The biggest change I want in Forza H6 is removing the ability to buy cars from the showroom. Instead, players should earn cars through races, challenges, the auction house, the Wheel of Fortune, and some cars should be obtained through the ranked mode if it is added. The limit on selling cars in the auction should also be lifted. This way, playing more races would be the key to getting cars and making money to buy from the auction.
That sounds like even more grind and less fun.
I’m all for more ways of obtaining cars, in fact I’d love to see a Motorsport 4 style events list, combined with Motorsport 2 event unlocks. Playing Horizon 5 at all feels like enough of a grind as it is, removing a crucial, probably the most basic way of obtaining cars would benefit exactly no one.
you might be surprised to hear this, but from what I can tell most players feel the opposite, wanting the autoshow to be the main way to acess cars with less reliance on weekly fomo driven events, completely reworking or removing the auctionhouse, and although people now want ranked back, one of the main driving forces of it being removed before was people complaining about the rewards locked behind it and the sort of racing and playstyle it encouraged.
The problem with removing the limit on the auctionhouse is all that would lead to is normal cars selling for tens and hundreds of millions. Right now people already hate that every car is set at 20mil and the only way to get anything is to buy it out, and it being riddled with bots that swipe up all cars to sell later (or create accounts with certain cars to sell for real money). And how are you even going to get cars?
Theres also the problem with reward cars being behind specific challenges - I dont want to play eliminator or hide and seek at all, ever, its the opposite of fun in every way to me, dont you dare lock a car behind an accolade that forces me to play them. theres an accolade to win 50 eliminators, and is required for the 100% accolade, which awards a koeniggsegg regera. imagine if that was the ONLY way to get that car. In fact, the moris traveller is technically acolade locked right now, but the accolades were for 1 specific update. I didnt play during that update, so I cant get that car, so thats just annoying when I have about 150mil and barely anything left to get or do in game.
The idea of money is that you can do multiple things to earn it and thus are not forced in to doing anything specifically to get what you want. In real life you dont need to farm the land and raise animals to get food, you can clean peoples cars or fix their house and they will pay you money you can buy food with. Same can be done in game - you can do races or play eliminator or only play playground games, earn money, then buy the car you want from that. dont force people to play parts of the sandbox game they dont like.
I agree with you; I don’t support forcing players to play a specific mode they don’t enjoy just to unlock new cars. What I meant is that playing a certain mode could be one of the options to obtain a car, not the only way. If you don’t want to do that, you can always go to the auction house and buy it, or simply keep playing the game to earn Wheelspins.
What if the Autoshow and Auction House were merged? The interface could remain the same, displaying cars along with some details, but when you decide to purchase one, it would show you the available listings from the auction house.
Lastly, there’s no real concern about removing the 20 million CR cap. If someone lists a 10,000 CR car for 10 million, no one will buy it. This would actually encourage a more realistic economy among players and prevent price exaggeration.
I appreciate your enthusiasm and I get the direction youre wanting the game to go, but I think youre greatly underestimating how bad the playerbase can be. Remember, the auctionhouse is essentially pvp with potentially exclusive rewards. All it would take is 1 modded account with billions and trillions of credits to come in and monopolise the market. all it takes is a few bots here and there to mean all the best cars are locked up.
Account selling is already a problem in the current game with its current fomo system. people use bots to swipe cars off the auctionhouse and put together accounts with certain cars, then they sell for REAL money, and if real money is on the table there is no amount of anticheat or account bannings will stop it. and once someone buys a car, they can just relist it for more with no alternative anyway.
and saying “just keep playing until you can get on the auctionhouse or win in a wheelspin” doesnt work because both of those are heavily reliant on luck. the world is already heavily reliant on luck to get what you want in real life, most people want to play games to avoid that. We dont need forza horizon to turn in to a pvp gacha, which historically are some of the most toxic gaming environments where only people with enough real life money to dump in to the game end up winning. Like just to put it in perspective, there are people who have spent hundereds of thousands on these sorts of games to stay competative, that is what this what making rewards exclusive and having no limits on the inter-player economy does.
If I start the game and see a lancia delta group B car, lets say, one day I might want to be able to get that car and not be stuck unable to because I cant win it on the wheelspins after months or years, and I cant snag one on the auctionhouse because its a famous car that is pretty good in game. “If someone lists a 10,000 CR car for 10 million, no one will buy it” is also a prro argument here because while YOU wouldnt spend that on a car, someone else will, modded money or otherwise. if it didnt sell? dont worry, just relist it at the same price like everyone else does and eventually the people buying will mentally condition themselves in to spending that much. if I had grinded a hundered million as I have done in endgame and see the one car I couldnt get all this time come up for 50mil, whats stopping me getting it? if I say its too expensive, will someone else in the same scenario as me do the same? its only a game why not after all.
I’d like to see the Festival site be your “garage” where you do your car modifications/paint/etc.
Instead of having the autoshow tied up in your garage there should be a separate location (or more than 1) on the map for car dealerships.
It’d add to the immersion IMO.
