1st gear is too long
I’ve set the Lotus E23’s 1st gear to minimum a number of times and still come across the issue.
Your attention span is too short…
Ouch !
Good afternoon gents and ladies if there is any here. First off I’d like to point out as many do that I’ve been playing forza since number 1! I have both Xbox One and PS4 and wheels for both. I also play Project Cars as well. I come here often for updates and to see the chatter i do the same on project cars forum. I don’t usually post because of all the ranting that goes on, but I am making an exception today.
With that being said I just spent 2hrs doing a Showcase Event. It’s the Race Driver experience on SPA using the Audi E-tron. I restarted many times due to the stall issue being discussed and became upset every time. Then I started to change some things an experiment shall we say. First off I drive with no assist except the braking line, and I use a Wheel and Normally drive with Auto Clutch. So I turned on traction control and held the Clutch button and started off sooner then when playing with out it odd right? So I did the whole race that way came in first place. Then I went and did Free Race used the same car same track same set up thinking it was a bug with the race nope same ish! So I turned off manual with clutch and no issue. Tested the Corvette race car as well this time at Laguna Seca where i usually test my cars for tuning and same thing manual with clutch stall manual with out clutch and no issue. I was also faster without using the clutch and this is after doing 3 laps.
So I know Forza is aiming for realism and blah blah, but lets be for real this game has major issues and this isn’t one of them well let me explain! I like everyone else was pissed and trying to figure this out, but then went to car basics and think about it how many race cars have a clutch ( I’m talking high HP race cars ) none of them except maybe to start thats it but the drivers aren’t pushing the clutch in on an Indy Car to change gears or on a Nascar nor on these La Mans cars either. So here is where the problem is. T10 must have said we will stall the car if its a race car or tuned to race spec using manual with clutch, because in real life you don’t have one. Good job idiots if this is what you are going to do then do it right put some type of memo in the game or announcement from that lovely female voice that comes on from time to time. Most of us here don’t even think to look for that issue and spend hours on forums and trying to duplicate something that is being done intentional by the damn game developer.
Using the clutch in these cars is also slowing you down! in a normal car yes Manual w/clutch makes you faster, but in a race car think about it for a second you have all this HP quick gear ratios and you have to push a clutch in to change the gear you lose momentum every time you have to do this. This is why they have Race Transmissions. Its not just to be able to adjust the gears its because they don’t require you to push the clutch for every shift change. Usually only to get out of first unless they are using launch control which i’m sure most are making the clutch useless.
Its just frustrating I don’t like coming on forums and ranting, but I’ve been putting up with this game and its errors for as long as I’ve don’t with Project Cars, but say what you want I love both games. Projects cars plays much better with out a doubt. If you haven’t taken the time to get used to playing a “True Simulation Racer” on console you should. You can’t play Project Cars like you do Forza try and you will hate it trust me I did the same and almost broke my TV. Slightly Mad Studios though smaller than T10 with a smaller budget is on update 7.0 now and update with big updates every month. Does the game have issues of course it does. Are the issues game breaking only one is and that is the Save Game Issue, but thats it. I’m just saying that with all the years T10 has had to polish the series these things shouldn’t be issues anymore let alone the other stuff AI that is still not fixed and the damn Rain OMG although fun very frustrating. It’s one thing to call your game a simulation racer cool, but its another thing to put “Puddles” on the track that no race would every be allowed to be held with.
Sorry got off track there for a min, but yes the Manual with clutch thing is intentional I believe by T10 and is a serious issue for people who don’t know. They either need to fix it or take that part out and have it like it was in Forza 5. Rant over thanks for reading hope I helped some of you guys out!
Thanks for commenting. I’ve already given up playing with clutch unless its a low power sub B class car,
because truthfully i dont see any significant drop in laptimes or rather not a drop i cant fix my adjusting my driving line to be faster.
your comment with the rain had my bawling with laughter LOL Brands hatch is the worse along with a few others where a 5 foot thick puddle is crossing over the track is a hilarious fail.
I like to race with the manual and clutch configuration but can’t seem to figure out how to make it work with low power and AWD vehicles. With AWD, as soon as the race launches the car sputters to a stop, only moving forward very slowly. I can coax it a bit my rapidly hitting the clutch button but this seems like the wrong way to launch. What am I missing?
I have the same problem, with a lot of various cars but it’s intermittent. Obviously bug related. I don’t have a clue on how to launch reliably. One minute it’s fine the next it stalls. Loses me a good 5 Seconds in lobby and I have to navigate through the pack. Whom all hate me trying to overtake them.
Hey guys was having the same problem, dying on the start line but after reading through tried what P00hhead suggested, turned off TCS, and finally the car will move its not perfect but a lot better
Another technique that works - don’t rev the motor as high as possible and dump the clutch at launch. Instead, hold the revs about 3/4 of the range…for example, if the car redlines at 10k, try to hold the revs around the 7500 mark, and let the clutch out on launch. That should help the bogging issue.
The other option is to map the clutch to a proportional button (trigger, joystick) so that you can let it out slowly, aka slip the clutch (like you would in a real car).
Check out the sub forum in the fm 6 discussion, FM6 support, topic is race launch issues
[Mod Edit - thread merged, see previous posts - MM]
Hello all, on some career races my Indy car will bog and launch only after rolling quite a long time or getting hit from rear. Makes no sense to me, Long Beach is flat, no
incline etc.
FD is down to 4.80 and first gear is around 3.8 . I run no trac or stab, manual with clutch.
Engine just won’t rev up. Did not find anything on a search. Gearing set up???
Thanks, Honda

physics seem to blame as it does not allow you to go full throttle befor the launch. You may notice that the throttle is less sensitive before launch. Maybe to help you fine tune your launch rpm.
It causes a huge problem with the high grip cars. I’m no tuner but it seems fisrt gear needs to be super short or it won’t be able to overcome the grip.
My solution, instead of changing the gearing, is to double/ tripple tap the clutch to get the wheels spinning up
you do go full throlle you just get 75% clutch (so you only get 25% of the power) it its need more (% of clutch to stop you from stalling).

That’s not how it works… clutch percentage has nothing to do with engine power, it will mearely change the loading of the engine as it engages (Causing the engine to produce more/peak power output rather than less power)
I put a detailed post with pictures in the thread in the support section, T10 are aware of the issue and are working on it.

^¨^¨AMEN
I thought I’d share some experience, through recent trial and error.
When the race starts touch nothing whatsoever in the animation period. At the count of 3 blip the throttle ever so briefly,
Do nothing till the count is 1. Then full throttle. Works really well for me and is quite reliable. Although the Ai still have a better launch its the lesser of 2 evils.
Remember as soon as it says 1, go full. Works with F1 and indy car regardless of gears.
No need to play with clutch, it’s auto clutch for launches, always has been.
Ever since i bought the game i have had major problems with the lotus e23 launching.Well basically there is no launch, everyone goes flying off and i am just left sitting there sighing as i go through another rolling start. No matter what i do with the revs the car never goes with everyone else,i mean what is going on? is it just me or what?if anyone has a theory i would love to hear it,i drive with everything off apart from t/c,thanks.
Don’t use manual with clutch. It stalls every time.
For career races I switch to manual without clutch because it was so annoying.
ok it will feel weird not using the clutch but if it means i can race then i will have to adapt, thanx
