game its slower than most.

2nd, is the Caterham r500, again from laptimes we have seen, it destroys the ktm x-bow but in game its the other way round.

Do you mean in their stock trim? When you bring upgrades into it real life means nothing anymore.

yes in stock trim

  1. The Mono is very fast in the game on tight circuits.

  2. The R500 was typically compared to the original X Bow and usually won years ago. But the version of the X Bow in Forza 6 is the newer R version which is much faster than the older version.

the BAC mono should be fast on all circuits, on the top gear track (a power circuit) the car destroys a lot of top supercars, in the game you cant get anywhere near to what it should do.
as for the Caterham r500, it was put against the R version of the x-bow and the Caterham was 1 second behind, not the 3 seconds with the game physics

The Mono is very fast on most circuits. There was a reason it was basically favoured for many in A class, there was as usual a moaning post about it which speaks for itself. The Top Gear circuit isn’t particularly a power circuit. Cars with much more power/faster accelerating than the leading time are much slower overall.

So you agree the X Bow R was faster in whatever test you saw? I doubt it is really much faster but quoting a time in seconds isn’t that useful for obvious reasons. 1 or 3 seconds faster doing what, making coffee? etc

It seems to me they are relatively close to what the real things are like

The GTE, GT3 are unupgraded much to slow . The gt3 cars in gt masters need 1:38 in hockenheim for a lap in realtime. The GTLM/GTE Cars are too slow too. Even when you upgrade this car to R900 the cars are too slow for 99% of the players. The gtlm cars runs 1:56 in sebring. That time you never reach in a unupgraded bmw z4 gte. I can continue with many other cars. Project cars done a much better job. Maybe the research for paddles take that long so there was no more time to balance the cars. Forza 4 done a great job and I was surprised that turn 10 doing such poor job in fm6.

Theres always been a debate with Forzas physics system lol. Top speeds is another which are wrong. The Aston One 77 which can achieve 221mph stock irl barely goes past 210 in the game, and the McLaren P1 with a Top speed of 217 somehow reaches 230-40mph? -__-

You’re comparing with manufactures figures and they’re notoriously incorrect. With super cars particularly they either up the top speed by claiming a “theoretical” figure or they test the vehicle in ideal conditions. Once you’re anywhere near the 200mph mark things like altitude, air quality etc make a big difference. Other manufacturers will dumb down top speed due to limiting factors like tire ratings, insurance and so on. I’m not saying Forza is acurate, only that there isn’t a true datum by which to gauge it.

Regarding lap times set by some of the track day cars again there is no datum if you’re looking at stock performance. The BAC has Kumho tires if you don’t specify an alternative but who knows what they’re fitted with at race tracks. The BAC only has 300bhp so over a lap even a 25kg difference in driver weight or the difference between a full and near empty fuel tank will have an affect.

All I’m saying is that we can’t really compare apples with apples in a game.

I don’t get it, because we don’t know all of the data (and what we do know we should assume is incorrect? What?) we should assume the game is accurate? That’s kinda silly honestly, when I drive the cars I own and have owned I can instantly spot the differences without even pushing their limits. And we do know they aren’t accurate anyways because all brakes are generic and they don’t fade, fuel usage is sometimes wildly incorrect etc. It’s reasonably accurate and it’s still fun, but I don’t know why they can’t be compared especially when you vastly overestimate the impact of some of the variables on lap times as people love to do when these arguments crop up. It’s not accurate and it’s fine, I don’t think they are really trying to be perfect there’s too many cars to model. Some are really close and some are way off.

The P1 can actually reach 245mph but is electronically limited to 217, Forza assumes there is no limiter when driving the P1.

Alright, theres still many more which I hope will be correct one day.

Forza has always been a bit funky in some of the cars physics. I’ve noticed that a lot of Ferrari’s have a ton of lift off oversteer.

That’s not one bit funky. Ferraris (especially mid-engined cars from the 80s) suffer from horrible lift-off oversteer.

Yea, I believe altering the diff can help with that

I thought it was just me, bringing the 458 stock round the ring no assists was very difficult because of lift-off oversteer, I just assumed I was doing something wrong at the time.

Game physics and real life physics are completely different. One performs calculations while the other is on the power to weight of the car. It will never be the same in real life.

In forza 4 they done a much better job. But a game with 500 cars never can battle with games like arsetto corsa or even project cars. But I found it funny when they done videos where they suggest that the cars in the game are as fast as the real cars. Turn 10 always talk from simulation but in real the game goes in the opposite direction. The nürburgring video was a bad joke where a player plays with a bmw z4 gte against a real car. First the z4 gte unupgraded never beat a real bmw z4 gte which tgey run in uscc. The joke was that michael bartels a multiple GT1 Champion drive the wrong car because it was bmw z4 gt3. This car needs 8:20 on the 24h layout. They player never ever run a time like this with that car in the game unuprade. The driver in real can’t put out the air rectrictor and put wider tyres on the car.
That video should suggest players that the cars are as fast as the real cars and thats not true. Fm6 is a game to have fun but no game to compare with real racecars.
For this whe should whait for arsetto corsa or play in the meantime project cars. Pcars is not perfect but much closer to real racecars. The cars in forza are to slow in the corners and have too much understeer what cost speed too. It’s not much but on each corner but at the end of the lap you loose a couple of seconds.

Top gear is not a power circuit

um no.
