I have found an issue with the low speed physics that is causing controller users using manual w/clutch to stall on the starting grid. At close to zero speeds the simulation is not allowing 100% throttle, only about 50% which makes the initial launch very difficult. It also seems to affect the brake pedal as at low speeds brake input will have no effect until you press the brake about 80%
You can test the throttle input by standing still and see what throttle percentage it takes to hit redline, then get the car rolling and hold the clutch in and do the same while the car is moving and notice the difference.
Sorry in advance if this is the wrong place to post, I used the search and there was another thread on car stalling but that on seemed to be a track specific bug.
Have you changed all your dead zones to 0-100? That could explain your braking issue as well. If you’re still having issues, try making your first gear shorter. If it’s too long, you will stall out on launch.
For the brake issue, it is not a dead zone problem. I’ve noticed while braking at less than 100%, the car brakes properly until about 4 mph, then it just rolls as if there is no input. Doesn’t really affect game play to me since I don’t really go that slow, but wonder why it happens.
This is not a settings issue, and it’s not a gearing issue. The fact is the game does not allow 100% throttle input when standing still, regardless of deadzones or input device.
Like One Refort said, the brake issue isn’t a huge deal as you will rarely go that slow (I would still like to so it fixed though) but the throttle on take off is effecting every player, especially if using manual w/clutch
I only use manual with clutch, but haven’t really attempted to master the E23 yet. I pretty much only run S class. I would probably go manual without clutch for that though.
Well you’ll probably notice it on turbo cars that don’t have a Alot of power down low. It depends on the car but you can tune 1st gear to help take off without stalling but you shouldn’t have to, we should be able to get 100 throttle response e on take off
I think I’ve noticed it! I put it down to the game not allowing the engine to stall. So it’s like a auto clutch until 2-4mph. In other words feeling like the clutch is in-gauging slightly at @ 0 mph.
There is a thread somewhere on this already. It’s something of a bug. It happens with my wheel too. Use manual with clutch on open wheel cars and it stalls at the start of the race. It may also happen in some of the other race cars. Switching to manual with no clutch solves the problem. Using TCS may also be a factor, but it’s happened to me without TCS.
If it were the clutch slightly engaging then that would actually help the car launch, not make it bog down and stall. It’s not the TCS either as I never use it, but usually in forza games TCS doesn’t kick in until you reach a certain speed like 20-30 km/h or something
Its not just race cars without clutches being affected, it happens in the v8 supercars too, and they have clutches. It is an issue with throttle input when stationary, every car I have tested has done the same thing, from an s13 to high end race cars. None of them rev as hard when stationary compare to rolling. Different cars are affected differently because of different power bands, different grip levels never the less ALL cars are affected
Efit: the reason it won’t stall when using normal manual is because not 9nly can you not staal but it will slip the clutch on take off for you, and once you have that bit of momentum you will have full throttle. The car has more than enough power to fry the tyres off the line as do many others, but instead will stall if you try it because we are not getting full juice from standstill
Again it’s a sort of bug glitch. I wasn’t defining the issue with race car and clutches- it seems to effect them 100% so I was using that to point out which cars it happens to.
But when it does happen on said car. There are two work arounds.
#1 easiest- switch to manual. (No clutch) #2 tune the car almost inevitable. 1st gear needs to be adjusted.
Shouldn’t have to do workarounds, they should fix it. We should be able to drop the clutch and fry the tyres, not drop the clutch and stall, and get left in last place on the start line.
I can manage without stalling as I can hold my clutch pedal at about 50% and will be able to take of as it grabs, unfortunately not every one has the luxury of having a clutch pedal, so I hope it gets fixed
LOL…It happened to me on those vintage races…I was like WTF sitting last on the line regardless of slipping the clutch.
But it is really stupid to drive a car with no clutch as an option with a clutch and vice versa.
Most of the supercars and race cars have no clutch pedals and it drives me nuts seeing they can be driven with a clutch…That is really gheyyy. The game should incorporate this as a no option to switch around since it claims to be a simulator in all other aspects.
But it’s been like this for a couple games now. So a work around is all we have- and hope to future - but given that it’s not been fixed for last 4 years. I’m not placing a lot of faith in it being fixed. I will be pleasantly surprised if it is though.
Well fingers crossed, hopefully it was never fixed because they didn’t know what was causing it, after some testing I was very confident that its throttle input related, and I have never seen mention of it here before so that’s why I posted it
