Ok, I’m certainly a newb at this but this is bugging the hell out of me.
I’ve raced some cars that when starting out the “launch” absolutely sucks.
The RPM just bounces up to 2 or so, then back down, then back up to 2, then back down…I call it stuttering. By the time my car takes off the other cars are already way ahead of me.
This also happens if I run off the track and hit a complete stop (be it by my own fault or getting rammed)
I’ve tried doing a ‘slow’ throttle and that doesn’t seem to be helping.
The car I’m using has a ‘10’ rated launch, so I know there’s something that I’m just screwing up on.
Any tips or anyone tell me what I’m missing (that’s probably something obvious)?
Assuming this is an issue you’re having with all cars. Hold in the clutch, hold in the throttle, let go of the clutch, and you’re off. If it’s with specific cars, shorten the first gear until it stops.
1st gear might be way too high making you hit the rev limiter. try starting in 2nd gear. or grab a different tune. by the way those X.X rating are based only on installed upgrades/parts. it dosn’t consider any of the adjustments to those parts. they can be totally irrelevant to the cars performance.
or low, i’m not a mechanic. i ment it is instantly topping out and red lineing at 5 mph. i had a tune where it did what he is explaining. i started off in 2nd. 1st gear was useless. i think it was set at max acceleration on a final drive sset for acceleration. it took less than a second to red line the gear.
Oh, I think you understood his issue wrong, he is hitting 2k rpm, then stalling out, hitting 2k rpm, then stalling out, repeatedly until he gains enough momentum to get going. The opposite of what you’re describing, unless I’m the one reading it wrong.
I get this on occasion. If you notice its gonna happen quickly press and release clutch 3 times. Rapid like. It seems to do the trick… its weird. And it’s totally random as well.
I’m having the same issue! I’m using a thrust master TMX wheel with a th8a shifter. If I give it full gas and dump the clutch it revs to 2000 rpm than dies. If I keep my foot on the gas it will rev to 2000 and die a couple more times before it gets enough momentum to start going at full power. If I let the clutch out slowly it will start and have full power. All the other racing games I play such as dirt rally 2, asetto corsa, Forza horizon 5 and dirt 4 you just give full to almost full gas and dump the clutch as quickly as you want. Is Forza motorsports just trying to teach me to be nicer to my clutch or is something wrong with my settings? I don’t actually dump the clutch on my daily driver in real life because I don’t feel like replacing the clutch every 3 months, but it’s a game where I’m driving a super fast race car so I want to just give it the beans and dump the clutch. No one actually has to replace the clutch in the game world so I want to beat on it!
