Cannot race without upgrades in Career

I’m trying to race a stock Mazda Mazdaspeed3 in Hot hatch division. The game says that I need to upgrade and I choose “Race without upgrades” than it says that by pressing “Continue” I acknowledge that the car isn’t competitive. I do so and I’m returned to Next Event screen with track picture. I press A again, than Race without upgrades and then Continue and it returns me again to Next Event screen. It’s a loop. I distinctly remember that the game let me race uncompetitive cars before. Now it seems glitched. Any tips?

Thank you for your feedback, I’ll pass this on for investigation.

AI cars are automatically upgraded to or close to the PI limit in the particular division you’re doing. You’re getting the message so you get a competitive edge.

Since its release last year, i have enjoyed Forza 6 on a nearly daily basis. I loved the level of challenge, and competition that i have found in Forza games since Forza 1 on the original xbox. Part of that challenge for me involved racing cars that were as close to stock as possible with the exception of a few cosmetic details. I would enter a race with my car being as low as possible in the Pi (Performance index), and i loved it because of the level of challenge it brought.

After this lates patch however, i have found that the game no longer allows you to race your car unless it is upgraded as close to the max Pi allowed. This has become a frustrating issue for me. I understand that it wouldnt be fair for a Ford Mustang to have to race againts a Ford GT, i am not asking for that. However, if we want to race in the lowest Pi of the group/class, why cant we? I hope this is just a hiccup due to the patch that can be fixed soon. Otherwise let us just race based on the car class, and eliminate the Pi system all together.
Thank You.

Thank you very much for such quick response. Would really appreciate any news concerning my issue.

I understand how upgrades work in Career, its just that I want to drive stock cars and the game used to let do so.

UPDATE: Reinstalling the game didn’t help. It’s probably the NASCAR DLC that messed it up.

Have you tried changing the difficulty level of drivitars? Career has finally come to life for me since the update. Before unbeatable was a bit too challenging without being overly aggressive at the start and professional was too easy. Now professional feels just right and is a good battle for me to reach the required 3rd and possible to take 1st.

If you are talking about free-play I feel your pain. Modern GT and Global Touring Cars both have cars far to upgraded to make it fun. Hopefully in the future we will get the ability to set PI level based on our personal preferences.

I can’t get to the difficulty screen. I’m stuck at the “Next Event” screen, that one that’s right after you choose your car.
You can try it yourself. Get a stock car with like 50 PI short of max and try to enter it in career event.

I asked a friend to test it and he had the same glitch.
To replicate you have to (for example) Buy a Mazda Mazdaspeed3 from Cars → Find a car. It should have PI 381.
Than choose Career → Stories of Motorsport → Super Street → Challenger series (any would do) → Hot Hatchback. That choose “Race without upgrades” and “Continue”.
Basically you should get this glitch whenever you’re trying to enter an eligible car with a PI more than 10 below required.

I’ve got the same issue here but glad to see its being dealt with. This was never an issue before the content patch. Short video of the problem:

Hopefully it gets fixed quickly since I prefer to race cars in stock form where possible plus I like the extra challenge racing under the PI requirement gives you.

Apart from that I’m loving all the additions in the latest update! Keep up the good work.

Just downloaded 94MB patch and this glitch is still present.

I have the exact same problem as the poster describes.

I thought I was going insane the other night, stuck in an infinate loops trying to race my close to stock 86 in a D400 race. As soon as I threw some upgrades at it, getting close to 400 points, I was able to race.

Fully agree in that we should be able to choose if we want our cars to be uncompetitive - I’d say this is just an inherant bug from one of the recent updates.

Please fix

I’m having the same problem I race with stock cars it’s one of the best things about the game the nascar pack update seems to have messed this up I really hope this problem is sorted out soon.

Same problem for me - extremely frustrating.

It should be up to the gamer what car he wants t drive.

I am in the same boat…that’s quite annoying…I love to keep the cars stock in career…

It’s even worse than I thought. I’ve come in from work and loaded the game.

In career mode I was in GRAND TOURING ROLLING ROADS TOUR, even though the
game said my current car was eligible it wouldn’t let me race it unless I upgraded.

I went from group to group and dispite having several cars eligible I couldn’t
find to actually race until I got to MODERN HYPERCAR.

I found the whole experience very disheartening and to be quite frustrating.

I love the forza brand ( I have 2,3,4,5 and 6) and this change has made this
game the least enjoyable of the lot.

If people requested this change why didn’t they make it a choice on the player
profile? If they did everyone would be satisfied.

Also having an option that says RACE WITHOUT UPGRADES that doesn’t allow you
to do just that is plainly wrong.

I’ve never complained before about a game and I hope I don’t have to again.

I confirm that the issue has been fixed. Thanks Turn10.
