Braking issue

A friend of mine has just bought fm6 and is having a braking issue. Every time he presses LT to brake, they lock instantly (abs off). He is practically tickling the trigger before they lock up, although I can get 3/4 press before they lock. I’ve been told he needs to adjust deadzones but there’s nothing for brakes in advanced settings. He’s tried adjusting the brakes on various cars to no avail. Anybody have any solutions or suggestions? Thanks in advance!!

So maybe there’s something wrong with the gamepad? Can you test on some other gamepad?

There is setting for breaking deadzone. I know because without it my breaking pedal would suck  G920 brake pedal is very stiff.

Anyways if everything else fails I would suggest using ABS. There’s no shame in using ABS and even with ABS ON you can still beat the best times.

He’s not a novice to forzas. There’s no dead zone option for a pad. He has also tried on several pads; same issue mate

your are correct Dan, it is the controller , you just got to get used to it and the brake trigger has less pull and has softer spings.

But how are 2 people, same pad, same settings, have a completely different issue? I can press the trigger most of the way before lock up. He can only press it a millimetre. It’s puzzling us

There is breaking deadzone setting for gamepad as well as wheel.

Here’s the proof:

It’s called deceleration axis deadzone.

I wouldn’t of thought it, but now you mention it…there’s no button for deacceleration. Durr lol. Thanks, we’ll try it and report back

On the Elite controller you can put the trigger lock on so you can’t push it all the way down. You still need to be careful how hard you hit it but it makes it way easier. Than turn the lock off when you get used to it.

It wouldn’t make a difference mate. It’s locking with the most minute press of the trigger. When I press my trigger to the same degree, my brakes don’t even activate, let alone lock. It’s definatly not the pad, he’s tried around 5-6 different ones. also tried different brake balances on cars, again, same issue. It’s as puzzling for me as it is for you. Really do appriciate the suggestions though

Fairly sure it’s the controller. I have all my inside/outside deads set to 0/100 and my brakes never lock up unless I get really aggressive. I’m sure you’re friend is already using engine-braking and applying the brakes at a reasonable distance as opposed to “standing on the brakes” right before a corner.

Brakes are rather sensitive in Forza - you don’t require too much input. If all else fails, one solution is to lower the brake pressure via a race brakes upgrade. If it’s still there, broken controller.

Alternatively, you could also turn on ABS.

Eliminate what’s different and you’ll find the answer.

If you’re both using the same pad make sure you’re both driving the same car in stock tune and make sure the assists are identical.

Calibrate the pad on both machines and make sure dead zones are set the same on both profiles.

Having done this the braking should be the same. If it isn’t it’s either hardware or human (try the controller on wire)

It would not be “deadzone” because that is exactly what it means… it is dead from that point on, or to a certain point. I would more than likely say it is the Brake pressure set to 200. If you eliminated the controller. Then it is game setting related.
