Are the mirrors meant to be like this? In motion they look 10 times worse than in the still pics. Feel like I am playing on my old Spectrum 48k. Mirrors on Ultra in settings at 3440x1440.
The mirror actually should look like that, it’s a wide angle mirror like below:
Because it has 5 smaller mirrors that are not smoothly connected this will give the weird view.
I think they are trying to make the mirror function the way they would in the real car. But without reflecting the inside of the car and matching how each panel is aimed, it looks off. As for the clarity of the mirrors, it matches how I have mine set in other cars (reflections medium). Its all pixelated on my end. I never dug into the Buick TA’s mirrors.
Its interesting that they did that with the mirror. Does this mean they could support different viewports for triple screen? I know its OT but I suspected that FM couldn’t do more than two viewports (The car, and the mirror). This mirror shows that the game can do at least 5. Hmm…
Thanks I understand the concept but the mirrors are such low resolution that they should not be allowed!
If you look at the left hand mirror it is rendered in a much higher resolution and looks just fine. The rear one is just a smeary mess especially in motion (try it in game).
Here are pics of each zoomed in by the same amount. Maybe the rear mirror is enlarging the view, acting like a magnifying glass.

In a different car the rear mirror is the same resolution as the side mirrors. Maybe they had to reduce the resolution because there are 5 mirrors! It looks awful though.
I would guess that this is maybe one viewport applied to all the mirrors, with the image stretch and deformed to fit the geometry and angle of each mirror.
At least, it’s certainly what would happen if you were to take a smaller part of the left mirror and apply it over a larger surface.
I noticed the low resolution rear mirrors for the first time this week. Sure it was never like that before patch 7?
It’s like I’m using a PS1 to render them.
The larger the mirror the worse it is but the resolution is a fraction of what it needs to be. It’s so jarring with all the pop out you see. The chill distance for objects is really close to the rear of the car then “pop” it’s gone.
