Who hates that the corvette e ray is on autoshow now?

i just realized the corvette e ray is now on autoshow cause it was so cheap at auction.

I believe the opposite. I’m very happy that it’s in the Autoshow. I obtained it week 1 of the Motorsport release (playing on game pass cloud) so I’m not saying that because I couldn’t obtain it.

The more cars in the Autoshow the better. The thing I do hate is the play-walling of certain cars behind the seasonal playlists that have only ever been available to obtain once or twice in almost 3 years. Good luck getting a Toyota AT37, AT38 or some of the other unicorn cars.

I would prefer it if cars automatically went into the Autoshow 6 months after first availability because the artificial scarcity serves no benefit to the players outside of giving a few insecure people a false sense of validation because they have a digital-only item that some others don’t

I’m not a fan of locking cars behind real-world, limited run, or region restricted purchases either

I only hate it because I requested it during WHM :joy:

Other than that getting more cars in the Autoshow is a good thing!

same lmao

I didn’t play FM8 nor do I have gamepass so this is my first time being able to purchase the E-Ray. Overall not a bad car, I like the customization.

By putting it in the autoshow the E-Ray went from being a car which I would have never owned to one which I can. Immediately went and bought two, happy to unlock a third later this season.

Bring more cars to the autoshow!! I still want a fleet of Nissan Safaris, darnit! Heck, or put more hard to finds in the Forzathon shop. The game has two types of currency and rarely anything to spend either of them on.

Technically Skill Points are also a currency… and also the only one of any consequence to me now.

I like the playwalling. If people want the cars, they should play the game. Less than 1 hour is all it takes to get the cars every week. It is really that simple.

But the E ray being in the Autoshow doesn’t bother me.

So? If real life demands I not play and I miss out on content, it’s not fair that I’m at the mercy of the developers randomly deciding to put said content back in months down the road (if ever). And no, the Auction House is not a viable option.

If they want to be exclusive for the series, fine. But after that, they should be in the Autoshow for a credit cost, no questions asked. If you need more than a month to feel like you got one up on somebody, you don’t need to be playing the game. Touch grass.

I don’t disagree about playing to unlock the cars but there is a situation where if you picked up the game later on, you would not have an opportunity to unlock cars that have only been in game once or twice and not been repeated as rewards.

This is where the 40 PT rewards or the return of Horizon Backstage could be more useful if they included these rarer cars because there is currently no path to obtain them

This is unfortunately not the case and this is why I said 6 months later because it still keeps the incentive for people to play the game to unlock them on release whilst the cars are something to aim for and there is still the hype around them

I agree they should bring back Horizon Backstage. That would be fair to everyone and good for the game.

That’s life. Those are the choices we make.

I’m not opposed to giving people more frequent opportunities to earn the cars, but putting them in the Auto Show for credits practically defeats the purpose of seasonal rewards.

I think they should bring back Horizon Backstage, put them all in, and give people the opportunity to earn 2 backstage passes per month.

You can choose to play or not play a video game. You cannot choose to do what is necessary to maintain your health or your livelihood, and you should not have to choose. I don’t care if getting these cars took five minutes. It’s forced FOMO for the sake of boosting player numbers, and it never should have become a thing in this industry.

Horizon Backstage is just as half-hearted a solution to the problem as the Auction House is. Put the cars in the Autoshow and be done with it. Again, feel like you need to lord over other people? Get off the kid’s game and touch grass.

Many cars so far are still locked behind paywall and even though I have most of them, I don’t think they should be locked off from the base game of all eternity. The “suits” however hate the idea.

I think with new-to-Forza cars then sure I don’t disagree too much there, but many of FH5’s playlist cars were previously autoshow cars in FH4 and I would argue that also defeats the purpose of seasonal rewards when some of those rewards are just recycled cars from the last game. (I think there’s over 60 of them at this point) Some of them aren’t even desirable cars anyway (cough cough Morris Travelers)

I think (or fairly sure at least) a big change going from FH4 to FH5 is that Playground doesn’t give out exclusive cars as frequently through the Forzathon shop and seasonal championships, instead they’re almost always relegated to the 40 point reward slot. Whereas in FH4 they were more frequently included in the Forzathon shop and as championship rewards and as a result they were more plentiful on the auction house, provided you had 20 million credits to buy out

lol i forgot that i had gamepass so i could have gotten it LOL

Honestly I think any sort of extremely limited-time unlockable content in a game like this is total bull. The entire point of the game is to collect and drive a large number of unique cars, and this practice actively prevents some players from doing so. “What’s that, you really wanted to drive the DeLorean? Well too bad, you bought the game 17 months ago instead of 18, so you missed out!” It creates artificial scarcity for no other reason than driving constant mindless “engagement” to avoid FOMO. Hell, I’d go so far as to say it’s anti-consumer: if you pay full retail price for a AAA game, then there should be some reasonable pathway toward accessing all of that game’s content.

I only got my E-Ray from the BHM screenshot promo two months ago, but I’m perfectly fine with it being added to the Autoshow now. Does my enjoyment of it get diminished in any way by everyone else getting the chance to enjoy it too? Of course not! I want everyone to be able to own every car that I do.

@TheWarmWind76 Good point about skill points!

The whole idea of time limited seasonal unlocks which we can get for playing continues to baffle me.

Just consider this: If these new cars went straight to the autoshow, with prices we would have to pay to add them to our garages, we would…still have to play the game to get the credits to buy them with. I bet a lot of people would still return every week to run a bunch of races in order to get enough in game credits to buy the new stuff with, too.

This adds a couple of neat bonuses. It would give us a (limited) sense of progression rather than being handed so much stuff for free. It would make credits more useful. It would allow us to buy more than one of each new vehicle which would also come straight out of our in-game bank accounts. And it would let the players focus on what vehicles they want to own and collect, all at their own pace.

To make sure these new cars aren’t being tossed into the auction house for below list price just keep them from being auctioned for a month or two so the autoshow is the only way to acquire them.

Of course with the game having been set as it is for a couple of years there’s the matter of many players already having $100 million or more. But, considering the Mercedes 300 SLR, I’m sure the minds behind the game could figure something out.

I only hate it because I now wasted my time playing Motorsport '23 on free trial just to get it. Wish they had made it clear from the start that they always intended to add it to the Autoshow. Instead, they just acted like playing Motorsport '23 was the ONLY way to get it. That’s deceptive marketing, and I don’t appreciate being a victim of it.

Totally agree with the introduction of Backstage Passes into FH5, also they could put a lot more exclusive cars in the Forzathon Shop, and just top throw this into the ring - what about the most pointless thing in the game at the moment, Kudos? Maybe in the same way as the shop you could also spend Kudos on a couple of rare / exclusive cars per week / month
