I think it’ll fix it for you for sure.

Go it working. It is the ipsec needs to be enabled. Thank you so much for who suggested it above! I also had more options to enable in those settings like L2psec through and another one i cant remember but i enabled those to just in case. I’ve been playing online smoothly ever since

I was having the same issue all though I had no problem using the online free roam on the demo. My NAT is on strict but I have never had a problem in another game. Anyway all I did was reset my router and modem and that cleared all issues and I can now connect fine to FH2 free roam and online road trips. Anyway just wanted to let you guys know to try this first before messing with trying to change your NAT settings and see if it works.

I can’t find IPsec or anything like that on my Belkin router in security or firewall settings, any other suggestions?

Look here:

This doesn’t seem to help me at all since I live on a college campus and have wired internet so I cannot change any of these settings

Hi Everyone,

I have suffered from exactly the same situation everyone has been describing.

I’m using a NetGear DGND3700v2, and tried all manner of things. I’ve already described much of my troubleshooting in other posts, but in a nutshell, I just updated my firmware (literally like 5 minutes ago) on my router, and boom, match making started working.

Before this I tried

  • Hard rebooting my Xbox One (holding power down for 5 seconds, waiting 30 seconds and rebooting)
  • Rebooting my router
  • Confirming on my Xbox One that my NAT was open, I had a strong wireless connection, and that both the network and multi-player connection were all working
  • Following the Microsoft Xbox troubleshooting guide, including disabling and reenabling UPnP, multiple reboots of both the Xbox and router detailed here - Xbox Support
  • Followed a Netgear port forwarding guide for Forza Motorsport 5, which details how to enable ports on your router to assist in getting multiplayer working - http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Netgear/DGND3700v2/Forza_Motorsport_5_-_Xbox_One.htm

None of those things worked, however each individual case is different and the two links above are quite detailed and may assist others, especially those with NAT restrictions (which I’ve never had).

I simply updated the firmware on my router, and it just started working like magic. I seriously had no faith in it working, and the release notes detailed nothing about IPsec and the like as mentioned in other peoples posts. But there you go, everything is worth a shot.

Good luck everyone in getting online!

looked up router settings, tried enabling IPsec, it was already enabled, still can’t join. darn u forza

I’m having the same issues as most have posted here. Spent half an hour on the phone with Xbox Live support, set up port forwarding for my Xbox One, and have reset my Xbox and my router about five times each. I am still unable to join any multiplayer sessions. My router (Belkin F9K1002V5) does not have a firmware update available. After setting up the static IP address and port forwarding, my Xbox One is able to connect to Live, but Horizon 2 still will not let me on multiplayer. I spent about two hours on this last night, and have already spent an hour on it today. Incredibly frustrating.

I bought the game on the marketplace and my NAT type was strict, and I have since changed it to Open. No joy.

Same issues here… Opened all necessary ports and have even tried DMZ for the console. No go…

I’ve been trying most of the day to get online, tried most things like resetting router, uninstalling/re installing. Turned my NAT type to strict and it works first time. I have no idea why it doesn’t work with my open NAT type.

I wish I had this luck, it doesn’t work with my NAT type set to Open or Strict.

Is it working for you guys

Make sure you two that posted above Latchy enable IPSec Passthrough, which has been mentioned throughout the thread.

My router, the Belkin mentioned above, does not have any options for IPSec Passthrough.

Same problem here, i have tried all sort of things, forwarded ports, i have open nat, ipsec enabled by default, but always unable to connect to online in FH2. Only game party with my friends. All other online games work properly . Please help! Need FIX!

Same problem, been having this problem for two days now!

i cant connect to online servers, i was doing great all the way up till this sunday, it wont let me connect to servers, i cant do private match or public matches, drivatars work fine, and i can join game party, but not an actual multiplayer game. There isn’t an IPsec option for my router, it is a Belkin N300 and i even DMZ’ed my xbox, enabled MAC address filter for my xbox one IP. i thought it might be a bad connection, nope! download speed = 13 mbps upload speed = 2.2 mbps packet loss = 0 ping = 93 i have no idea hat MTU stands for, but it is 1480. and the wireless strength is 100%. also, it says my nat is behind a cone NAT, again i have no idea what that means. it wont even let my share my tunes, designs, or photos either, so this game is unplayable, i beat the campaign, bought all the cars, completed all the championships, collected all barn finds, smashed all boards, maxed out perks, and photographed all 238 cars, not including the mobil 1 pack

HELP, before i mail a picture of crap to the forza offices to illustrate how much i am hating this inability to do multiplayer anymore

This is exactly why I think the gaming industry as a whole has regressed. There was a time when it was very important for a developer to deliver a quality product to the consumers. Then consoles gained the ability to patch a game after launch and quality snowballed out of control. PC gamers were used to getting bug fix updates post launch but midway through last generation console developers took this to extreme, often times feeling like we were getting a late beta product rather than a title that had truly gone gold. Really the only way to fight it is to not buy the products but that’s really not a solution because most of us want to enjoy the games and are willing to put up with it for 6 months until the problems are ironed out.

This does however make me respect developers like Blizzard, CD Projekt, etc who decide ultimately to delay their products because even though it’s playable, it’s not ready for mass release.
